Mobile Suit Gundam : The Reborn Moonlight
Chapter 01 : No Moon In Sight
Author's Note : Heya, I'm back with another story, this time Gundam-related. I've been rewatching Gundam X recently, and I just had the urge to create this, it's as simple as that.
I love Gundam crossovers, whether it's on a Gundam video games, like the G Generation series, or the Super Robot Wars series. As a result, I love reading stories about them too, so I wanted to make one as well.
This story would focus on two different main characters from other Gundam shows getting thrown into the Gundam SEED timeline. It's a popular format, I know, but I love reading them, so why not?
Disclaimer : I don't own the various Gundam series.
After War (A.W) 15
The 8th Space War, a war that was started between the New UNE and SRA, fighting for their respective beliefs regarding Newtypes. The SRA believes them as the next evolution of mankind, occurring to those who have immigrated to space, the SRA wanted them to be treated as gods, using them as a tool for their ideology.
The New UNE believed the opposite, seeing Newtypes as mere mutation who could be exploited as a tool of war.
The war took a sudden dive into further confusion, when both leaders of their respective organization were suddenly murdered by the traitorous Frost Brothers. They posed as soldiers of the New UNE to sow the seed of war, and to ultimately cause as much destruction and death as possible. All because they felt that their existence weren't appreciated enough.
Trying to stop the war is the crew of the Freeden II, who were just finished meeting with the enigmatic DOME on the moon, learning about the truth of the Newtypes from him.
On the lunar orbit, two Gundams were watching the war that they have painstakingly caused.
"Let's do it, brother. This is the beginning of our new era!" Olba Frost, pilot of the Gundam Ashtaron HC shouted the words with glee. He transformed his mobile suit into its mobile armor form, a large launcher-like weapon protruding from its back.
Hearing the words, the older brother of Olba, Shagia Frost gave out a small smirk. He led his Gundam Virsago CB to stand atop the MA form of the Ashtaron, its claw extending to grab the handle of the launcher. "This is it! Transmit the microwave!" After Shagia said the words, a line of blue light started being transmitted from the microwave transmitter on the surface of the moon to the wings of the Virsago.
With the preparation underway, the brother duo aimed the launcher at the remaining forces of the New UNE and SRA, who is currently too preoccupied with fighting one another to notice the weapon of mass destruction aimed at them.
Suddenly, the Gundam Double X stood against them, its Twin Satellite Canon already deployed, ready to fire when the energy is received from the microwave emitter.
"That's the Double X!" Olba shouted with trails of sweats on his cheeks, knowing exactly how destructive the Satellite Canon could be.
Garrod Ran, the pilot of the Double X gritted his teeth."I won't let you make the same mistake!" He pressed a button on his G-controller, signalling the microwave transmission system to send the energy to his Gundam.
"I-Impossible! The transmission system should be under our control!" Shagia is in no better shape than his brother, perhaps feeling fear for the first time ever since the battle started.
"Brother! What should we do?"
"Shoot the Double X now!" Shagia ordered.
"But the charge isn't-" Olba tried to refute the idea.
"It doesn't matter!" Shagia shouted, urging his brother to fire right this instant.
"I won't let you!" With the charging of the Twin Satellite Cannon completed, Garrod pressed the trigger on his G-controller. Twin blue beams of destruction burst forth from the barrels of the Twin Satellite Cannon, heading towards the two enemy Gundams.
In an act of desperation, the Gundams of the Frost brothers prematurely fired their incompletely charged Satellite Launcher, its red beam of death headed to meet its blue counterpart.
The two beams of the two satellite weapons clashed with each other, seemingly equal at first, but it became apparent that the Twin Satellite Canon had the upper hand, pushing back the beam of the Satellite Launcher.
Soon enough, the massive energy of both weapon created an equally massive explosion, its sheer size making it almost impossible to escape from. Garrod could only watch helplessly as it engulfed him and his Gundam. "Tiffa, I-I won't die! I'll definitely... make it back to you!" Those were the last words that he uttered moments before he blacked out.
