Harry is determined to be a Freak.

He is special. He knows it.

His quick jaunt down Diagon Alley proved it.

When he entered the dingy pub leading to Diagon Alley, everyone stared at him. The other freaks were staring at him and shouting before there was a mad rush to shake his hands.

He was different from the other freaks.

The rest of the trip had blown his mind.

It was a daunting task. To be a freak in this new world. Goblins. Hags. Vampires.

It would take more than having a different appearance and biology to be a freak.

Extra appendages, shrunken head, pet toads!

It would take more than having powers to do strange things.

No. He will have to spend a lot more time working on it to be a freak.

He has to be able to do what the other freaks can't. He has to… he has to… make a list!

That's right!

A list of everything the other freaks can't do. And he will do them! He will be so different from the other freaks that they will have no choice but to call him a freak.

The first item on the list soon revealed itself.

Harry was in the wand shop, getting himself a wand.

The small man with bright eyes had looked at Harry and called him special. His scar was special! He had done something none of the other freaks had done before. He survived the Killing Curse.

The old man was expecting great things from Harry.

But his wand wasn't special. No, it had a brother wand, a twin. Another one like it.

Harry didn't need a wand that wasn't special.

On his way home, Harry had picked up stray twigs and branches. He was going to make his own wand!

Harry worked on it whenever he had time. He nicked some wood polish and sandpaper from the garden shed to smooth down the rough surface and give it a nice shine.

It looks like the wand he got from the old man. A different type of wood. But the shape and length is similar.

This will be his new wand. It doesn't have a magical substance for its core. But Harry doesn't need one.

He's been making strange things happen without a wand. And he will continue to be special.

He has to get started on his list.

One – he is the only survivor of the killing curse.

Two – he has a special scar that everyone stares at.

Three – he has a special wand.

He will add to his list as he learns more about the other freaks.

Harry smiled to himself.

His new friend Hedwig hooted softly in her cage.

August went by without any further incidents or new revelations.

Harry spent his time reading his new books on magic and playing with Hedwig. He paid close attention to his books on magical history and famous witches and wizards through the ages. He needs to know what can be done with magic and is considered possible if he was to defy magical logic. He memorized the past accomplishments of famous wizards, magical inventions, and important events that have occurred.

One recurring theme he found is that throughout history there will always be a single witch or wizard that is born with great power and talent. They are able to accomplish what other wizards have long considered as impossible. Merlin can transform himself into a dragon. Nicholas Flamel is an immortal. Ekrizdis created demons that can suck out your souls. And most recently, Albus Dumbledore, hailed as the greatest wizard in modern time. They were abnormal. They were different from the other wizards. Harry is excited to find out what Dumbledore can do, when he arrives at Hogwarts.

So far, Harry has a new list of things that he was considering. His first list is for what he has already achieved so far, that makes him special. His new list will be for things that are considered impossible or at the very least unachievable by normal wizards.

One – transform into a magical creature

Two – become an immortal

Three – create demons? (Maybe)

Four – fly without a broom

Five – shapeshifting

Six – wandless magic? (does his new wand count?)

Seven – world peac…

Oops, his imagination was getting ahead of himself.

Harry packed up his belongings and hoisted them down the stairs for his trip to King's Cross station.

Arriving at the station, Harry remembered what Hagrid told him. He had to run into a wall that was between platform nine and ten.

How does he know which wall to run into? Should he try out all of them?

It would be painful if he guessed wrong. Harry didn't like pain.

Walking up to the wall, Harry pressed his hand against it. He stared at his arm that was sunk up to his elbow in the wall.

Whoa. Cool.

A brief struggle with his luggage later, Harry was sat in one of the empty carriages. Looking out the window, he watched the crowds bustling outside the train. It looks like they haven't noticed him, which he was thankful for. He probably would have been mobbed without Hagrid there to shield him. He can spot families coming in through the barrier, some of them jumped out of a fireplace with green flames, and occasionally a popping sound accompanied with the appearance and disappearance of a witch or wizard.

Hmm, looks like teleporting is normal for freaks. That would be nice to have. He will have to learn it as soon as he can.

The Hogwarts Express was soon on its way.

Not long after, the door to his carriage was pulled open.

"Excuse me, do you mind? Everywhere else is full."

Harry gave him a polite nod and invited him in.

They were soon embroiled in a discussion of wizarding sweets. To Harry's delight, he discovered Chocolate Frog Cards. He would have to start his own collection.

Studying the card in his hand, it detailed Albus Dumbledore's achievement of defeating Grindelward and discovering the twelve uses of dragon's blood.

A visit from a blond boy named Draco Malfoy and a short exchange later, Harry decided to compile a profile for each new person he's met.

So far, he has Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy. The two boys behind Malfoy didn't say a word so there's not much he can do about them for now.

Ron Weasley – In awe of my scar. Likes to stare at it whenever he gets the chance. Has a lot of siblings. Can eat a lot. Thinks the killing curse is wicked?

Draco Malfoy – James Bond wannabe. Likes to talk about his father. Jealous of my scar?

By the time they reached Hogwarts, it was dark outside.

The floating candles in the Great Hall was fascinating. And there was a singing hat.

'Ahem. I'm the Sorting Hat. The Hat. Remember to place emphasis on the H' The hat snarked inside his head.

'Oops, sorry Hat.' Harry apologized internally.

'Now, let us see. Yes, yes. Very interesting. You want to be special do you? Not just an average wizard… Hmm… yes… there's talent, a lot of talent… stubborn too. A freak eh? My advice to you, is to just do what you want. You are already special, no doubt about that. You will find that great wizards are all in a special category of their own. They are all abnormal in their own ways. Yes. I see greatness in you… and the determination to achieve your goals… You will do well in-'

"GRYFFINDOR!" The Sorting Hat cried aloud.

Harry joined the Gryffindor table and enjoyed the feast. By the time he was laid in his new bed, he had several new profiles to add.

Hermione Granger – Likes to read. A lot. Doesn't care about my scar. Thinks I'm famous. Likes to talk a lot.

Neville Longbottom – In awe of my scar. Very shy and nervous. Searching for his toad is his pastime. (3 times so far)

Hagrid – Gigantic. More than twice my height. Very friendly. A huge fan of Dumbledore. Favourite phrase is: "Dumbledore said-"

Albus Dumbledore – Greatest wizard of modern times? Likes to say things no one understands. Barmy, all the powerful wizards are kinda barmy? Eccentric? - hm can't remember who told me that. Will have to research more.

As Harry settled down and prepared to sleep. His last thoughts were 'Wow. This is really comfort-zzz'
