Chapter #1: The Adventure in This Desolated World!

*grunt*

A sudden urge of clutching a part of a body is imminent for any individual. Suddenly collapsing on the ground, lying flat on their stomach - that's what most people with fighting abilities or any superpowers utilize, after being in a victorious or a defeated battle.

However, it's a different story for this quartet.

Slowly sitting up on their hips, looking at themselves as a mess. The group's glances switch from side to side, viewing a new environment that they haven't experienced in their lifetime. The weather was simply fair but waking up in the middle of nowhere was bothering them since regaining consciousness.

"Huh? Where are we?" One certain individual donning her reddish witch attire broke the ice.

"I-I'm not sure but certainly this is not Belzerg…" A well-developed blue arch priest answered unsurely.

"C-C-Could it be… could it be that…" The tallest individual in her armor suit spoke emotionally until she stood up and lusciously stares at the sky. "W-We are lost?!"

"Are we even at Axel, Kazuma?" The wizard asked one more time to the lone boy on his adventurer gear.

"Well, duh! What do you think, Megumin? I'm not seeing any monsters or resources, it's all dirt! And they're over my body too!" Kazuma, answered in a higher tone, complaining of being soiled with bruises all over his body.

"Yeah, in fact, we are still in a battle with a rainbow toad!" The wizard added, wiping off any excess dirt on her attire. "Eugh!"

This realization made the bluish individual curl her mouth and went ahead to scream as she claws Kazuma's attire in horror.

"Kazuma! Kazuma!"

"Yes, Aqua. I'm Kazuma." He replied nonchalantly.

"Where are we?! How did we get in here?! A goddess does not deserve to be in a deserted place like this!"

"Huuuh? But I recall you sending us here and you even dare to ask me that?" Kazuma retorted, sending Aqua into a pause.

"Well, the toad almost caught us so we have to resort to one last thing," Aqua replied.

"Oh, I didn't know you could pull the magic of summoning a door in front of us, Aqua." Megumin chimed in.

"What? I don't even have the power to do that, we just ran through the door in front of us and ended up being here." Aqua elaborated, much to the frown of both Kazuma and Megumin.

"You are critically smart and dumb at the same time," Kazuma said to Aqua.

"Wait, what's that supposed to mean?! Do I take it as a compliment or criticism?!" Aqua complained in response.

"Wait, if Aqua didn't summon it, how did the door end up on our way?" Megumin asked.

"It's far from possible to answer that. But first, we should move out for a few distances." Kazuma plotted a plan for the team, after realizing that they are talking for a few minutes.

"Yeah, a goddess shouldn't be peckish and needs to be replenished, and-"

"Hey, Darkness, can you give me a lift on your back?" Kazuma went to the taller knight, who nodded quickly.

"Yes, Kazuma!" Darkness said.

"Kazuma, you're ignoring me again!"

"Huh? I thought I heard a fly." He sarcastically replied. Kazuma's head went staring at Aqua, cocking an eyebrow at Aqua.

"Kyah!" Aqua pouted in reaction.

Meanwhile, Megumin was less impressed with the current conversation that she was hearing. Soon after, they moved out of their initial position, walking away from the sun.

One hour later

"Hey, there's a sign!" Megumin cried suddenly which made the group stop. "It says 'city '."

"Wait, really?!" Aqua replied in excitement.

"Yeah, you can read it from there."

"Okay, I don't know how long we will be walking but we need to fasten the pace!" Kazuma exclaimed with pride as he gestured to move forward. "Darkness, move!"

"Yes, Kazuma!" Darkness replied while her back was asymmetrical as Kazuma was behind her, giving him a piggyback ride. Both Aqua and Megumin noticed that their fellow mate's knees were quivering violently, contrasting with her facial expression. "Giving you a ride on the back is painful but giving myself a struggle is way more pleasurable!"

"Ehhh…" The duo replied slowly.

"Where in the world are we?" Kazuma asked as he hopped off Darkness' back, curious at the current sight that they are looking at, while the mouths of everyone went agape after seeing the appearance of the city.

The place almost resembles a futuristic utopia that is years ahead of them, features a few skyscrapers and uncountable fancy establishments.