Anno Domini (A.D) 2312
The final showdown between Celestial Being, a paramilitary organization willing to do anything to preserve peace, and the Innovators, a group of rogue of Innovades who wished to rule the world from the shadow is nearing its climax.
On the surface of the moon stood the Gundam Exia Repair II, and on its opposite side is the 0 Gundam. Both were engaged in a brutal fight to settle the victor between their respective organization. Both machines have already took considerable damage, both of their cockpit exposed by slash marks done with their respective melee weapons.
"I was expecting to finish you off in your crippled 00 Raiser, but this is something I didn't expect... The Exia, huh? Looks like you have the same idea as I did." Ribbons Almark, the leader of the Innovators faction who managed to stole the abandoned 0 Gundam said the words with a hint of amusement.
"Ribbons Almark, you're the distortion that plagues the world, I will be the one to cut you down!" Setsuna F. Seiei, piloting the Exia R2 spoke the word with clear conviction, wanting to get rid of the man who orchestrated all of the sufferings that he and his friends have endured. He flipped the GN Sword Kai over and pointed the sharp end at the egotistical man's Mobile Suit.
"Then try it, Setsuna F. Seiei! The very same Gundam who once saved you will be the end of you!" Ribbons challenged the boy with an arrogant smirk, throwing away the GN Shield on its hand to free it, allowing his 0 Gundam to grab his GN Beam Saber with both hands, he took on a stance, ready for the impending close combat duel.
Both Gundams charged at each other, their melee weapons aimed at each other's cockpit, intending for this attack to be the last one exchanged between them. Both pilot shouted at the top of their lungs.
"DIE!" Ribbons shouted, looking at the exposed cockpit of the Gundam with pure hatred as he did so.
"THIS IS THE END!" Setsuna shouted back with matching ferocity, the only thing on his mind is ending this conflict as soon as possible, even if it cost him his life.
Both Gundam crashed at each other, stabbing through the cockpit of one another, at least that's what it looks like at first glance.
As the dust settled, it could be seen clearly that both attack failed to land their mark, narrowly missing each other by a few inches.
Both machines started breaking down, having had enough beating done to them, at first only small explosions here and there, but the damage sustained by both machines are clearly fatal enough to cause the reactors to explode in a matter of seconds.
In this very short time span, Ribbons Almark lamented at his inability to settle things. "So this is it... with Veda being taken over by Celestial Beings, there's no chance for me to revive myself by uploading my consciousness to another body..."
He looked over at the nostalgic interior of his old 0 Gundam, he sighed as the explosions consumed the both of them. "Tell me, 0... If that boy never looked at us in such awe that day... would things be different?" Those were the final thoughts of the madman who tried to rule over the world. He died alone, a fitting end for such a self-centered man.
...Or at least that was how it's supposed to be.
"Guh..." Garrod Ran slowly opened his eyes, finding himself on the familiar cockpit of the Gundam Double X.
"Where... Am I?" He muttered, his head still fuzzy and his thoughts jumbled.
"The last thing I remember was fighting the Frost brothers near the moon." That's right, he remembered when both parties fired their respective destructive satellite weapons against each other.
"Am I... dead?" He said as he pinched his cheeks.
"Ouch, that still hurts. So I'm still alive and kicking then." He rubbed his swollen cheek, he pinched it harder than intended.
"Crap! I'm in the middle of a war! I have to check on Tfifa and everyone from the Freeden!" He opened his communicator and tried to call them. He waited and waited and yet no answer could be found. The monitor only displaying the word 'Out of Range'.
He slammed his hand on the console, frustrated at the lack of an answer. "Dammit! What's going on out there?"
While his mind wondered about the situation, his eyes drifted on the console around him. It's the same old console of the DX that he had gotten used to.
Except there's an extra set of button that he didn't recognize. "What the? I could've sworn that those buttons were not there before..." As he said the words, his curiosity dictated his hands to press those buttons.
A beep could be heard and the monitor started displaying information on the screen.
