CHAPTER THREE

Cheap Udon and A Blast From The Past

Deku and Uravity stumbled into the small diner, the only person in sight being the man behind the counter, who gave them a glance. Upon seeing their hero suits, he pointed with his thumb towards the left side of the diner and continued to drink from his mug of hot ginger tea. The duo whirled their heads and saw that Saitama was busy enjoying a bowl of fresh hot udon, the sound of his loud slurping echoing throughout the restaurant.

They marched over and stood by Saitama's side, both trying to appear intimidating. Deku had his hands gripped into fists, while Uravity had her hands on her hips. Saitama merely gave a sideways glance before returning his focus to his meal. "Didn't your parents ever teach you that staring is rude..." he stated matter-of-factly. "Also, I highly recommend you try some of this udon. It's delicious! And it was only 400 yen! An absolute bargain!" He then returned to slurping up his noodles.

Deku hesitantly replied, "Well... yes... ok... but that's besides the point. What matters is that you're the cause of the destruction of city property!"

"Yes!" Uravity joined in, "and you put innocent lives at risk. You should be thankful that no one was hurt... Are you even listening?"

Saitama was still busy slurping up a long piece of udon, holding up a finger as he tried to finish it off. After a few repeated attempts to slurp the noodle up, he sighed, grabbing the end of the noodle and placing it in his mouth. He held up a finger once more as he proceeded to chew on his food.

Deku and Uravity simultaneously rolled their eyes, fed up at Saitama's ignorance to the world around him. Either he was ignorant, or he simply could care less.

Once he swallowed, he looked at the two and said, "For the record, I never intended to destroy that building. That's just how things usually go for me. You must know what it's like for heroes. There's always bound to be some form of collateral damage with hero work."

Deku couldn't disagree with that. He was still trying to get a better grasp of his quirk, and had caused some forms of damage whenever he practiced with his power or did hero intern work outside of school.

"And also, I'd be more concerned about that portal thing in the sky if I were you..."

Suddenly, a large roar punctuated the silent street that the portal hovered above. The restaurant owner quietly made his way to the back to lock himself in the restroom. Deku and Uravity quickly ran up to the large window, as a massive beast began to emerge from the portal above. The two classmates looked at each other with dread.

Suddenly, the sound of Saitama's slurping of his udon broth became louder than the monstrous roaring outside. The duo looked at him with annoyance, watching him as he downed the last of his broth before wiping his mouth with a corner of his cape. Saitama then stood up dramatically, flinging his cape to the side, Deku and Uravity noticing how he suddenly took on a more serious onset to himself. His face now looked dark and grim.

"Guess I better get some hero work in for the day..." he muttered to himself as he stepped out of the restaurant. Deku and Uravity looked at each other with confusion and then proceeded to rush out of the building after Saitama.

Ahead of Saitama stood a massive creature unlike anything Deku and Uravity had ever seen. To call it a monster was easily an understatement. The creature had a large body that seemed to bulge with muscle underneath it's dark skin. His face almost seemed fat, giving him a look that made him seem comical and yet equally terrifying. But how Saitama approached the situation was beyond logical standards to the two young heroes.

"Hey, I remember you. You're that House of Evolution guy. Pretty sure I remember killing you... What was your name, again?..." He waited for a response, but then quickly continued as a thought suddenly occurred to him, "Wait!... it was... Bloody... no... hold on... it's on the tip of my tongue... Yes!!!" He then snapped his fingers and pointed at the creature, "Fromage Kabob!"

Deku and Uravity stood still, their mouths gaping open at the absurdity of the situation, not knowing how to approach it. Here they had an absolute monster emerge from this weird portal, and Saitama simply was trying to remember its name.

The creature then spoke, "I am Carnage Kabuto, the most powerful creature ever made by the House of Evolution. I am the next step in the evolution of mankind. But I thirst for flesh, and I'm not leaving until I get my fill."

Deku wasted no time in activating One For All, leaping over Saitama, who starred blankly at him. He delivered a swift kick with his Iron Soles at 20% power to Carnage Kabuto's muscled face. As he leapt off, he reeled in shock once he saw that his attack had no effect on the beast. In fact, the creature was smiling deliriously at Deku.

"Hmm... a fighter, eh?!?!" he screeched mockingly, "Well, it's time you know your place!" With inhuman speed, he appeared behind Deku. Deku caught a glimpse of his deranged smile before being pummeled into the asphalt by thousands of punches, his body activating One for All to protect himself from being killed.

"DEKU!!!" screamed Uravity with fear. Before the creature laid Deku, dazed and bloodied on the ground, but still alive. She propelled herself forward with rage, grabbing a fallen lamppost. Using Zero G, she lifted it up and threw it like a boomerang at high speed. Tapping her fingertips together, gravity turned to the flying object as it struck Carnage Kabuto in the chest, but it bounced off of him as if it was a mere toothpick.

Turning his face towards her, he swung his fist at her. Uravity shielded her eyes, thinking her life was over, but no impact came upon her. As she uncovered her eyes, she saw Carnage Kabuto had a look of fear upon his face. She quickly turned to her right and gasped. Saitama stood calmly with his hand in the air, having blocked the monster's attack. His eyes were shaded over now, reminiscent of All Might in his hero form.

Carnage Kabuto reeled his arm back, howling like a child and holding his now crippled arm and stumbling back with fear. Saitama strolled forward and pulled Deku out from the rubble, not seeming to notice how injured he was, and dusted him off before proceeding forward.

"Are you ok, Deku?" Uravity asked, taking off her visor as concern washed over her. She grabbed him gently and looked over his injured body.

"Yeah, I'm alright," he said, as blood began to stream steadily down his face, "Nothing Recovery Girl can't fix. I'm more worried about you. Are you ok?"

Uravity blushed slightly, but answered with optimism, "Yeah, I'm ok."

Deku smiled and said, "That's good. And besides, my injuries are nothing that Recovery Girl can't fix." He cracked a small grin before wincing in pain, as some of his ribs were broken.

Uravity, worried for Deku, applied her Zero G to his clothes, allowing him to feel lighter and not as bogged down by his hero suit and equipment.

"Wait, where's Saitama?" Deku asked, concerned for the strange man.

"I think he'll be ok," said Uravity, pointing in his direction. Deku looked and his mouth dropped in awe. Ahead of him the beast was holding a crippled arm, while Saitama strode toward it without fear. Deku watched as Saitama leapt, and with one punch, the creature erupted with internal organs and blood spraying everywhere, his body disintegrated with a single hit.

Saitama stood, arm outstretched, as blood rained down from above. Smoke rose from his fist as he stared down at his hand. Turning in Deku and Uravity's direction, he was met by their absolutely dumfounded and awestruck stares, finding it unbelievable that he had killed Carnage Kabuto with one punch.

He then fell to his knees and screamed at the top of his lungs, "NOT AGAAAAAAAAIN!!! WHY?!?! WHY?!?! WHYYYYYYYYYY?!?!" He then began pounding the ground with his fist, like a whiny toddler.

Deku and Uravity shared a look of confusion with each other, aware that today was undoubtedly going to be a weird one for the two heroes-in-training.
