AN: The following is the result of a discord server project, where OCs submitted to my Total Drama stories were submitted again to participate in a pokemon league. This league is not your standard gym challenge format however. It is an actual league, with the trainers acting as the 'teams' that participate in it. This following story covers the matches of Division 1 of the league. Divisions 2, 3, and 4 will all also get their own stories.
The Championship Tournament will get its own story.
A bit of set dressing surrounding these events: These trainers are all considered professional, and have all built up small fanbases prior to competing in the league. They are all at least passingly familiar with the names and general attitudes of each of their fellow competitors.
The six pokemon they are using in the league are not necessarily the only pokemon they have, but they *are* the only pokemon they are allowed to use for the duration of the league.
At the end of every battle, not only will the trainer's win/loss ratio be updated, but each individual pokemon/mega/dyna(giganta)max will also be given an updated win/loss ratio. That part is more for fun.
Each Trainer will battle each other Trainer in their subdivision (3v3 Single Battle). The 2 highest win ratios from each Subdivision in a single Division will move on to a Conference A, while the 2 lowest ratios will move on to a Conference B, Each Trainer will battle each other Trainer in their conference twice. Once in Single 1v1 and Once in Doubles 2v2. The 2 highest W:L ratios from each Conference will move on to the Championship Tournament. Trainers tied for 2nd highest ratio will compete in interim conferences (playoffs) and the highest ratio from those matches (3v3 Singles) will move on. This should result in 16 trainers making it to the tournament.

JERRY VS VANESSA
3 V 3 Battle, No Substitutions
"Go!" Both trainers shouted as they threw their pokeballs out over the turf of the stadium.
Blue beams of light erupted from the devices and took form.
"Smear…" A Smeargle on Vanessa's side of the field flicked its paintbrush tail like a weapon.
"Dittooo…." A Ditto immediately transformed into the Smeargle before it over on Jerry's side of the field.
JERRY'S DITTO VS VANESSA'S SMEARGLE
"Wow…" Jeremy checked his pokedex. "She's sketched some powerful moves onto that thing. Good thing we've got them too, right Ditto?"
"Ditto!" The impostor Smeargle nodded.
"He would send out a Ditto first." Vanessa sighed. "But we have something that Ditto doesn't, right Smeargle?"
"Smeargle." Vanessa's Smeargle nodded as it attached a wide lens to its eye like a monocle.
"Zap Cannon!" Both trainers announced as their Smeargle each fired off a bolt electricity from their tails, colliding in the air and exploding in a barrage of lightning, making the hairs of everyone in the stadium stand on end from the static.
"Inferno!" They both shouted once more.
This time the Smeargles shot out great bellowing flames from their tails, but while Jerry's went wide, Vannesa's was able to engulf Ditto in the hellfire.
"Don't panic, Ditto!" Jerry encouraged. "You know what to do!"
"D-Ditto!" The Ditto winced the burn it received from the Inferno attack. "Dit!" It rose its head and stared down Vanessa's Smeargle.
"Sheer Cold!" Jerry announced.
"Hypnosis, quick!" Vanessa countered.
Both Smeargle began to draw their attacks with their tails, but Vanessa's Smeargle had the advantage of being used to its own movepool, just as Ditto was about to complete its Sheer Cold, it fell prey to the Hypnosis of Smeargle and fell asleep.
"Now then, Smeargle…" Vanessa pointed. "Lets show Jerry and his Ditto how to complete a Sheer Cold quickly!"
"Smeeaaarrr!" Smeargle quickly drew the Sheer Cold attack with its tail and a sub-zero blizzard wind rushed Ditto by, immediately taking it out of the battle.
"You were almost there, buddy." Jerry returned his pokemon. "But you did a great job demystifying her Smeargle. I'm aware she's given trainers trouble with it in the past. Now then…Primarina, come on out!"
"Priii!" The selkie like pokemon announced their presence on the turf, its Choice Specs worn as shades.