"Solar Recharge System working on optimal conditions? What is it talking about? The Double X has no such system installed." Garrod wondered aloud.
"Did Kid install these without telling me? Or did I doze off when he explained about it?" He tried rationalizing the strange situation.
Garrod shook his head. "No, that can't be it. I'm a scatterbrain, but there's no way that I wouldn't notice something like this until now..." He denied the thought, he had memorized the layout of the Double X after all.
"Whatever, for now I should just head back to the moon to settle things." He grabbed the G-controller and started moving his Gundam. At least until he noticed another weird thing.
"Uh... Which direction to the moon?" The Gundam's head rotated around, searching for a way back. All he could see is the empty vastness of space, with the occasional debris floating around.
"This isn't good, who knows what could happen to everyone the longer I spent goofing around?" As he moved his Gundam around in a frantic search, he noticed another weird phenomena.
The damage on the Double X, all of them are gone, and what's more, his shield and rifle, which were both destroyed during the skirmish against the Frost brothers, both equipment are now somehow in the hands of his Gundam once more, looking good as new. His shield doesn't even look the same. His red Defense Plate shield now replaced with the Divider shield of the Gundam X Divider.
"...Okay, there's DEFINITELY something weird going on!"
Not too far from Garrod's current location, another man is experiencing a similar phenomenon.
The man wore a light green pilot suit, he immediately removed his helmet to reveal his short light green hair, his purple eyes looked around, analyzing the situation.
This man is Ribbons Almark, the leader of Innovators faction, who once wished to rule over the 'inferior' mankind, acting as if he was some sort chosen one qualified to guide the foolish masses.
He checked over the monitor to scan the surrounding area, finding nothing of interest.
"How strange, I'm still inside the 0 Gundam... I distinctly remembers receiving a nasty gash near my cockpit during the fight against that boy." He muttered, the memories of the fight playing inside his head.
He looked around him, finding no such hole in the cockpit. His mind having a hard time comprehending his situation.
"What's more..." He pressed a button to reveal an image captured by the back camera of the Gundam. He could see small lights floating around the back of the 0 Gundam, these are GN Particles that is commonly used nowadays. Yet, what bothered him isn't the existence of the particles itself. "The color... It's emerald green, the same color used by a genuine GN Drive!" He marveled at the sight.
Celestial Beings somehow didn't retrieve their stolen GN Drive from the 0 Gundam while he was unconscious. He was quite ecstatic about this discovery, but he has to cut his celebration short, because there's a bigger mystery to solve, such as the fact that the basic shield of the 0 Gundam is now replaced by the one used by the Reborns Gundam, complete with four GN Fangs stored inside the shield.
He cupped his chins with his hand. "How did this happen? And how did I get transferred to this place? Could this be caused by that boy's awakening as a genuine Innovator? Is such thing even possible?" He started theorizing about his circumstances, yet in he end, he has no actual way to confirm it.
"Let's forget about that for now and start with the basic questions... Where... exactly am I?" He was just about to start searching the surrounding area for a clue on his whereabouts, before his sensor detected an object closing in, judging by the size, most likely a Mobile Suit.
He turned his Gundam around to face the impending Mobile Suit, as it got closer, his monitor could finally display the image of the approaching Mobile Suit.
"That unit... Isn't that... A Gundam?" His monitor locked on into the new arrival, showing a dark-blue unit equipped with the standard armaments of a rifle and a shield. The unit closing in is indeed a Gundam, judging by the V-shaped antennae on its head.
"Those are normal thrusters? It's not a unit equipped with a GN Drive then...?" For Ribbons, this is quite fascinating. A Gundam were supposed to be the pinnacle of technological advancement, meaning one that does not use a GN Drive is an anomaly.
The 0 Gundam took an aggressive stance, pointing its GN Beam Gun at the newcomer, signalling it to not do anything funny. The other Gundam simply stopped and raised its shield and one arm, signifying its non-hostile stance.
