After Harriet is fired at the college reunion, she becomes obsessed with the idea of capturing proof of the Wisconsin Ghost's existence to get her job back. She and Vlad end up getting to know each other during this time, and find they have more in common than they thought.

Some of them seem to be hand written, a few resemble journals, and one is written in a language Harriet has never seen before, with hand-drawn sketches and small paintings that are either completely incomprehensible or frustratingly and puzzlingly vague. All of it makes her brain go into overdrive, that lovely feeling of the hunt, of a mission, of a mystery to be solved. It's partly laced with apprehension - the last time she'd felt like this, so certain and confident, her entire life had been dashed upon the rocks with all the mercy of an unfeeling ocean crashing against the cliffside./span/p
