JJ had been laying on the floor for hours. Her breathing had gotten shallow, and she could barely keep her eyes open.

All the sudden the basement door swung open.

"FBI," said Hotch as he entered the room.

JJ wasn't sure if this was really happening or if it was just her mind playing tricks. Will didn't come to save her, he was death. Her husband was killed right in front of her. JJ wanted the team to come in and safe her, more than anything. So, her mind was probably disguising the man as Hotch, to protect itself.

"Clear," said Hotch before rushing over to JJ.

"I can't do this anymore," said JJ.

Hotch placed his hand on her shoulder.

"You're going to be just fine," said Hotch.

JJ shook her head.

"You broke me," said JJ as a tear ran down her face.

JJ felt how the handcuffs cut into her wounds again, causing her to cry out in pain.

"I can't breathe," JJ whispered.

There was such a thin line between feeling everything and nothing at all. Hotch noticed JJ's shallow breathing and she kept closing her eyes.

"JJ, stay with me," said Hotch.

Morgan entered the basement. He put his gun away before making his way over to Hotch and JJ.

"Is she," said Morgan in disbelieve.

Hotch moved JJ's hair out of the way and both agents were shocked to see the bruises on her neck. Hotch carefully placed his fingers on JJ's neck.

"She is still alive, but barely," said Hotch.

Morgan took a deep breath of relieve.

"Her pulse is getting weaker," said Hotch.

"The paramedics are on their way," said Morgan.

Hotch shook his head.

"JJ will be death by the time they get here," said Hotch.

The two agents realized that they were JJ's only chance of survival and Morgan took a deep breath before carefully picking her up.

"Let's get her out of here," said Morgan.

The image of Morgan carrying JJ out of that abandoned farmhouse would be burned into the agents' memories for life.

Reid covered his face with his hands, sobbing, as he couldn't bear to look and Rossi wrapped his arms around him, pulling Reid in for a hug. Emily just stood there, frozen, as the tears were running down her cheeks. Even Garcia joined them in the field, ready to be reunited with one of her best friends, only to be heartbroken.

Morgan placed JJ on the gurney before making his way over to Garcia, who was bawling her eyes out.

"The paramedics are doing everything they can to save her life," said Morgan.

Once Garcia had calmed down a little Morgan made his way over to Emily, who was still hadn't moved.

"Prentiss are you okay," said Morgan.

Emily was staring straight ahead.

"We should've protected her, we're profilers for god's sake," said Emily.

"Emily, look at me," said Morgan.

Emily turned to Morgan; her eyes were bloodshot from the tears.

"There is nothing we could've done to prevent it," said Morgan.

Emily nodded and Morgan pulled her in for a hug.

"Let's go to the hospital," said Morgan.
