AN:so, I know I said I'd see you next week, but I didn't wanna leave it with absolutely no romance just yet, so, here's the next chapter! Sorry It's mostly just a retelling of the first episodes of the anime, but from here on forth the main focus will be our two(Now grown) childhood friends. Also I thought it was a good idea to give a few scenes between the time jump, in the form of flashbacks, I didnt want to completely leave out the developmental stages of their friendship, so let me know what you think of those! It's only about 2000 words, but It's the longest I've ever written, and I wanted to get something fun out before I went to weekly releases. There will still be a new chapter coming out next Saturday(the 6th) so I hope some of you are looking forward to that! By the way, when all might is speaking if his text is Bolded, that just means he is in his muscle form.
AlexanderHalsen: I'll do my best to keep weekly/Biweekly updates! Thanks for the good words!
Izuku was running as fast as he possibly could, he'd heard a massive crash and screams, and saw a hero fly past him. "Kamui woods!" He thought, immediately beginning to follow him, although quickly losing sight of him, and just going in the general direction of the chaos. He turned the corner to see a massive shark villain standing atop the railways, with still human legs.
After the half shark, half man villain had been arrested, Izuku was walking down a backroad, happily scribbling a new page in his hero analysis notebook about the gigantic hero, Mt. Lady. He stopped under a bridge to get some shade while finishing off the sketch of Mt. Lady, when he heard bubbling coming from a manhole under the bridge. The manhole suddenly burst into the air, hitting the underside of the bridge with a loud thud. "A new disguise, how perfect" said a voice from the hole, slowly slithering out to reveal itself as a giant slime based monster. Izuku stood, frozen in fear, as the slime monster lunged towards him, very quickly enveloping him. "It stings, it's like i'm drowning" were the only thoughts going through his head as the slime villain assaulted his mouth and nostrils, forcing its way down his throat and into his lungs. He attempted to claw at his mouth, trying to scoop out what he could of the slime villain, but it was futile, he could only feel the pain and his vision was starting to go black. "I'm going to die, I never even got to go to Mei's house today." His sudden thoughts about Mei threw him into his life flashing before his eyes.
"Izuku! Mei is here!" Inko yelled from the kitchen.
"Coming!" A 4 year old Izuku yelled back, snagging his very own invention off of his table. It had taken him 2 days to properly finish, with plenty of help from his mother, but it was finally ready to be given to his, already, new best friend. Izuku met Mei at the door, and before either could say anything, Izuku wrapped his newly completed steampunk goggles around her neck, the strap was a little too big.
"Sorry, I didn't mean for them to be so big, they wont even fit you now." Izuku apologized, twiddling his thumbs, looking down at the floor. He was surprised to feel a set of arms wrap around his neck.
"It's ok, that just means I'll grow into them!" Little Mei had said over his shoulder, and hopped back to check out her new goggles. "I love them! Look at all the little pipes, so steampunky."
"So what are we making today Hatsume-chan?" A 10 year old Izuku asked his equally aged inventing partner.
"I don't know quite yet, but I have an idea for an electric motor that could power that go-kart we built last week!" Mei happily responded.
"Why do we need a new motor? We just finished building it a few days ago."
"Well, I uhh, kinda crashed it, and the motor blew up, so i figured it would be better to use an electric motor, since it has way less of a chance to blow up!" The electric engine also blew up later that day.
"Hatsume-san, what's the project you were telling me about over the phone?" Izuku asked, sitting at his own workbench in Mei's garage.
"First, we've known each other for eleven years, you can drop the honorifics." Mei said, spinning her chair to face him, his cheeks seemed redder than usual, so she decided it would be best to turn the AC up a little.
"O-Okay, Hatsume."
"And it's just an idea right now, but it would be a small cartridge that would release an expanding foaming gas, it could be useful for putting out fires, but the only substance I can find would be a pretty bad irritant, so we'd have to be careful with them." She toyed with her goggles, which had many new features since izuku had given her them, but they still very closely resembled what they originally looked like.
This memory was 4 days ago.
Back in the present, his lungs still singed with slime,he moved his hands from scratching out what he could, and felt around in his pocket, and found a small metal canister, he twisted the two halves and immediately, inside of the slime monster, a rapidly expanding foam began to spread throughout it's gelatinous body. The slime immediately recoiled, removing itself from Izuku, as the slime screeched in pain, Izuku began coughing up any remnants of the monster still in his respiratory system.
"IZUKU! Are you alright!?" He heard the familiar voice and looked up at the speaker, seeing only her pink hair as his vision was still quite blurry from the lack of oxygen.
"Mei? Run! You have to get out of here!" we're the only words he could get out, not even acknowledging himself if he was okay.
