Author's note 1:

A unique take over a character I and many others love and prefer out of the three dudes. It'll be an experiment to see it this will get good.

Darkness…

He, like any other natural being, feared darkness. But he didn't fear it that much, and in the moments prior to his awakening he strangely found comfort in it. Like he had been living inside it; used it to his advantage.

He opened his eyes and coughed lightly, bringing a fist to his throat. He gulped whatever acidic material had formed inside his mouth and winced at the taste. He supposed there could be much worse tastes but that was just unbearable to his taste buds.

"Shit." He mumbled under his breath and blinked at the strange tone his voice possessed, as if he was speaking through a radio or something. It was deep and just… different.

He looked for answers around him and realized he was in some sort of forest if the vegetation was anything to consider by. He closed his eyes and placed both palms of his hands on the ground and slowly pushed his weight up until he could safely stand on his feet. His legs woobled a little bit and he waited until he was stabilized.

He shifted his attention to his hands and gasped. His skin was of a dark violet colour with big and clear veins displayed. He glanced at his whole body and saw how he wore some sort of heavy combat armour, the chest area was especially protected. There was an unknown red symbol resting on the chestpiece.

He touched his head and grasped the sides of a hood. He wore a hood too, although the material felt different at his touch. He licked his lips and noticed the texture of his own teeth: they were sharp, similar to those of a predator.

It was then that a big revelation crashed upon him.

Who… who am I? What am I? He blinked in confusion. Why am I so tall?

He stumbled ahead and walked on something.

TING!

They were… dog tags? Clearly used in the army or a branch aligned to that. He squinted his eyes and read a name on them.

Tomko. Tomko Davis.

Was it his name? Or was it someone else's? Did these dotags belong to him? Was he a soldier who fell in combat? What the Hell was he?

He shook his head before the storm of thoughts would spin his mind further. Better find a way out of these woods before a bear or a group of monkeys assault me for intruding in their home.

Well, at least Tomko (he decided he would use that name until he found more informations on his predicament) found out how sassy his attitude was, with jokes being thrown back and forward. A detail to be considered for his personality.

Tomko patted his hood and armour and nodded to himself. He walked away and stayed on guard for any assault, he didn't even have weapons with him.

Though it didn't take long for him to hear the blessing sound of running water. He increased his speed and stopped. Tomko smiled at the sight of a small river, he approached the stream of water and kneeled down. He scooped as much as he could in the closed palms of his hands and drank.

"Oh, yes!" He exclaimed and basked himself in the sensation. His throat was dry as fuck, he had been very lucky to find the river. Tomko stopped when he caught sign of his reflection in the water, he peeked in and analyzed his face. His skin's texture was the same as his skin on his hands, but his lips' colour was even darker. He opened his mouth and stared at a very sharp set of teeth. His eyes vibrated with a deep and bright violet colouration.

"Well shit." He mused. "I'm Hulk's cousin but with the teeth of a damn vampire." Tomko snorted. "I'm not a vampire, am I? The sun is up in the sky and I'm not being incinerated." The… man brought an arm on his kneel and tapped the other's fingers on a rock in the river. "It's strange, I have access to informations such as comics and slangs but I can't remember my past life or anything directly related to me. Could it be amnesia?"

Tomko stopped tapping his fingers on the small rock and grinned at it. "What do you say, Rocky? Should I spook any civilized human I find with my awesome appearance or should I try to be friendly and gather answers?"

Silence…

"Yeah…" He yawned. "…I should remain civilized if I want answers." He scanned the area and his gaze fell on something that made him grin… and also snap his fingers. "A radio tower. Jackpot!" Indeed, the upper side of the tower could be seen from his position, roughly five hundred meters away.

With a new objective in mind, he left the source of water behind him. But he still memorized its position.

After all a true Hunter always remembers the places he has covered out in the wild…

Tomko sneaked in the bushes and kept a low profile as the tower became more and more visible. He listened and narrowed his eyes but detected no presence inside the building. His senses were clearly stronger and sharper than those of a natural human. He only needed a few minutes to concentrate and a few more to train and he would have been the perfect killing machine. Silent but deadly and efficient.

