"Fewer people than you think act with good intentions, Malachi." Mitsuhide shut the door behind him, an audible 'slam!' echoed throughout the near-empty room. He took one step towards me, then another, and another. Then he kneeled down before me. Yet with his height, he easily cast a shadow over me. A shadow illuminated in the palest shade of silver, like his hair.. "More take advantage of the good-hearted than you suspect, playing their sympathy with ill purposes." His smirk reappeared, and deepened.
"And they may be closer to you than you think."
Mitsuhide caught my chin with his smooth fingers, his low voice lighting scorching flames in my ears. And as his lips drew nearer, I-
'Living hell' was NOT an understatement..
Malachi's POV
Mitsuhide blew softly against my ear. And in all honesty, my mind was in an intense place at that very moment. "This is my manor. No one will come if they hear screams. Knowing that, what will you do?" He whispered, his voice low. I inhaled a sharp breath, feeling myself become more flustered just from his voice alone. 'What will I do? ..He's teasing me again, isn't he?!' I knew damn well that Mitsuhide loved my reactions towards his false threats. "..What will I do? Hm.. Does this work for you?" Crossing my palms for a bit of extra force, I moved to shove Mitsuhide using what strength I had.
It was one of the defensive techniques he himself had taught me, obviously. But before I could even lay a finger on him, Mitsuhide caught my hands in his. "What do you think you're doing?" He glared at me, frowning. I glared back and smirked, "What do you mean? I'm only using what you taught me." Then my smile fell, "I'm just trying to talk to you, yet you keep joking around." Frustrated, I pushed against Mitsuhide again. But he just stood there.. Not doing anything except taking all my force and anger.
Letting my emotions take control of me and bursting in here to talk to him, that was on me. Thinking that somehow I could solve a mystery no historian has any concrete theories on, that was on me as well, I'll admit it. But- "Rumors are just rumors, aren't they?" "Malachi.." "Just answer me! Is it really that difficult to say 'yes' or 'no'?!" Mitsuhide looked down at me and smiled, "..I am sorry. It seems I took my teasing too far." Suddenly, he released my hands, and I quickly found myself falling forward.
I landed on Mitsuhide's chest, or more specifically, he caught me. And he held me still, wrapping his arms warmly around me. I felt all my anger dissipate, but I wasn't going to give him whatever satisfaction he was looking for by doing this. "..What the hell are you doing, Mitsuhide?" "Do you not cheer someone up when they are sad? Is that not why you thought to come see me?" I could practically hear the smirk in his tone. But.. It also felt like he was telling me to accept his refusal to answer and move on, but I couldn't.. Maybe he knows that too, and he's trying to tell me that silence is all he can give me?
It was the best insight into his behavior I could think of. If only I had the ability to see into the hearts of others, that'd make all this so much easier. As much as I wanted to give a smart remark, I found no words in my throat. I couldn't bring myself to be upset with Mitsuhide caressing my back in warm, consoling circles. And.. I couldn't bring myself to stay mad enough at him to fight him off. How dare he get me so riled up and then treat me like royalty. How dare he.. make me feel better..
"..Do you feel better?" I made a small noise within my throat, indicating that I wasn't going to answer him. Then he released me. "It seems my powers are limited. Come. I shall find you someone more suitable." Mitsuhide smiled at me, a.. near-genuine smile. What.. Is he talking about?