"The buildings are so taller than the ones we have on ours," Megumin added.

"This is ridiculously magnificent!" Aqua cried in joy after seeing familiar logos of different shops. "A goddess should live in this kind of environment, it favors the needs of them, especially food and drinks!"

"Oh? That's a fancy way to say booze." Kazuma sneered in response, causing Aqua to frown with crossed arms below her chest. "Why won't we take a look around? I'm sure it's too good to be true that we're stuck in a modern city in the middle of nowhere."

With that, the quartet began to take a stride around the mysterious district, which was filled with such establishments that took their curiosity to a higher level, especially for both Aqua and Kazuma.

"I don't see any adventurer's guild here." Darkness said.

"It's because we're not in a medieval dimension, Darkness," Kazuma responded.

"It's full of… of… unknown structures!" Megumin commented.

With all of the silent breeze coming through their skins, a loud belching sound roared through the streets, causing the quartet to become shaky and horrified.

"Wh-What was that?!" Kazuma asked.

Suddenly, Darkness realized the possible danger as she tries to wield her sword; however, none came out of her pocket, subsequently sharing frights with the group.

"K-Kazuma, why don't you do something?!" Megumin complained.

"Huh? Darkness doesn't even have her sword and you didn't even bring your staff." Kazuma replied.

"My staff? Nonsense! My staff is safely secured with me and I will show no mercy to whoever is causing terror and-" Megumin paused once she felt that her staff was missing, eventually horrified at the thought that her weapon was gone.

"And I don't even have my weapon as well and for Aqua…" The adventurer glared at the goddess, who looked at him with a denial look. "Well, she's Aqua, after all…"

"Hey!" Aqua exclaimed, automatically becoming serious with Kazuma. "I own a weapon too, you know! And it's right… here…" She patted her sides, but felt nothing and realized the same fate as the others, sheepishly chuckled and replied to Kazuma. "Well…"

But Aqua was not done as a sudden belching sound was heard again but all eyes are focused on the water goddess when the sound was echoed loudly throughout them. It turns out that the sound emanated from her stomach, causing her to laugh nervously.

"Guess that's a relief, hehe…"

The trio sans Aqua scowled at her for hiding the truth but since the sound was found. Kazuma thought of something.

"Hey, since we're here, why don't we find any food or drinks that we can find?"

"Yeah! Sounds great, Kazuma!" Darkness exclaimed with happiness.

"I feel like the walking took my energy out," Megumin added.

"Then let's go to that store over there!" He gestured straight to a familiar store, causing for Kazuma to be in awe. "Holy… is that 7/11?!"

"The 7 what?" Aqua asked.

"Do you wanna get your food or ask another dumb question?" Kazuma replied.

"Of course, I wanna get one!"

"Then let's move!"

The group ran towards the popular convenience store and once they entered, all of their faces turned to stars when they saw an array of necessities in front of them. From foods to beverages, hygienic materials to school supplies, everything was available for them to look at and wander.

"Oh, my goddess!" Kazuma cried.

"We are definitely missing a lot!" Megumin said.

"Okay, go ahead, guys! You can get what you want!"

Everyone was crying joyously like they were kids as they rushed towards the counter and the sections to pick out any items that interests them.

After what seemed a shopping galore, the gang gathered around an empty counter, grabbing the items that they bought overall. Kazuma, one by one, checks the product but he stopped once he holds a leather belt. The belt ultimately leads to the assumption that some masochist bought the leather as his eyes gaze towards Darkness with an unimpressed look.

"I need a replacement…" She explained.

"For what?" Kazuma asked for more elaboration.

"...uhmm… for myself?"

"But you don't even have a belt." Kazuma paused, realizing that this conversation might get longer than he picks up the pace on grabbing their items. "You know what? You can keep it."

Darkness' eyes lit up as she heard the approval from their captain.

While picking up his pace, Kazuma stumbles upon a crate of alcoholic drinks and he thought that some goddess picked up the drinks, staring at that person with disgust.