Maybe I was that. Maybe I was an assassin or anything like that. Although with my abilities I would probably hit my target from far away…

He broke the locket on the door leading inside to reveal the interior of the room, with a rifle resting near the machinery.

with a sniper rifle. He finished his trail of thoughts and entered. He had to slightly crouch his head down. Clearly his stature wasn't intended for these types of location, he almost hit the ceiling more than one time.

Tomko searched for supplies or a radio, anything useful; but he only found the rifle inside and a combat knife.

He sighed in disappointment and snatched the weapons in his hands. He opened the magazine and firmly nodded at the bullets already in it, he dropped the other bullets and magazine scattered near in his pockets. The man opened another wooden door leading to a balcony, he got into position aimed down his sights.

Weight and handling is fine. The scope isn't holographic or anything special but it'll do its work. I just gotta find a way to clear the dust on it and this baby will prove its worth to me.

Just to be sure it would indeed be useful, he searched for a target. The sun was still high in the sky, it was the beginning of the afternoon and maybe with his enhanced vision he could spot animals rolling around the forest.

His scope landed on a deer, he smiled and held his breath, finger slightly squeezing the trigger. The target was very far away, a distance a normal human wouldn't be able to cover.

A few seconds later, two fawns ran towards what was clearly their mother. She lowered her head and licked the back of their heads.

Tomko frowned at the familiar situation of Bambi. You're a Hunter, aren't ya? Then kill your prey! It's an easy target, just laying there! He growled, showing his teeth and squeezed the trigger without hesitation.

The shot thankfully hit its target. The mother and the fawns safely escaped the dangerous predator now spread on the ground, dead. He grinned. Right on schedule! I appreciate that. His grin transformed into a scowl. Fucking bears, preying on deer families like that. He lowered his weapon and descended down the stairs. At least I got good meat to feast on! I just gotta find a hideout where to cook my hunt.

He was amazed of his own strength, he was able to the transport the animal on his back and he didn't feel fatigue setting in!

He explored the area and spotted a nearby cave. Not too shabby, I wonder how cavemen lived inside those. Guess it's a good opportunity to test that! Tomko carefully set the bear down and smirked at the height of the cave's ceiling. Luck must be kissing my sweet and beautiful ass! Big enough for me and with tons of extra space.

Next task was to gather as much wood as possible to prepare a campfire for the night and also to cook the meat. Tomko sliced it with his knife to eliminate the fat portions and anything that would cause him illness if ingested. His cuts were precise and fast at the same time.

Before igniting the fire with two rocks, he made sure that the entrance was opened and that air would flow in without issues. He didn't want to suffocate because of the smoke.

He laid back on the ground and put his rifle next to him. Tomko clutched the dog tags tightly and stared at them, especially at his name. "I found them on me." He thought aloud. "No one else was nearby. These are gotta me mine right? But if I'm not human, then what am I?"

The smell of his hunt invaded his nostrils, he started salivating. Heh, no sense in dwelling over it now. Man of belly, man of substance!

He ate lightly, munching over the meal like it was the first time in months. Maybe it was, who knew.

Tomko finished his late lunch and patted his belly. He closed his eyes and relaxed with his arms around the back of his head. He searched for a good position to lay down like in a bed.

CREACK!

His reaction time had taken two seconds. Someone had invaded his cave and he aimed his rifle at the intruder.

What he didn't expect, was the intruder to be a human kid. He had to be ten or eleven years old, dark brown eyes with black hair. He clearly had a hunter vest on him, with a rifle on his back. He looked silly with the much bigger weapon behind him.

Tomko blinked a few times and lowered the sniper rifle. They stared at each other in disbelief, with the kid having his mouth hanging open.

Tomko rubbed his neck and nervously smiled. "Uh, hi?" He waved a hand.

The kid closed his mouth and tilted his head.

Man this is awkward.
