Primitive Method.
By Rain of Mystery
' I hope their doing better than we are, we don't have helmets."
"They'll know our secret thoughts."
" This was a raid they came here for us."...
Somewhere in the middle east.
Sirens sounding, people to places of worship and screams could be heard, people running trying to find shelter or go into their homes and lock up until this horror and doom had passed. Farmer with crops had fled fearing this was a bad sign and to leave would be wise.
The lights were in the sky that night, so many people to fled and hid or met in places of worship. Except for a few who chose to stay in their homes and wait until the danger would pass. Some didn't have a choice but to stay.
But all could hope they would survive for the night.
The lights in the sky hovered over a mile from the village. One mile from the crop circle that occurred in the field. The Shepards who have lived nomadic life for generations, were resting by a nearby well until morning to move the herds of the animals, it was night, and the invasion of the country had begun, hearing what had been going on in other countries like Europe and India, this was something they had never known before.
One of the Shepard's sons a young man, handsome and smart, his father had decided for everyone to remain in their tents, and no one is to come in or out what's so ever. They all hoped whatever was happening didn't come their way, and if it did, they hoped they could make it until morning, or fight to see another day.
Adil had no idea that this would be the night he would have to fight for his life and for his family's. His sister and him could see the lights hovering above from there were barely a mile away, his sister Nahla looked at him, and nodded, knowing it was time to go inside the tent with the family.
"Come on we have to go." she told him.
"This is going to be a dangerous night for all of us." he said to her. As the hurried backed. Their mother and father were all inside relieved to see their children back inside, as the quickly hurried to close the tent, the dogs could be heard barking outside more frantic, the wind was howling stronger, the sheep were bleating in fear and scurrying about. Then everything went quiet...
The wind stopped the lights from outside were gone, the sheep could still be heard running outside frantically, so were the dogs barking, they sounded as if they were attacking someone, warning with their barks and growls. Until a couple could be heard whining in pain. Whatever it was, it was there now. This was something no one was prepared for.
There was nowhere to run, there was nowhere to hide from what was to come from outside the tent. The tittering sounds startled them, the fire from outside the tent showed the shadows of what or whoever was outside. They were not human and didn't sound human neither. They saw them running around the tent they were trying to get in.
"What is that thing?" his sister asked in a whisper in fright.
"I don't know but it's not friendly, and it wants to harm us. We must not let it get inside." he whispered back.
"This is something we were not ready to fight." she replied.
The mother was panicking before they knew one of them charged inside broke into the tent, that was when the screams and scrambling happened, and in that moment, was when the mother in fear threw tea at the creature and in a shrieking shout, its skin was burning from where the tea had spilled on it. Then she took a jug of milk and threw at it burning the creature on the chest, the other one ran away. Chattering its weird sounds into the desert. The other managed to run out with a limp while holding its arm in pain.
They could hear the sounds of footsteps running away into the night. Nahla and her brother and the family were in shock of what had just happened. They had to tell what just happened and how they found a way to beat them.
They had to get the word out of what happened tonight, it could change the tide from this invasion, they had found away to beat them.
"We have to get the word out of what happened here." Nahla said to her brother.
He thought for a moment, and he remembered who can help. " Our cousin." he said.
" Our cousin?" Nahla asked.
" The one who works in the news station he can get the word out." he said. He said running to get the moped. They had to hurry, time was of the essence, many lives were at stake.
Nahla sat behind him as he drove to get to the news station, as they had reached the town, they could see those creatures running, and entering into homes, women, men screaming, so many were dead on the floor, they managed to see why and how. Mahla was gasping. "They have poison in their arm. How is this possible? We have to hurry, drive faster." she patted his shoulder.
He was driving as fast as he could, it was a old moped but it did the job. They could see the news station, and they hurried to the door knocking on it. Hoping someone was still there. Thankfully someone was. It was their cousin.
"Rayan!" Adil yelled as they went inside.
The moment they got inside Nahla and Adil explained what happened that night, Rayan hurried to get the message out, the news casters received the new information, they told their viewers what just happened, and how water was these creatures' weakness. Once it was out other news stations, and people who saw the news report were telling others shouting, and hurrying to get buckets, and whatever source of water they had at their disposal to protect themselves.
In a basement Merrill Hess was listening to the radio.
' We know the battle turned around in the Middle East, Three small cities there found a primitive method to defeat them. We have no further details at this time.'
The end.
