Years had passed, Desmond and Amber were now married, and they were now the new King and Queen of Enchancia. Amber was currently preparing a special royal dinner for some of the kingdom's greatest allies. Desmond had agreed to help his queen prepare the dinner, as he noticed she was very stressed over it.
"The king and queen of Tangu are coming. Their banquet was so perfect last month that Hildegard will rub it in my face if I don't top it," Amber nervously told Desmond. Desmond really didn't like seeing Amber stressed, and he knew Amber and Hildegard were always competitive over everything, so this had to be perfect or she'd feel like a loser.
Desmond helped set everything up with Amber, as he saw her frantically directing all the royal servants to prepare everything exactly like she wanted it. The guests would be arriving in only a few hours, and perfection was something the queen made sure everyone knew was the goal. However, only adding onto the stress, the royal knight, Sir James, had arrived at the castle after some long hard knight duties.
"Oh hey Amber! So what are we gonna be having for dinner? I'm starving!" James hungerly said.
"Oh, James… Please don't bother me. Desmond and I are working on making this royal dinner perfect. The king, and most importantly, the QUEEN of Tangu will be here…" Amber started.
"And you have to make your dinner ten thousand times more amazing than Hildegard's last banquet?…" James interrupted, "We've heard this millions of times, Amber! Well, alright, I'll let you guys be. Gonna head to the kitchen and grab a snack." James finished, as he left the room.
In the kitchen, the royal cooks were working hard making the food as deliciously perfect as possible. The feast would consist of various dinner dishes, accompanied with a cranberry punch that Amber had specifically requested. As the barrels of the punch arrived, so did James.
"What's that?" James questioned as he opened one of the barrels and saw what was in it, "Eww… I HATE cranberry punch! Can't we drink something else?"
"The queen has requested cranberry punch," one of the chefs explained.
"She did?!" James said in disgust. He thought of a way he could convince them to use some other drink instead. James then lied, as he tried sounding confident, "Well, actually…. Uhh.. Amber sent me here to tell you guys to serve another drink! take this cranberry punch away and bring some tea to drink instead!" James ordered.
The servants that had arrived with the barrels of cranberry punch obeyed, with tired and annoyed looks in their faces, they took the cranberry punch away.
Hours passed, and the time of the royal dinner had arrived. Desmond and Amber watched as The guests arrived. Many guests arrived, some of the ones that showed up were the king and queen of Corinthia: King Khalid and Queen Clio. Also, Tangu's King Zandar and most concerningly to Amber, the queen of Tangu, Queen Hildegard had arrived.
Desmond and Amber sat at their table, and everything was going very smoothly, but Amber was still too concerned to sit calmly. Desmond really hoped Amber would feel more relaxed, he was hoping it'd be a sweet dinner for them too, but all this time Amber had been too stressed to just relax and have a nice dinner with Desmond.
Right when Amber was about to start relaxing for once, the drinks were served, and Amber could hear some laughing. It was Hildegard.
"Hildy?" Amber called over to Hildegard from her table, "what's so funny?"
"Oh Amber, I would never serve tea with my spaghetti…" Hildegard said with disgust as she smirked.
Amber was so embarrassed, she hadn't noticed they were serving tea. What happened to the cranberry punch she had requested?! How could this have happened!? Amber was really upset, embarrassed and stressed. Hildegard's banquet would be remembered as being better than her royal dinner, and now she'd be made fun of for her choice of beverages. Desmond noticed Amber feeling upset, and he placed his hand on hers to try to comfort her.
"Amber, it doesn't matter if you didn't do better than Hildegard with the drinks, to me, you did better than her any day!" Desmond said as he smiled softly
Amber sighed, "you're just saying that because you're my husband…" Amber said, still feeling disappointed.
"Yes, Amber, and we haven't spent any time together today. Having you with me is the best thing about this dinner!" Desmond said this as he offered to pour Amber a cup of tea.
"Aww… you mean that?" Amber asked, as she extended her hand to have her tea poured.
As Desmond poured her tea, he answered in a loving tone of voice, "Yes Amber, I do mean it."
The rest of the dinner went smoothly, and Amber and Desmond got to spend some sweet time together during the dinner.
As everyone left, (except for James who was still enjoying the dinner), Amber asked one more question, "How did we end up having tea instead of punch anyway?"
Desmond just shrugged. However, James overheard this, making him blush and look guilty, he knew the tea was his idea.
The End.