JERRY'S PRIMARINA VS VANESSA'S SMEARGLE
"Moonblast, Primarina!" Jerry called out.
Primarina wasted no time and Smeargle was immediately hit with a powerful beam of energy.
"Smeargle, get up and Zap Cannon!" Vanessa ordered.
"Smeargle Smear!" Smeargle growled as it fired off another bolt of electricity towards the Primarina.
"Moonblast to counter it!" Jerry retaliated as his Primarina followed suit, shooting a beam of energy right at the Zap Cannon, the two attacks exploding as they collided.
"We're getting nowhere fast with this, Smeargle, let's kick it up a notch!" Vanessa ordered. "Sheer Cold again, let's go!"
"That won't work a second time now that I know how long it's supposed to take!" Jerry retaliated. "Primarina, Moonblast right now!"
"Riiinaaaaaaa!" The Primarina shot another Moonblast into Smeargle, knocking it onto the turf.
"Smeargle!" Vanessa called out.
But Smeargle was unable to continue battling any further.
"Hey, you got past one of them." She smiled as she returned it to its pokeball. "And since switching pokemon mid-match isn't allowed in these fights…"
"Mudsdale, I choose you!" Vanessa called out.
"Muuuuuu!" The mule like pokemon bellowed as it reared up after being sent out.
JERRY'S PRIMARINA VS VANESSA'S MUDSDALE
"You're lucky you're dealing with Moonblast…" Jerry smiled. "But don't underestimate its power. Primarina, show them!"
"Protect!" Vanessa shouted as Mudsdale surrounded itself with a forcefield completely blocking the energy beam from Moonblast. "Now Mudsdale, Stealth Rock!"
"Muuuu!" Pointed stones flew out of the ground and into the air, hovering around Jerry's side of the stadium.
"Keep it up, Primarina, that thing's defenses won't hold out longer than your Moonblasts will!"
"Primaaaa!" Primarina shot out another energy beam, squarely hitting Mudsdale's side.
"Mud…" Mudsdale managed to shake the attack off, and nibbled on some of its Leftovers to restore a bit of health.
"High Horsepower, Mudsdale!" Vanessa called out.
"Primarina, point black Moonblast!" Jerry countered.
Mudsdale charged, weighneighing, at the Primarina, who in turn gathered light into an energy beam and shot it at the approaching pokemon.
After the smoke from the collision cleared, both pokemon were still standing, though both were roughed up by the exchange.
Mudsdale, however, was looking a bit better after a bite from its Leftovers.
"We can take another one and they can't Mudsdale, High Horsepower one more time!" Vanessa ordered.
"Daaaaalllle!" Mudsdale charged toward the Primarina.
"Primarina, fire when you see the whites of its eyes!" Jerry announced.
"Priiii…" Primarina began charging a Moonblast.
"Mud!" Mudsdale lunged at the Primarina.
"Mar!" Primarina let loose the Moonblast.
Once again a massive explosion of dust and smoke and light obscured the vision in the stadium.
"I admit…" Jerry confessed to Vanessa as it became clear her read on the situation was accurate.
"I wasn't expecting to be this hard pressed right away in the competition."
He returned his fained Primarina to its pokeball. "You'll get them next time."
"You've been putting up a good fight yourself." Vanessa responded. "Right Mudsdale?"
"Mud." The pokemon nodded along.
"Then I suppose you've earned it." Jerry tossed a pokeball and caught it before throwing it out over the field.
"Absol!" Jerry's Absol adopted a battle ready stance, only to be immediately pelted by the pointed rocks set up by Mudsdale.
"Sollll!"
"Hang in there, Absol!" Jerry cautioned. "Counting on you! Now then, you know what to do, Night Slash!"
"Absol!" The pokemon's claw went directly into Mudsdale's weak point. "Ab." The pokemon smiled, proud of itself, as Mudsdale fainted.