"And leave you here with that?" She asked, already running to help Izuku up, as they started to get away, the slime villain seemed to expel the foam and screeched again, only warning the kids that it was already coming after them again.
"I AM HERE, HAHAHA!" Suddenly yelled an extremely familiar voice. Just as suddenly came an instant change in wind under the bridge, as a punch was sent from the number 1 hero, just the air sending the slime monster all across the wall of the underpass. The two 13 year olds could only watch in amazement.
"A-A-A-ALL MIGHT?" Izuku managed to stutter out.
"HAHAHA! Yes young man, it is me, All Might!" he said as he chugged two bottles of soda and began stuffing the slime into the now empty bottles.
After giving some autographs and kind words, All Might began his jump, but unfortunately, both teens had the same idea, and he now had one green mop headed boy hanging onto his left leg, and a pink dreaded girl on his right. The shock made him slip up and cough up some blood, however neither child seemed to notice, as both of them seemed to be worrying about other things, like how they were now hundreds of feet in the air. All Might landed on a building, and shook off the two, seeing only one was now conscious.
"Can I be a hero without a quirk?" The still conscious green themed boy immediately asked.
After being told he had no way to become a hero, by his idol no less, and also figuring out his idol was actually a frail and skeletal man, Izuku walked home, with his best friend Mei attempting to cheer him up.
"Hey, if someone was able to almost beat All Might in his prime, surely that means anything's possible" Mei said, having heard the same explanation from the skeletal All Might herself. Suddenly they heard a massive explosion and turned their heads only to see the same slime villain attacking someone else. Kacchan.
Izuku instantly began to run towards him, breaking through the crowd, and out of Mei's arms as she tried to stop him. He felt around his pockets, but he didn't have another one of those capsules Mei had created. But he couldn't just do nothing, so he threw his backpack at the monster and began to tear away at what was covering Kacchan's mouth. It was working this time and as soon as his mouth was free, Kacchan took a deep breath, and yelled.
"DEKKUUUUUU! Get the fuck out of here! I don't need your damn help!" His words stund Izuku, yet he kept tearing away at the slime villain, determined to save his friend.
"DETROIT SMASH!" Came the once again familiar voice of the #1 hero, sending the slime villain flying, along with any meteorologist's predictions for the weather, as it seemed the air from his punch made it rain.
Mei immediately ran to Izuku, hugging him tightly. "Why would you just run in like that you could have gotten hurt! I was so scared you would get hurt again!" She was crying into his shoulder.
"Yeah, listen to your shitty girlfriend, Deku, I could've gotten out of that without your help!"
"I will give you my quirk, you will be my successor, and you will be a true hero! HAHAHA!" All might said to the crying boy, who was on his knees in a deserted road, as the pink haired girl stared in awe from just the side of him.
"You can transfer a quirk!? Do you do that naturally, or is it some sort of cool gadget that does it, hmmm? Oh man, I wish I could make a baby that could give people quirks!" Hatsume excitedly said, poking around the now skeletal All Might.
"Young Midorya, I know you said we could trust her with any information I would tell her, and I'll respect the wishes of my future successor, but, does she have to poke me so much?" All might said, shielding his stomach from Mei, hoping she wouldn't poke him there.
Wiping off his tears, Izuku explained, "Sorry, sniff, she's just very inquisitive." Izuku then attempted to pry Mei off of his idol, and he barely managed to do so.
All Might had told Izuku to meet him at Dagobah beach tomorrow, and then promptly disappeared, leaving the two remaining teens. They decided to go to Mei's house, as usual.
However while they were there, Mei spent the whole time working in silence, an extremely rare occurrence, that only meant one thing, whatever she was making, was more important to her than almost anything. After the two hours of work for Mei, and Izuku watching her, transfixed the whole time as she intricately worked on extremely tiny electronics, she had finally finished.
"TADA!" My newest babies!" Mei yelled at Izuku, presenting to small bracelets.
"Did you spend 2 hours making a pair of watches?"
"No, silly, they're bracelets that transmit the opposite heartbeat to the other. They also have an emergency button that immediately calls the other bracelet. I figured they would be nice to have in case one of us gets in trouble again someday." Mei explained, "Plus, I think it would calm me down if i could always feel your heartbeat, even when you're far away, to let me know you're still kicking" She tried to make light of her reasoning, but the tears welling up in her golden eyes told Izuku the truth. Then she couldn't hold it back anymore, she threw her arms around his neck and was sobbing into his shoulder for the second time that day. "You have to promise me you'll always wear it, so I can always know you're still with me. And you also have to promise that I'll never feel it stop beating. You have to stay with me, forever ok?"
"I'll never leave you Mei" Izuku whispered as he hugged her tighter and began to cry himself.
