I don't own Doctor Who.
Martha's Journey Begins.
Martha crashed to the ground as the Time Vortex portal landed her back on the Earth, far from the Master as the Toclafane dive-bombed the city of London before her, the sounds of their lasers echoing in the air along with the screams of terror and pain as the evil spheres slaughtered everyone they spotted - not for the first time, Martha wondered who the Toclafane were; she and Jack had heard from the Doctor in the warehouse that one of the systems the Doctor had locked were the communication systems of the TARDIS (while she was surprised the TARDIS even had a communication system, Martha guessed it made sense a ship even as wonderful as the TARDIS would have one), so the Master's ability to find allies was questionable.
The Doctor himself had been mystified to say nothing of Jack, who didn't even know a race called the Toclafane. It wasn't until the Doctor told them both that the Toclafane was a Time Lord myth, told to their children as a kind of scary fairy story to dissuade them from changing history because the mythical Toclafane were spirits of Time Lords who changed history, only to go back in time and paradox their younger selves out of existence.
It sounded scary and she wasn't even a Time Lord herself, but as she glared at the Toclafane or whatever they were called, Martha might have had better things to think about but she could not help but feel the story said something about Time Lord culture before the Daleks destroyed it. She knew the Doctor's stance on changing history; while he would change it slightly, the Doctor was extremely careful. So those stories and lessons had a strong hold on what the Doctor believed in.
Martha glared in horror as the Master inflicted this nightmare on the Earth, and the sounds of the screams made her flinch. She touched the key which was now the only thing protecting her thanks to its perception filter, but she would need time to accept her new reality as she looked for ways to bring the Doctor's plan to fruition.
"I'm coming back," she vowed, glaring up at the sky, seeing not only the Toclafane, but the Valiant; she knew the aircraft carrier which might have come straight out of Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons was likely somewhere else, but she knew the Master was up there. Somewhere. And once he realised she was gone, he would likely hunt her down like an animal, so Martha knew she would need to be careful.
As she walked away, barely able to bear or stand the sight of the Master's plans reaching their fruition - why the hell couldn't the Doctor have landed them at a point in time much earlier? Yeah, it might wreck the Laws of Time he had told her about, but if they had come earlier they could have laid low, much like they had done during that disaster with the Weeping Angels, and come up with a better plan for dealing with the Master - Martha hurried away without any clear idea of where she was going.
She just needed to get away from here and form her plans for dealing with the Master and following the Doctor's plans. Right now she knew that her major priority was to find a way of getting out of Britain with some help; the Doctor had warned her not to use the vortex manipulator too much, but Martha had already guessed that.
Martha would need supplies, food, clothing, blankets, and sleeping bag, and whatever else she could think of; she was new to this, and she would need other supplies in the future, but for now she only thought of the essentials.
She would come back, and she would enjoy seeing the Master pay for the pain he was inflicting, Time Lord or not, he deserved to pay and answer for his crimes.