Suddenly, beepings could be heard. "Hmm? He's trying to establish communication? His communicators seems to work fine under the influence of the GN Particles... How fascinating."
Ribbons pressed a button to accept the communication call. The monitor revealed the face of the other pilot. A relatively young boy with long black hair and green eyes.
The boy raised his hand and waved it. "Uh... Hey, I'm not here looking for trouble, man. I'm just lost and I need directions."
"Lost, huh? How unfortunate. I'll have to inform you that I'm currently facing the same situation as well." Feeling that he has nothing to lose, Ribbons freely revealed his own situation.
"What?! Crap, this ain't good..."
"You seems to be in quite the hurry."
"Yeah, I'm... I'm just worried about my friends." The boy answered with a forlorn look on his eyes.
"Are they in some sort of trouble?" Ribbons inquired, feeling a bit curious about the boy.
"Well, with a war that's going to decide the fate of humanity currently in-progress, I'd imagine so."
"A war? What are you talking about?" Sure, the A-LAWS and the Innovators have been facing Celestial Being's resistance for quite some time by now, but it hardly could be called a war, more like skirmish against insurgents.
"...Have you been living under a rock, buddy? Everyone knows about it! You know, the war between the New UNE and SRA. If both forces are not stopped, then everyone would suffer the consequences. Just like what happened 15 years ago!"
Ribbons raised his eyebrows at the boy's explanation. "I assure you, I fully understand about the current state of the world, yet those organizations that you mentioned are not common knowledge as you've claimed."
"What the heck? Are you going senile at your age, pal?"
"Hmph, I have no time to discuss such nonsensical matter. I have my own question for you."
"Alright, ask away."
"What's your affiliation? And why are you using a Non-GN Drive unit resembling a Gundam? It will just paint a big target on your back."
"Affiliation? I'm just a simple Vulture, man. And for my Suit, it doesn't just resembles a Gundam. it IS a Gundam!" The boy answered, feeling a bit offended.
"I cannot accept that. A unit calling itself a Gundam must be equipped with the latest technological advancement, including of course, GN-based technology."
"Huh? I don't get what you're talking about at all. What's this Ge-En stuff anyway?"
Ribbons shook his head exasperatedly. "How hopeless. Know that the reason I'm talking to you leisurely like this is because I don't see your outdated unit as a threat."
"Hey! Stop mocking my Double X! He's my partner that has been with me through thick and thin!"
"Sentimentality towards a machine? How childish."
The boy rolled his eyes. "Anyway, speaking about Gundams, yours sure is strange, what's with the weird green light floating around it?"
"You don't know about GN Particles? Now who's the one lacking common knowledge between us?"
"I'm just curious, man. I've seen all kinds of Gundams and none ever used anything like that!" The boy stated, defending himself from the jab.
"There's more counterfeit Gundams out there? What an insult."
"Grr, enough talking about the Gundams then. We started on the wrong foot, so let's just do over with a simple greeting. Nice to meet 'cha, I'm Garrod Ran, the blazing Mobile Suit pilot! And this here is my buddy, the Gundam Double X"
"...Hmph, I'll grace you with my name as a simple courtesy then, boy. I am Ribbons Almark, pilot of the... 0 Gundam." He said the name with a small nostalgic smirk, gently touching the console of the Mobile Suit with his hand.
"Oh? What's with that smirk? Now who's the one getting sentimental towards a machine?" The boy remarked with a teasing grin.
"Enough with the frivolities. Let's just assess our current situation. You mentioned a war earlier?"
"You really are clueless about the current events of the world..."
"Just humor me!"
"Okay then... The war started a few days ago. It's pretty huge, most of the fighting took place near the moon."
Ribbons widened his eyes. "The moon? That's impossible!"
"Huh? How so?"
"I was in the moon quite recently, and I could say with the utmost confidence that no such war between those factions occurred!"
"Hey! That's what really happened! I swear!"
"You mentioned something happening 15 years ago too, what happened back then?"
"The colony drop, duh! There's no way you wouldn't know about that one!"
