"Hey guess what I'm doing when I get home later." Dylan said talking to the woman.

" hopefully get some sle- Duncan?!" The woman asked shocked.

Duncan saw Courtney's Bestfriend Bridgette. That's when it all clicked. He knew he recognized her from somewhere.

"Hey Malibu I told you I recognized you." Duncan said chuckling.

She gave a panicked smile. "Yeah I remember."

"Ohh is this the one you said you met in Hawaii?" Geoff asked Duncan smiling.

"That's cool bruh." Geoff whooped out also putting the pieces together.

This is Gwen and my youn-". Duncan started to introduced.

"I know Dylan. We babysit him. But yeah. Hi Gwen I'm Bridgette." She replied with a forced smile.

Just then Duncan saw the girl who had him eating out the palm of her hands and crushed his feelings like it was nothing.

Courtney walked up and stopped, looking at him appalled. Then she saw Gwen dressed up along with Duncan and his brother and she frowned.

"Hey mocha this is Duncan, Dylan and Duncan's date Gwen." Geoff introduced. Duncan shot Geoff a slight panicked look. "She's not my date we were joking." Duncan said quickly clarifying so Courtney didn't get the wrong idea.

Wait why should he care? She doesn't even want him.

Gwen gave him a confused look and Duncan avoided it mentally face palming himself.

"Yeah we've met. We work together. Except Dylan. He's in my class." Courtney said sitting down and picking up her eating utensil.

"That's cool mocha! How good of a teacher is she?" Geoff asked.

Bridgette sensed the tension and tried to lighten the mood by encouraging conversation.

Dylan chuckled. "She's pretty good. She's actually not annoying and can make things easy to understand. But however it can be boring." He answered honestly.

Courtney scoffed. "History is very interesting. What's not fun about learning about the history of religion?"

Dylan gave her a flat look before replying. "Everything."

"Yeah court im going to have to say I agree" Bridgette laughed.

"That's why I'm hoping art is your favorite class compared to that." Gwen said to Dylan.

Courtney squinted her eyes at her, her sentence seeming like a jab.

"Actually it's p.e, you can throw dodge balls at anyone you want. I have a field day everyday. Thank god I'm not wimpy." Dylan replied.

Duncan looked over Courtney's slim tight white dress that had a slit up her leg and was thinking about how beautiful she looked. But he couldn't stop the lustful thoughts from entering his brain. The main one was bending her over the table with her dress bunched around her waist.

Or even better. Her with her back on the table with one of her sexy smooth legs on his shoulder-

"Duncan you doing any sports?" Gwen asked interrupting his rated R fantasy. Twirling her fork in her vegan spaghetti.

He wondered where the hell she got food from when a plate was set in front of him. "Enjoy your food." The waiter said before walking away.

"I don't think so. Probably not. I want to have free time. How about you. Courtney." Duncan says turning to Courtney. His heart sped up as her onyx eyes look at his icy blue eyes for the first time since she's got here.

"Volleyball." She said icily before turning to Dylan who looked bewildered at the brief. Communication she and his brother had.

"I'm hoping to see you at tryouts for boys volleyball?" She said with a friendly tone this time.

Dylan snorted. "Isn't that a girl sport?"

Courtney rolled her eyes. "No. It's a sport for boys and girlS. Lots of basketball players play it to help to enhance skills."

Dylan shrugged. "I'll think about it."

"So. How is it at work with you three? It must be fun huh?" Geoff asked while eating his food.

"It's fun I get to see this one all the time thanks to the students." Gwen said elbowing Duncan playfully. Duncan smirked before he saw Courtney's unreadable expression.

"And you Courtney?"

"I try to stay to myself. So I don't really see them or anyone." Courtney replied to Geoff.

"It sounds like you've been busy anyway." Bridgette said trying to help out Courtney.

"Sounds lonely." Gwen said rolling her eyes. Courtney was fed up with her replies.

"I mean you wouldn't really know what being lonely feels like since you talk to almost every guy in the school you see right?" Courtney said raising her eyebrow.

Gwen looked at her with anger but before she could reply geoff interrupted them.

"Wow so who was dessert?" Geoff said trying stop the argument from starting.

"Actually I have assignments to grade so I think I'm gonna go home." Courtney shrugged.

"Okay text me when you get home."Bridgette said before Geoff could protest knowing Courtney was feeling put out from Duncan and Gwen.

——————————————

After Courtney said her goodbyes she got in her car and drove home. She could feel the anger and jealousy bubbling. The way they looked at eachother, it all made her sick.

