Now doc, tell us where it is. -While he was pointing the gun at Kate.
Jack's theory about the convenience of not confessing had no sense now, the ideas got all mixed inside his mind and he just could not think clearly. The few seconds he spent thinking were enough for Danny to grab strongly the gun and hit Kate with it on her face. Besides it took her by surprise, she didn't make any sound or complain. She was not going to give Danny what he wanted.
Jack yelled at them to stop and this seemed to incentivize Danny to continue, so he hit her two or maybe three more times and then stopped. She was bleeding -I guess now you would learn to respect us.
It was obvious that they didn't care about the antenna, or whatever they said it was robbed, and both Jack and Kate were fully aware of it. He told them it was in their camp but it was already broken when they took it -it was true, 'cause Sayid needed just a piece of it-. The others didn't seem interested in that object, as Jack suspected.
-So our doctor is a liar, who would have guessed that? I'm sure you also lied about what you were looking for in our station.
Jack immediately knew they intended to make them suffer, no matter what were the answers.
-Are u gonna tell us the truth? -Danny suddenly grabbed Kate, who was still attached to the tree, from her neck and started choking her. His strong hands were around her soft neck while she was fighting as much as she could to get some air. Seconds seemed to be hours for her, as the oxygen was suddenly something completely out of her possibilities. Jack yelled again to stop but this made Danny laugh even more. Kate's lips were now purple and a tear rolled on her cheek. It felt like an eternity for both of them.
He finally stopped, and the feeling of the air back again in her lungs was just marvelous, for both Kate and Jack, who felt alive again. She was near to passing out, but she didn't.
Danny got again so close to her, giving jack waves of nausea. He downed his hands slowly, touching as much skin as he could while we stared at her, smiling evil until he reached her pockets. He took her gun off her.
-So, I guess it was not only for stealing medicine that u came here. Right? Wanted to kill someone in the way, doc?
Jack didn't answer, his mind was still thinking in Danny's hands around her. He was suddenly separated from his thoughts, when another man beat her strongly, this time breaking the rope and letting her on the ground.
He was gonna shout to them to stop, but before anything he could have said, Tom -the obvious leader of the group- took his gun and shot to the ground, very near of everyone's feet.
-I'm tired of all these games. Let's be men for a while, what u think guys? So, we're gonna let u both go, right now, but first, u have to give us something in exchange or at least convince us to forgive you. Why shouldn't we kill u both right now?
Everyone was now staring at Jack. Kate, still on the ground, with all her face and body bleeding, looked at him and their eyes connected for an instant, and there was anything need to say, they understood each other completely. She was now shaking from the pain, but she didn't complain or cry.
The men gave a step to be closer to Jack, still waiting for his answer, and ready to shoot them, when some thunderous noise from the heart of the jungle, captured everyone's attention. They all run quickly to their van and left without saying anything, and let them there. Jack was still tied to the ground, incapable of moving.
-KATE! KATE WATE UP.- He was now shouting in panic as some trees far away started to fall thunderous to the ground. She was not completely unconscious and moved to him. She reached the ropes and untied him. He stood up quickly and carried her in his strong arms, running as fast as he could, with a deafening noise behind them, getting more and more close every minute.
They hide on a cave and stayed in silence for at least half an hour, without moving, in the complete darkness. They hugged each other and wait so long that both started to fall asleep.
