Twisted Lore

There definitely could have been worse things than being stuck at Night Raven College as their new janitor, Kairi thought, dodging the new ghosts in her dorm that seemed to be annoying Grim especially.

…Though she was still kind of annoyed that Crowley was making her clean, to earn her keep while she was here before she got sent back home, when it was partly his fault that she had gotten brought here in the first place. But it was what it was. And while she was working, Kairi thought that maybe she could look into clues about where Sora might be.

Because there was just something about this entire place that reminded the former Princess of some of the places that Sora had been to, or heard about himself, and then mentioned to her: The Dark Mirror in particular.

"I don't like how you seem adamant on finding your friend Sora," Grim complained. "You're so focused on that, I feel like I'll never become a student here."

Kairi bit her lip at that; she had just told Grim her plan of trying to get Crowley to accept him with their working together—after they'd gotten rid of the ghosts through teamwork—and already he was doubting her? Though Kairi supposed she couldn't blame him. It seemed like he had wanted this for a long time, and it was hard to feel like your dreams were dying. How long had she dreamed about staying with Sora once and for all, after all? And more and more, that whole idea felt like sand falling through her fingertips.

So, yes. Kairi thought she could understand Grim's frustrations. So she promised herself she'd figure out how to get him what he wanted. Somehow, she'd get everything to connect, so this could all work out for everyone.

Walking out towards a lovely lawn—on perhaps the sunniest day that Kairi had ever seen—(a good omen perhaps?) Kairi noted that the students were practicing flying on brooms. And she only watched on wishing that that was her for just a second before she assured Grim, "I'll get you to be a student here. Because you know what? Despite Crowley thinking I need to go home… I've realized I do want the kind of power taught here. Because that's the kind of power to affect change."

And Grim was too contrary to agree with her, Kairi knew. But the spark of emotion she thought she saw in his eyes seemed to tell her that he very much felt the same way.

And so, they continued on with their day and everything they needed to do.

Author's Note: So, you've probably noted that this is one of two Twisted Wonderland things I've made you. I wanted to make you something based on it, since you really love it. But I wasn't sure either project would work out, so I started both, in case the other wouldn't… But then both sort of did pan out, so you get both of them (I hope that's okay). Yay!

Also, this is sort of bare bones, since I'm still pretty early into the story, but I hope you can still enjoy it:)

Happy birthday!