She parked in her driveway when got back and sat there for a moment. She couldn't help but feel angry at herself for the damn number being lost. Only if she texted the day he gave it.

She got out the car and went inside the house. Locking the door behind her she walked in and sat on the couch. She kicked off her heels and sighed.

She couldn't catch a break could she?

Courtney checked her phone and seen a text from Bridgette asking if she was okay. Typing a swift yes. She got up before headed to the kitchen to get some wine and downed it.

She walked to bed and laid down. So many thoughts swarming through her mind. Courtney then thought about how good her anxiety ball, that Bridgette gave her would be at the moment. So she went over to her nightstand and opened it. As she picked it up she seen a picture that made her heart sink.

Setting down the anxiety ball, she picked up the picture and looked at it feeling all the bittersweet and painful memories flooding into her mind.

In her hands was a ultrasound picture.

This was the last picture she had. She smiled as the memories came in her head again.

Flashback

"I'm so excited. I know it's gonna work this time." A man said opening the door to a apartment.

Courtney walked in and kissed her fiancé. "I'm hoping do too but let's try not to get too excited about it I don't wanna get us let down again." She said worriedly grabbing the pregnancy test out their grocery bag.

"I know we had some let downs in the past but I know this time it's gonna say pregnant." He replied. He had green eyes with coacoa skin with curly hair. He was tall and was pretty built as he smiled at Courtney, his soon to be wife reassuringly.

"You said that the last five times adrien." Courtney said rolling her eyes but had a smile on her face.

Adrien laughed. " I know but this time I have a really good feeling."

Walking to the bathroom Courtney took the test nervously as Adrien said reassuring words.

After she finished they both waited patiently.

Soon the timer went off signaling it was time to look at the pregnancy test.

"You read it this time." Courtney said wincing nervously.

He nodded and grabbed it.

"Courtney." He exclaimed.

Courtney looked up from her hands where she had buried her hands. She tried not to be too hopeful but she couldn't help it. "Yeah?"

He looked up excitedly at Courtney. "We're going to have a baby!" Adrien exclaimed happily.

Courtneys jaw dropped before she started jumping up and down before she jumped up and hugged him which he hugged her back just as jubilantly.

End of flashback

A tear slowly rolled down her cheek as she thought about the once happy memory that was now very painful to think about.

—————————————————————————

During 3rd period Courtney sat on her desk writing in her planner trying to keep her mind off her break down she had yesterday when she heard faint moaning. Her head shot up and she saw a group of boys in the back of the class. They were huddled up in a group.

Seeing some students look over and whisper to eachother she got annoyed. Not only were they being extremely inappropriate, they were also being an distraction to everyone else.

Standing up she stormed over to where the group of boys were huddled up.

They saw her coming and the moaning muted immediately before they separated as much as they could. Courtney was glad she saw the group of guys and memorized them before they tried to feigned innocent.

"There is a zero tolerance for inappropriate sounds and videos in here unless it's for educational reasons distributed by a teacher!" Courtney glared as she folded her arms.

Some of the boys had fear but one in particular looked at her with fake innocence in his eyes. "We weren't doing nothing bad. We were watching the school documentary."

"Last time I checked a pornographic video isn't on the school website." She frowned before seeing a boy with a green backpack trying to sneak away.

"You. Get over here. Now." Courtney commanded firmly. The boy turned around and went back defeatedly.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Do you know what she's talking about guys?" The boy asked.

Courtney glared at the student. "Nice try Scott. Give me the cellphone."

"It wasn't my phone." He smiled snarkily and the boys began saying how it wasn't their phone either.

Fine so be it.

Courtney shrugged." Okay." Courtney said walking back to her desk.

The boys smiled thinking they've won until courtney came back with a small bucket.

"Since it's none of your phones. I'll be taking all your phones." Courtney this time gave a bitchy smile to the boys.

They all grumbles as all 8 of the boys put their phone in the bucket.

"Great and since you guys were uncooperative I will be writing a referral and keeping your phones till the end of the day." Courtney smiled when they finished.

The boy's protests and grumbles strangely made her feel better.

—————

"Courtney you should get out there. I have a hot doctor guy who's single." Heather said in Courtney's phone. Courtney held the phone up to her ear as she graded the papers and wrote the lesson plan.

"I don't know Heather I don't think I'm ready for that. Especially doctors." Courtney said giving a girl named Lindsay an 'F' on her assignment and wrote 'see me after class if you need help'

"I mean Courtney since that asshole and Duncan i think you need to get out there! Besides I have more men. like I have a cute lawyer guy." Heather tried. Courtney knew what she was trying to do but after another disappointment she didn't think she had it in her to try again. Especially so soon.