"Colony... Drop?" Ribbons couldn't believe what he's hearing right now. There's absolutely no way that something big like that would go unnoticed by him. Either the boy is spouting nonsense, or there's something else at play here. "...When were you born?" Ribbons asked, theorizing that some kind of time-travel might be the source of this problem.
"What's with the sudden change in topic?" Garrod answered the strange question with another question.
"Just answer it!" Ribbons urged, starting to lose his patience.
"Alright, geez! I was born shortly after the war ended. So around 01 AW."
"AW?"
"After War, you know, the calendar we used nowadays."
"After... War..." Ribbons muttered the word with a sense of fascination. "What's the current year?"
"15 AW. Okay, these questions are starting to get ridiculous, man!"
"Hmm... Perhaps I understand a little bit better now... We didn't exactly came from the same era."
Garrod furrowed his eyebrows. "What does that even mean?"
"From where I came from, it's currently 2312 AD, short for Anno Domini..."
"Huh...? HUUUH?!" Garrod yelled, staring at the man incredulously.
"It's hard to believe, but that would explain why we did not share common knowledge."
"H-How is that possible?!"
"I do not know, the last thing I remember was when my mobile suit exploded. I lost my consciousness, and when I regained it, I already found myself here..."
"T-That's..." Garrod wanted to deny it, but he also remembered the last thing that happened to him before he lost his consciousness. "...The same thing happened to me actually."
"I see... This would complicates things then. We do not fully understand about our current situation. We could be in the past, we could be in the future, or maybe... we do not exactly share the same timeline."
"Timeline?" Garrod once again asked.
"Yes, that means we both might be from a separate dimension from one another, in simpler terms, we could be from different worlds. Your world adopted the After War as their calendar, where mine didn't." Ribbons explained, not really bothered by the impossibility, having seen the 00 Raiser quantized itself.
"So does that mean I somehow got transported to your world?" Garrod asked, hoping to get the opposite answer.
"I cannot answer that for certain, because this might not even be my world, meaning, there is a chance that we know absolutely nothing about this world."
"N-No way! Tiffa...!" Garrod's expression turned into one full of grief, remembering about his promise to always stay by her side. Now there's no way for him to fulfill that promise. Tears started forming on his eyes.
"Are you afraid that there's no way to send you back?"
"Even if we did find one, it might already be too late... My friends... they're in the middle of a war, and without me being around..." Garrod didn't get to finish his words because of a sudden interruption.
"Are your allies incompetent?"
"H-Huh?"
"Do you truly believes that there's no chance for them to survive without you? Are they that incompetent?"
"No... They're not incompetent! Witz... Roybea... Jamil... Everyone... They're the best damn pilot in the world!"
"Then what are you worried about? Wipe those tears and start finding a solution to your problem, tears alone won't solve it for you."
"R-Right... Thanks, Ribbons... You're a pretty swell guy after all." Garrod said as he wiped the tears away, feeling a bit better now that he realizes that Tiffa is in good hands.
"...I did nothing. I am merely ordering you to think rationally."
"Still... It made me feel better, so I guess I owe you one."
"Then I expect you to repay me one day." Ribbons suddenly ignited the GN Vernier of his Gundam and went off in a random direction.
"H-Hey wait, where are you going? Do you know the way back to Earth?" Garrod followed suit, igniting the thruster of his own Gundam to follow suit.
"I do not know, but it's better than just standing around doing nothing."
"I guess you're right, but aren't you afraid of running out of juice for your thrusters?"
"Clearly you know nothing about GN Drives, allow me to explain..."
The Archangel, the namesake ship of the Archangel-class. A mobile assault ship designed to support the five new experimental mobile suit of the Earth Alliance dubbed the G-Weapons.
The ship is in the middle of an onslaught of attack by ZAFT forces, who managed to stole 4 of the G-Weapons from the neutral colony of Heliopolis, causing the destruction of the space colony in the process.
