From the Fanworks Central server: Prompts "Poltergeist" and "Whistle".
"There. Almost done. Perfect habitat for our toad."
His twin's proud look matched his in the wobbling surface of their creation.
Sharp whistling pierced the air. Adult incoming.
"Wait. Let me -"
Wheezing, hissing. Filch and Mrs Norris.
"Let's go, Forge, unless…"
Two sharp notes. Two corridors away.
"… they find us too soon, Gred."
The redheads exchanged a glance.
"Run."
"Now!"
They went unheard in the triumphant crowing echoing in the hall.
"Hmph. It seems that pesky poltergeist may have his uses," a wheezing voice remarked later, shuffling closer to the swamp adorning the corridor to the Headmistress' office.
My very first drabble! Wanted to post this to show I'm still alive.
The given combination of prompts immediately made me think of the warning whistles of whistle pigs (marmots). My next thought then, was, why not let Peeves use special whistling signals to warn mischievous students about incoming professors?