As Vanessa returned Mudsdale to her pokeball, she took a harder look at the Absol, and noticed a brace with a shining stone on its leg.
"So it's hardball then, is it?" She smiled. "Mudsdale, you were great, you made him bring that thing out, after all. Now get some rest while I return his favor."
Vanessa sent out her last remaining pokemon of the three allowed for the battle.
"Gyarados!" The Gyarados roared, the stone on its headdress sparking brightly.
Jerry smirked. "So we did bait it out, Absol."
"Sol." Absol grinned.
"Gyarados, are you ready?" Vanessa asked.
"Gyarados…" Gyarados gave a small nod.
"Mega-Evolve!" They both announced.
JERRY'S MEGA-ABSOL VS VANESSA'S MEGA-GYARADOS
"SOL!"
"DOS!"
Both pokemon roared at each other, raring to show off their power.
"Absol, we're under pressure, you know what to do!" Jerry shouted out. "Perish Song!"
"Absol~! Absol~!" The pokemon began to sing a haunting dirge.
"Gyarados, they're trying to stall for time to force a tie, and we won't let them!" Vanessa determined. "Aqua Tail!"
"Dooos!" The pokemon's tail became bright glue and liquified as it was swung towards the Absol, who nimbly managed to use the rocks set up by Mudsdale to jump out of the way.
"Now, Absol, Stone Edge!" Jerry called out.
"Absol!" The Absol kicked all of the floating, jagged rocks towards gyarados, each one pelting the serpent.
"Gyarados!" Vanessa called out.
"Gyara!" The pokemon roared out, still able to fight.
A soft echo of the Perish Song rang throughout the stadium.
"Earthquake when it reaches the ground, Gyarados!" Vanessa ordered.
"Sol, soooolllll!" The Absol landed on the shaking earth.
"Come on Absol, you can keep going!" Jerry encouraged.
"Absol!" Absol stood up with regained footing and confidence.
"Aqua Tail one more time, Gyarados!" Vanessa called out.
This time, Absol was not quick enough to dodge out of the way, taking the brunt of the attack,
"You aren't the only one who can learn how fast their opponents move." Vanessa smiled.
"Good." Jerry smiled back. "I wouldn't want the first match of the season to be a cakewalk. Absol, send out another Stone Edge!"
"Absoool!" The Absol once again knocked the stones towards Gyarados, who unlike, Absol, was not blessed with the speed necessary to dodge the attacks, and this time, they found their way into its weak points.
"Gyarados!" Vanessa called as Gyarados struggled to support itself.
An echo of the Perish Song rang throughout the stadium.
"Ugh…it's all coming down to this." Vanessa determined. "It can't take another hit from any of our attacks, but…"
"They can't take another Stone Edge, Absol." Jerry determined. "If we have the opportunity to finish this off before Perish Song takes effect…" Absol leapt up into the air. "We take it! One last time, Stone Edge!"
"If we can't dodge it…" Vanessa took a breath. "We'll overpower it! Gyarados, Iron Tail that Stone Edge back!"
"Gyarados!" Its tail became a stainless steel as the pokemon swung it toward the impending Stone Edge rocks.
As the rocks collided with a tail, a giant puff of dust and dirt obscured Gyarados.
Time stopped.
Jerry and Vanessa both looked on determined.
The referees along the sides of the stadium prepared their flags.
The crowd came to a near complete hush.
…
…
…
And the dust settled to reveal that Gyarados was just barely too slow to avoid the bulk of the attack, as it lay fainted on the ground. Vanessa and Jerry both returned their pokemon, as the fans in the crowd cheered.
"That was a good fight, Vanessa." Jerry held out a hand. "Really had me on the ropes there."
"Yeah, same to you." Vanessa shook the hand of her opponent. "Don't think you'll be as lucky next time."
"Hopefully there is one." Jerry smiled.
"Oh there will be." Vanessa laughed.