The ship currently only have one mobile suit defending it from the attack, The GAT-X105 Strike, piloted by a Coordinator civilian named Kira Yamato, he volunteered to pilot the mobile suit in order to protect his friends, who were forced to evacuate on the Archangel after the destruction of Heliopolis. Other than the Strike, the Moebius Zero mobile armor piloted by Mu La Flaga is the only other defender of the ship.
Things are not looking well for the crew of the Archangel. Both the Strike and Moebius Zero are preoccupied with fighting the four stolen G-Weapons.
"This is bad... I have to protect everyone!" Kira muttered to himself, doing his best to survive the multitude of shot from his adversaries.
The Strike is engaging the Duel and Aegis, keeping his distance away from the two. The Duel suddenly decided to switch tactics, rushing forward with its beam saber in hand. It aggressively tried slashing at the Strike, but thanks to the Aile Striker packs equipped on the Strike, it had superior mobility, allowing it to avoid the slashes.
The Aegis were providing covering fire for the Duel, but it avoided targeting the vital part of the Strike, such as the cockpit, intending to capture it rather than destroying it. "Kira... If it's really you in there..." Athrun Zala, the pilot of the Aegis muttered. He suspects that the Strike Is being piloted by his best friend from childhood, Kira Yamato, having briefly encountered the young man during the theft of the G-Weapons on Heliopolis.
Because of that, Athrun doesn't really want to kill the pilot of the Strike, but the pilot of the Duel, Yzak Joule is far too hotheaded to listen to his words.
Meanwhile, on another side of the battlefield, Mu La Flaga is once again testing his luck against incredible odds, facing two advanced mobile suits in a weaker mobile armor. "Try and hit me boys! You can't even scratch the paint of my Zero if your aim is as sloppy as that!" He taunted inside his cockpit with a smirk.
The Moebius Zero might be weaker than a mobile suit, but thanks to Mu's superior piloting experience, it became quite the formidable opponent for the Blitz and Buster. Their shots failing to land even a single hit.
As the two separate fights reached a stalemate, The Archangel is taking quite the beating from the fires of the automatic firearms of multiple GINN type mobile suit. These are the main mass-produced mobile suit of ZAFT. It did not feature any beam-based weaponry, meaning their damage potential is lower than the G-Weapons.
The Archangel could endure the barrage thanks to the heavy armor on her hull. Realizing this, the GINNs switched their tactics, closing in to the bridge. Their reasoning simple, with none of the crew alive, this ship is as good as destroyed.
"Captain! Four GINN units are heading this way!" One of the operators of the Archangel, Tonomura announced.
"Prepare the CIWS guns! Don't let it get close!" The current acting captain of the Archangel, Murrue Ramius ordered.
As ordered, The Archangel fired her arrays of CIWS guns, shredding three of the GINN units before they could do anything. Unfortunately, the last one managed to avoid every barrage.
The surviving Ginn raised its bazooka-type weapon, aiming directly at the bridge of the Archangel, intending to finish it in one shot.
"No! Archangel get out of there!" Kira screamed inside the cockpit of the Strike, worried about everyone on the ship, especially his friends. He wanted to help, but the Duel and Aegis didn't leave an opening for him to exploit.
Murrue stared at her impending doom, realizing that there's nothing that she could do about it. 'It can't end like this!' She screamed inside her head, closing her eyes as the GINN prepared to pull the trigger of its bazooka.
Out of nowhere, a sudden pink beam passed through, hitting the bazooka of the GINN. The weapon instantly exploded on its hand, temporarily blinding the pilot.
As quickly as the beam came, a white and blue mobile suit swooped in with a beam saber on its hand. It made quick work of the GINN, kicking it away from the bridge of the Archangel, followed by a single slash, bisecting it into two.
The mobile suit didn't bother looking at the explosion of its enemy, turning to face the bridge of the Archangel. With the explosion occurring behind it, the stare of the their savior looked absolutely astonishing to the crew of the Archangel.
