Chapter One: Taken

"Come on girl. We're not gonna hurt you." A women says as she is pulling on a rope she has around Alexis's neck in attempt to get her into a pen with some other calfs. Alexis continues moo frightened while continuing to pull on the rope with no avail as a man is pushing her from behind.

"Just a bit further. She's almost in the pen with the others." The man says.

"Got her in. Close the gate." The women says as they get Alexis is the gate before closing it behind her as the man then climbs out of the pen.

"Strong one that cow is. Especially for a calf. She'll make a nice edition to the cows here. Beautiful specimen too. Never seen one like her." The man says as the women climbs out of the pen after taking the rope off Alexis.

"Sure is beautiful. Can't believe she was out by herself like that. Must not belong to anyone. Ours now." The women says as she leaves with the man while Alexis runs over to the fence.

"But I do belong to someone! Wait! Don't leave me in here! Let me out! You gotta take me back to her!" Alexis shouts as the humans go inside a building.

"They aren't gonna come back." A dark brown male calf says as he, a light brown calf and a dark calf come over.

"Who are you?" Alexis says nervously as she looks at the calf.

"I think the question is what's your name beautiful and what's a beauty like you doing in a place like this?" The dark calf says as he goes closely over to Alexis and smiles.

"Excuse you. I'll thank you to stay out of my personal space when not invited." Alexis says as she backs away from the calf only to back up into the dark brown calf.

"Fiesty. I like that in a girl." The dark brown calf says.

"Guys leave her be. She's obviously scared." The light brown calf says as Alexis looks at him.

"Whatever. You may as well get comfy here sweetheart. Your humans won't come get you and you aren't gonna get out." The dark brown calf says.

"Yeah. After Ferdinand got lose they've upped the security of the fences." The dark calf says as Alexis looks at him.

"Ferdinand?" Alexis asks curiously.

"He's a nobody that is long gone by now. Don't worry your pretty little head about him. Just get comfortable cause this is your life now. It's this way for all of us." The dark brown calf says as he leaves with the dark calf as Alexis looks down worriedly.

"Don't worry about them. They can be mean at times but they're not that bad. Anyways I'm Bones and the those two are Valiente and Guapo. It's not terrific here but you'll come to like it." The light brown calf says as Alexis looks at him.

"I'm not staying. I'll find a way out. I have to. I just can't give up like that." Alexis says as she walks off and begins trying to dig at the bottom of the fence with the other calfs watching her.

*Timeskip*

"You again? What do you want now? Come to insult me some more?" Alexis asks as she sees Valiente walk over to her as she is still digging later at night.

"No. Look I'm sorry I acted that way. I'm not really good at making friends." Valiente says.

"I noticed." Alexis says annoyedly.

"Aren't you tired?" Valiente asks as he looks at Alexis digging.

"No. I just gotta get back to her." Alexis says.

"So you belong to a girl?" Valiente asks.

"Sarah." Alexis says.

"Huh?" Valiente asks.

"Her name. It's Sarah. She was my best friend. And because I got loose I messed that up. But what else is new with my luck?" Alexis asks.

"I'm sorry." Valiente says.

"What?" Alexis asks as she looks at Valiente.

"I said I'm sorry. I don't know what that's like but I imagine it's not a good feeling." Valiente says as he gives a slightly sad look.

"No. It's really not... Alexis." Alexis says as she stops digging.

"What?" Valiente asks as he looks at Alexis.

"You asked for my name earlier. It's Alexis." Alexis says as she smiles slightly at Valiente.

"Wow. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. It suits you." Valiente says as he smirks before Alexis playfully rolls her eyes.

"Yeah. Still mind the personal space there pretty boy." Alexis says as she goes back to digging.

"You'll come around." Valiente says confidently.

"Doubt that. I won't be here that long if I can help it. Ouch!" Alexis shouts as she pulls her leg back feeling some scratch her.

"What did you do?" Valiente asks.

"I scratched my leg." Alexis says as she sees the cut on her leg.

"Doesn't look that bad. But you should probably give it a rest for the night. You ain't getting though the fence." Valiente says as he looks at Alexis's leg.

"No way. Now what are you doing?" Alexis asks as she sees Valiente lay down near her.

"Look I know you're scared. I may not be the easiest or the nicest bull around here but I'm not cruel. Or at least I won't be to a girl. I just thought maybe having some company even if you don't really want it may help you to calm down a bit. You know? Like friends." Valiente says as Alexis stops digging and looks at him shocked.

"Friends?" Alexis asks.

"Yeah. Haven't you ever had a friend before?" Valiente asks curiously.

"A human yes. My human girl. But no other calfs. I lost my parents when I was young and she found me. Her family took me in but I got out of the fence and wandered too far from the farm. That's how I got brought here." Alexis says sadly.

"I'm sorry for that." Valiente says as Alexis looks at him before sighing and stepping away from the fence.

"So um are there any empty stalls?" Alexis asks.

"Yeah. Follow me. But you can always share mine." Bones says as Alexis begins to follow him.

"No chance pretty boy." Alexis says as she and Valiente chuckle.

Life story: Alexis was born in the mountains with her mother and her father. She is the only one of her litter. Her parents and pack both were killed when she was 3 months old by another wolf and his pack. Thanks to her mother she survived the slaughter and was taken in by a human girl and her family.
