I'll Comfort You When You're Scared
Summary: A week after Forever Royal, Sofia's a little on edge due to Vor. Luckily Amber can assist her with that.
A rapid knock on her door startled Amber as she hurried to get on her nightgown.
"Yes who is it?" She asked, smoothing down the hem of her nightgown.
"It's me Sofia. May I come in?" Sofia's muffled voice asked.
"Yes you may."
"Thank you Amber."
Amber stepped back, allowing her sister to come in as she gazed sympathetically toward her appearance.
Once perfect curls askew mixed in with a face redden by tears were commonplace in the days following her.
Amber shivered just thinking about the deceased spirit as Sofia sighed softly.
"Was it Vor again?" Amber wondered.
"Yes," Sofia admitted. "It's only been a week since she was defeated. Why am I still scared of her?"
"That's to be expected according to our royal physician and Mom and Daddy and somehow Cedric."
"I know but I feel so babyish."
"There's nothing babyish about being shaken up by what happened," Amber assured her. "I'm still shaken from nearly losing you Sofia. I may not remember Princess Ivy very well but she's a saint compared to Vor."
Sofia giggled a genuine giggle for the first time in a week, putting a hand to her lips. "That is true but Vor left something behind remember?"
"Your scars. I know," Amber muttered. She stroked her sister's hair in an attempt to console herself. "Do they hurt at all?"
"A little but Mr. Cedric helps out with that," Sofia smiled. She fiddled with her amulet, biting her lip. "I just feel ugly about my scars. Everyone's going to say something about moment they see them."
"Sofia come lay beside me," Amber requested as she climbed on her bed. "That usually makes you feel better."
"Okay but I don't know if it'll do anything good.".
Amber smiled, making room for her as she scooted towards the left side of her bed. "Trust me it will."
With a sigh, the younger Enchancian princess climbed on to her sister's bed and laid beside her.
"You know what's funny James calls my scars battle scars," Sofia smirked.
"Once again James is right!" Amber chuckled. "They are battle scars."
"They are? I never thought of they being that way."
"Fighting Vor was a battle wasn't it?"
"Yes. It… It was," Sofia recalled softly.
"But you won so if anyone dares to say anything to you when we're at ERA in the fall, they'll have to listen to me," Amber smiled.
"Thanks Amber. I do feel a little better."
"See? I told you it'd work."
"I guess that means I shouldn't doubt the *queen* for a second!" Sofia teased.
"Hold on my future advisor you're running on thin ice with your teasing," Amber smirked.
Sofia giggled as she felt her sister's fingers play with her hair before playfully swatting them away.
"You know what we hadn't done in a long time?" Amber asked as she began to lay on her stomach. "Have time to ourselves just the two of us. With both of us being so busy these days, I forgot how much relaxing this is. I've missed it."
"So have I," Sofia admitted. "We were so close."
"We can be like that again sister dear."
"I know but I hate growing up. There's too many changes happening all at once."
"I hate it too," Amber frowned. "But sometimes change can be a good thing like having you as a sister and Enchancia's protector."
"Mom and Dad are still trying to figure out what to do about that." Sofia paused as she let out a yawn. "I'm lucky neither of us got grounded for being dishonest with them for months."
The older Enchancian princess shrugged, putting her tiara on her nightstand. "You being trapped in the amulet was punishment enough to them." She giggled, hearing another yawn. "There's one thing about you that hasn't changed and that is being easily tired."
"Hey!"
"Well it's true Sofia."
"Would you mind if I say here with you? Just for tonight?" Sofia requested. She looked down at her feet. "If you don't want me to, I'll understand."
"Sofia!" Amber gasped. "You NEVER have to ask! My door's always opened for you no matter what."
"You mean that?"
"Yes I do. We're sisters. We're supposed to love and protect each other."
Amber was laying on her side again while she spoke, feeling her little sister's head on her lap.
Sofia's eyes grew heavy, slowly drooping until she dozed off as Amber stroked her hair until she too found herself drifting off to sleep peacefully.
