Luigi shifted the Poltergust 3000's straps on his shoulders for the umpteenth time that night as he entered the humble observatory room. The strange vacuum was obviously not intended for such prolonged usage: it was only getting heavier with time, and the straps were digging into him.

With a quiet sigh, he closed the door behind him and drank in the room. He didn't feel any malicious presence there—in fact, the room was rather empty. It was small, with only a globe atop a dresser, a chair and a telescope. That and the coating of dust atop the small selection of furniture (somehow even worse in comparison to the rest of the unclean mansion) gave the impression that it was a room not given much love.

The floorboards sounded out their familiar creaks as he stepped toward the telescope, ghosting his fingers across the tube. His eyes slid over to the opened window. A very clear night sky greeted him, along with many twinkling stars. For a moment, it put him at ease.

"I always wanted to go to outer space..." he mumbled to himself before grabbing the telescope and looking through its eyepiece.

If anyone were to ask Luigi how he was after leaving the haunted mansion of the Ghostly Galaxy, he would say that he had been very brave and absolutely had not needed to hold Mario's hand as they had gone back through the mansion in order to exit it.

But that was for later. At that moment, his legs were wibbly-wobbly, his eyes were scrunched closed and Big Bro's hand was receiving the squeezing of a lifetime. The occasional boo's laugh didn't help his nerves (or Mario's hand).

"We're out," Mario eventually said.

Luigi opened his eyes to dead grass, which for the first time in his life was a relieving sight. With a loud sigh, he slumped to his knees, finally letting go of Mario. A comforting hand patted Luigi's head.

"I never wanna be in another haunted mansion ever again," Luigi muttered. "Can we go home?"

Mario frowned sympathetically. "Not yet."

Luigi whined. He knew why they couldn't yet, but that didn't stop his disappointment.

Mario held a hand out for Luigi to grab and pull himself up. With that, he finally turned his attention toward the sky.

Although he did know that he wasn't currently on his home planet, or even home galaxy, the stress of everything made him ignore that for the most part. At that moment, with his bro at his side and himself away from those giggly boos, he finally took in what lay before his eyes.

A large candid star's rays brightened a dark cosmic blue, with green-hued nebulae swirling about and thousands of tinier stars proliferating the expanse. Aside from the nearly inaudible footsteps of a nearby jack o'goomba, it was so very, very quiet, giving one all the more room to indulge in the sight.

"It's very pretty," Mario said, looking up along with Luigi.

"Yeah..." Luigi returned. "I never thought I'd..." He trailed off, too transfixed.

Even if for just a moment, the two stayed there and enjoyed a wish granted true.

A/N: I tried to get the exact dialogue, but I could not find it. Apologies.

Anyway, "Luigi's Mansion" was first released in 2001 while "Super Mario Galaxy" was released in 2007, so it took six years for Luigi to go to space!