"Oh and his name is Dominic. Cute right? so maybe you..." Courtney zoned out as the name rung a bell in her.

Flashback

"Okay I know we're supposed to keep the name a secret but can I please tell my parents? They've been literally harassing me to tell them." Adrien said walking behind a cooking Courtney who was 5 months pregnant and wrapped his arms around her .

"We don't even have a middle name picked out!" She exclaimed.

Adrien rubbed her round belly and kissed her cheek. "Yeah but we have Dominic and Cartwright as the first and the last name." He said with a smile.

Courtney thought for a moment before shaking her head. "No. Give them a hint." She said before turning around to face him.

"I hope Dominic has your beautiful eyes." He said before kissing her stomach.

Courtney beamed but rolled her eyes. "Flattery isn't going to get you anywhere." She laughed.

Adrien laughed too.

End of flashback

"Courtney? Hello?" Heather asked slightly annoyed her friend wasn't responding.

Courtney snapped out of the painful memory before muttering "sorry."

Thankfully Heather could say anything else the bell rang. " sorry Heather I have to go." Courtney said before hanging up.

Courtney sat there and sighed. Thank god it's Friday.

—————————————————————————

Duncan let in the students that were coming in from lunch. After the bell rang he did the usual routine before the students did their own thing. As he walked to his desk he noticed one of his student's head was down.

Usually he'd shrug it off and wouldn't care cause it was normal behavior but he noticed it was his hardworking student. Emily galington.

She always worked her ass off in the class and when she wasn't doing his work, she did work from a different class.

Duncan went over to her debating if he should see if she was okay.

"Emily?" Duncan asked.

Emily looked up at Duncan and the first thing he noticed was the puffy eyes.

He mentally sighed before he asked her to follow him outside the class.

When they were outside he closed the door and turned to his overachieving student.

"Do you want to talk or anything? I wanted to check on you to make sure everything was okay?" Duncan asked.

Emily broke down in tears before she talked to him. "My grandfather died today. He committed suicide basically. He wanted to unplug his life support and-" she choked out before sobbing.

Duncan felt empty hearing her cry.

"You don't have to do the work in my class for the week okay? If you want to sit out here or go to anywhere you can let me know and I'll write a pass okay? But I'm so sorry." He said comfortingly. He knew partly how she felt.

"I-I'll sit outside." She sighed before sitting by the class door.

"Okay if you need anything I'll be inside." He said before leaving Emily to be alone.

He sat at his desk as Emily's tragic words stirred up a tragic memory he tried to bury deep in his mind.

Flashback

Duncan sighed as he was at his job. He was a warehouse worker making 19.50 an hour. Currently he was doing a 12 hour shift.

Duncan was 16 years old and it's been a year since his mom passed away.

As he was unloading the delivery truck he heard a gruff voice call his name. Looking behind him he seen his boss looking at him.

"Yes sir,"

"You have an important phone call in my office." The man said before leaving to check on the other workers.

Duncan jumped down from the truck and jogged to his boss's office. He thought maybe it was his younger brother. He hasn't really been able to see him since he got emancipated 8 months ago. His father wouldn't let him see him cause he said Duncan was a bad influence on Dylan.

Duncan sat in his chair and picked up the phone. "Duncan here?"

"Hi this is dr.warren from st.Gerald's hospital here with a cps social worker, Miranda warren." The man explained.

"What's this about?" Duncan asked scared something bad happened to Dylan.

"I'm sorry to inform you but joel sterling has passed away." Duncan frozen feeling emotionless.

"He died from suicide. He overdosed himself on heroine." The doctor informed him.

"Is Dylan okay? Where's Dylan?"

This time Miranda spoke. "Well we took him into custody an hour ago. He's currently in the hospital cause he went into shock. Apparently Joel forced him into a chair where he forced him to watch him commit suicide wanting to spend his last moments with him before he died. Unfortunately he went into shock and he is now in the hospital."

Duncan felt like his whole world just stopped.

"He can't be in the foster system!" He exclaimed.

"Well since Melanie sterling is deceased and so is the father there's no one else is left to take care of Dylan." She replied.

Duncan didn't even think the words just came out of his mouth. " I can take care of him."

"Duncan you are 16-" She started.

"And legally I'm an adult that is emancipated. I have a good job. And I have a place to stay." Duncan said not hearing out any doubts the woman had.

Later on he was at the hospital looking at his 7 year old brother. He laid in bed staring up endlessly.

He just finished signing paperwork and was now looking for a lawyer.

End of flashback

He blinked as the bell rang. He hoped she was okay.
