Chapter 1: A Lone Ranger in Tokyo
"I am so glad you agreed to visit UA, Izuku-Kun!" Izuku bit on toothpick and shrugged.
"It isn't like I want to, but the mayor agreed to see if we can get more capes in the area ma'am." Izuku said, not really caring making the woman laugh.
Izuku was dressed in a blue button up shirt, with the neck open and out of the jeans. He was wearing brown boots. He had a scar over the bridge of his nose, one of the many after the incident.
"Please, ma'am makes me feel old. You can call me Nemuri." Nemuri Kayama, Aka, Midnight, a teacher in UA, went all the way to Hayabusa to pick him up. He would be flattered, if he wasn't so annoyed.
As they drove into the city, Izuku was looking around, impressed on how it all looked. If only half of the work was invested back in Hayabusa...
"So, I heard that Rangers are like cowboys." Nemuri started "In UA we have Snipe, he is a hero that uses a gun and dresses like a cowboy. I bet you two will like each other."
"He sounds lovely." Izuku answered as he looked out the window. He started to get bored, so he reached into his pocket, and took out a loose cigarette "Say, are we arriving any time soon?" He asked as he lighted a match.
Nemuri smiled and nodded "Five minutes give or-What are you doing!?" She snapped the smoke out of Izuku's mouth and threw it out of the window.
"Hey! I was smoking!" Izuku complained and Nemuri huffed.
"Students like you shouldn't be smoking! Even less in my car!" Nemuri said.
"What's the big deal!? I do it all the time!"
Nemuri sighed "That's not the point. In UA; students aren't allowed to smoke or drink, so-"
"Great, why do I care about it?" Izuku interrupted and smirked as he twirled the toothpick in his mouth "I am not joining to become a caped, ma'am. I just came as a favor."
Nemuri smirked "Very well. We're here."
As Izuku got out of the car, he let out a whistle seeing the UA campus "Nice building."
"Thank you! I am glad you like it, Young Midoriya!" Izuku looked down to see a rodent in a suit stretching its hand to him "I'm Nezu, principal of UA! Thanks for accepting my offer for tea."
Izuku raised a brow, bent down and shook Nezu's paw "Thanks for the invitation, I guess."
As Nezu guided Izuku into the building, the kid from Hayabusa was still way too impressed with the whole structure. And Jesus, there is enough grass in campus to make a big part of Hayabusa look better.
"I have to say, Young Midoriya," Nezu snapped Izuku out of his thoughts "I am rather impressed seeing your records in the Ranger Academy. Seeing them I had to make a double take, because you seem to be better than most of my third years."
Izuku smirked "What can I say; I am just that good. Besides I saw capes before. Gotta say Principal; not impressed."
Nezu nodded "I imagine, that fiasco with Kartel might had been... traumatic."
Izuku snapped his tongue as Nezu opened the door of his office "No comments."
Izuku sat down on the couch, crossed his right leg over his knee and stretched his arms. "Would you like some tea, Young Midoriya?"
Izuku shook his head "I'll pass."
Nezu nodded as he served himself a cup "Now, you might be wondering; why did I want to meet with you exactly?" Izuku nodded "You see; I had been campaigning for a couple of years now to improve the quality of life in Hayabusa. Make a functional transporting system, make more schools and hospitals, more green zones, etc."
Izuku raised a brow "But?"
Nezu took a sip of his tea and let out a satisfied sigh "The tea is really good... are you sure you don't want any?"
Izuku rolled his eyes "I'm fine Principal. Can we continue?"
Nezu nodded "Of course; when I suggested my plan to the Association, it was quickly denied. The reason was that it was too expensive or and too dangerous. After all, the lawless district is the home of Kartel."
Izuku nodded "Sounds about right." He threw his hands to the air as he stretched "There is always the good intention, but never the action."
Nezu nodded "Until now! You see Young Midoriya; I have a plan to help Hayabusa and I need your help to do it!"
Izuku raised a brow "Sure?"
Nezu chuckled "It is quite simple, if a hero that represents Hayabusa, becomes famous. If a hero that comes from the lawless district, becomes popular. It will help to clean the image of your home, right?"
Izuku frowned "You want to make me propaganda?"
"If you see it as that, yes. What Hayabusa needs, is a symbol. Just like how All Might is a symbol representing peace and justice, Hayabusa needs one to show that the people living there, are good ones." Nezu said and Izuku clapped his hands and stood up.
"Then look for another sucker. I know how you people work. Because of ideas like that, my friends died." He turned to leave and Nezu sighed.
"Young Midoriya, this might be the last chance for Hayabusa." Izuku stopped at the door and looked at Nezu "The government is this close to removing all support for Hayabusa, and forcing the people there to leave, to send heroes to destroy Kartel, in any way possible."
Izuku narrowed his eyes and walked to the desk "What is that supposed to mean?"
Nezu closed his eyes "If that happens, civilians in Hayabusa will be forced to leave immediately the district, and if they refuse, they will be treated as villains and treated to be affiliated with Kartel, and treated like that."
"They can't-"
"You know how much of a problem Kartel is. The government does too. And they want to eliminate it as soon as possible."
Izuku slapped the desk before passing a hand across his hair. "If I agree to this bullshit plan... how much help will Hayabusa get?"
"If you go up the ranks quickly, even a top 10 spot, all that you want." Nezu said and Izuku nodded.
"I have some conditions." Izuku said as he sat down. Nezu nodded "First, you want me to represent Hayabusa, I will be a Ranger. I will dress like a Ranger, follow the Ranger code, and fight like a Ranger." Nezu started to take notes "Second, you will do all in your power to avoid making Hayabusa into a battlefield. I know you have the money, I know you have the influence. And third, I want money sent to the district each month to help it. You make sure of that, I am in."
Nezu nodded "You have my word."
*Next Week, Hayabusa*
"Do you have all, honey?" Inko asked Izuku that nodded. He finished packing and Nemuri should arrive soon to pick him up.
"I think I do Ma." He smiled at her and hugged her "I'll be fine."
"I know that." Inko said "I am more worried how my boy will do there." She smiled and looked up to him "Try to behave and not drive your teachers and classmates mad."
Izuku laughed "I won't promise anything Ma."
As he left, the district was there waiting for them, holding a sign of 'Good Luck Hero of Hayabusa!'
Izuku smiled as his classmates and seniors patted him on the back and rubbed his hair, saying that he will do great, to save the district.
To make them proud.
The mayor Nasaki, an elder man went to him and handed him a new Ranger uniform "We are counting on you, Ranger Midoriya. Save this district."
Izuku bowed his head "Count on that Mayor."
As Izuku hopped on Nemuri car, the people of the district was still cheering for him, making him smile. Nemuri smiled at him "Excited?"
Izuku nodded "I guess so..."
"I guess so..."