"Captain, we're detecting a heat-source, another mobile suit is joining the fight." Tonomura reported, he looked calm, but by looking closely at his face, it would be quite obvious that he's very glad to be alive right now.
"Yes... I can see that..." Murrue muttered, looking at the white and blue mobile suit in complete awe.
"No, I mean, the heat source is detected near the Strike. The one in front of us... the sensor didn't register its presence!" He explained, not believing the words coming out of his own mouth.
A few minutes ago.
During their journey to find a way back to Earth, Ribbons had explained about the basic of GN-based technology to Garrod, but he didn't went in full-detail on why said technology were created. Ribbons told Garrod nothing about Celestial Beings or The Innovators. Feeling that there's no need to delve further into that.
"So do you understand now?" Ribbons asked.
"Yeah... Kinda? Those green lights could be used as an unlimited energy source, propulsion, and for defense. Plus, it disrupt the electronics of nearby machines too. Did I got that right?"
"Correct, but for some reason, it did not work on your suit. You could still establish communication with me, even as we speak."
"Talk about convenient. The people on my world would definitely do anything to get their grubby hands on something like this." Garrod remarked, thinking about how much horrifying the war on his world would be if such technology were widespread.
"True, but creating a GN Drive is no easy tas-'" Before he could finish, Ribbons heard another beeping on his console, he pushed a button to display what his sensor detected on the monitor. "Are you detecting this as well, Garrod Ran?"
"Yeah... It's a... ship? It's under attack by some weird looking mobile suits."
"Do you recognize these designs?"
"Nope. Never seen them before." Garrod answered, mono-eyed mobile suit like the one currently displayed on his monitor reminded him of the Bertigo and the MA form of the Ashtaron. And these suits are clearly neither of those. "How about you?" He asked back.
"No, they are not familiar to me as well." Ribbons replied, while he finds these discoveries fascinating, there's another thing on his sensors that caught his interest, he zoomed in to get a better look at it. "These are... Gundams? And they're fighting one another?"
"Oh wow. So this world have those as well!" Garrod exclaimed excitedly, looking at a white Gundam struggling to dodge the attacks of two others. "What do you think we should do, Ribbons?"
"Hmm? You're fine with me taking charge?"
"Well, you seems to know what to do most of the time. So yeah, sure, I'll let you decide." Garrod said with a shrug. "Though if you ask me, I'd prefer to help the one struggling right now, the white one. I feel bad looking at it, you know?" He added.
"Fine. Let's help the white one then. You go help it, while I deal with the ones assaulting the ship. Is that acceptable?" Ribbons said, not refuting Garrod's idea. He looked at the white mobile suit as he said the words. 'That one resembles my 0... So I...' He momentarily shook his head. 'What's gotten into me? Since when do I dictate my actions based on such a frivolous reason?'
"Alright, I'll do it! But... Are you sure you're gonna be okay with helping the ship? You're gonna face multiple enemies there, you know?"
"Hmph, this 0 Gundam isn't just for show!" He activated his GN Verniers, guiding his Gundam towards the ship, taking aim at an enemy who managed to slip pass the ship's defense. "Ribbons Almark, declaring the beginning of the intervention!"
How's that? Ribbons seem pretty OOC huh? That's just how I want to portray him, as for the reason... in due time. Also, sorry if the chapter felt exposition-heavy, I gotta establish stuff first.
Garrod and Ribbons, quite the odd choices for the position of main characters, huh? For Garrod, I enjoy his character, he's quite cheerful for a Gundam main character, isn't he? I find it quite fresh to have him as a main character. He's not brooding, he doesn't have any special psychic powers or trainings. All he has is his wits and strong will to live for the sake of the one he loves. It fascinates me so much that I wanted to make a story with him as one of the main character.
As for Ribbons... He's an asshole with a god complex. Not someone that you would want as a main character, but was he always like that when he began his career as a Gundam Meister? This simple question prompted me to make a story about him as well, to contrast with Garrod.
Update will come as soon as I decided to not be a lazy ass, so yeah... be patient, okay?
I'll see you next time.