"What? It isn't enough, I'll go get more-"

"Nope! That's enough! You can't carry a crate nor the team!" Kazuma bluntly spoke up to the goddess, who did not take the response lightly as she cried loudly.

"You're so always rude to me, Kazuma! And you're just lambasting me with my personal preferences while I don't throw at yours!" She complained.

"Oh, really? What about-"

"No-no-no-no! Please don't bring up any of them!"

"Since we're in an odd place and not in a hurry, I'll let it slide," Kazuma said, making Aqua smile back at him. "Then why don't you help me with these?"

"Sure…"

The water goddess simply obliged the order of Kazuma as she picks up the crate that she bought; however, her strength wasn't her strong suit, struggling to move a few inches. This blunder left the others slapping their face in disappointment.

30 minutes later

Heavy breathing surrounded the hearings of the team, carrying the heavy load that is their shopping carts until they could not go further as they instantly dropped the load to the ground, collapsing to the ground and lying on their back.

"Didn't expect we're carrying loads like we're receiving a huge reward," Megumin said.

"But we didn't do anything besides walking…" Kazuma replied.

But out of nowhere, Darkness stood up from her feet and picks up the four carts that brought the others down, beginning her slow but progressive stride. The trio was left amazed by the brute strength of their resident crusader.

"Don't worry, guys! I got your back!" Darkness said until her face became flushed, visibly overjoyed by the lifting struggle. "Because I wanna get strained by the weight of these carts! Yes, I can lift more!"

"Oh, boy. She really is that strong…" Aqua said.

"...and perverted." Megumin completed the sentence.

Meanwhile, Kazuma got distracted by a piece of paper that dropped beside him as he picks it up to read the content.

"Wanna stay and rest outside? Go camp at Kindangakko Academy! A wide and frigid field place for you to stay with a special surprise waiting for those who will be there!"

That piece of information certainly lit up the system of the adventurer, who decided not to waste time and told his acquaintances to move forward and obliged as the team began to walk while Darkness kept a good grip despite having a moment for herself.

The quartet soon arrived at a wide, open-spaced gate, leading to the Kindangakko Academy. An unbelievably building, the thought that spurt around the faces of the adventurers. Once they stepped through the gate, they were met with more spacious surroundings, blended with the colder temperature due to the sun being set off the sky. They say that 'there's more to this than meets the eye', which could be the whole reaction that the adventurers have gathered.

But there's more than that.

They took time to explore the vicinity of the academy, but one thought crossed the mind of the sole male of the team.

"Isn't this too empty for a place like this?"

"Kazuma! Kazuma! Kazuma!" Megumin called, poking his shoulder continuously to break the thoughtful perception.

"Huh? What is it?" He replied.

Megumin gestured straight as Kazuma looks back to see a surprise that brought his teammates to be dumbstruck. They are looking at a wide and occupied campsite, which featured multiple tents and a campfire in front of them. But what occupied meant was it was literally settled by a bunch of girls, sitting on a cold ground, eating a bowl of noodles.

Meanwhile, the campers, on the other hand, stopped at what they are currently doing as they set sights on Kazuma and the gang as if they have finally seen survivors of a zombie apocalypse. The girls, which consists of five individuals, looked at each other as they nodded in unison.

Breaking the ice, the pink-haired girl stood up and came forward to the adventurers with a serious look, surprising Kazuma even further that he can make a verbal response.

"Hmmm?" Was the only thing muttered by the camper.

When he thought that they were all alone and probably owned the place, his mind came crumbling down inside once he realized that he was surrounded by girls. With this current predicament, he always contemplates one thing.

"W-W-Wait! They are like five of them and three on my back, and all of them are girls. What is this? Am I in a freaking harem?!"

A/N: Forgot to mention that this story is just a side project of mine, in case I am bored of making new chapters to my other projects (e.g. The Amazing Race: Anime Edition, and Anime Valley Wrestling).

Plus, I thought of how this story will progress - by adding more characters! We have seen a bunch of new characters but they will be revealed in the next chapter! Do you have a hunch on who are they? Let me know!

And speaking of more characters, do you wanna see your favorite characters? Just send me a message and let's see what we can do about it!

And that's it for now, see ya later!
