The Baby-Sitters belong to Ann M. Martin
I returned from a class trip in New Mexico while getting ready to go a dance recital for Jessi, who's been involved in it since she was little. She invited everyone. We went out to eat for dinner.
"I can't believe this is your last day here," said Kristy
"I know," I said.
"Ours, too," said Kayla.
"Oh, yeah," said Claudia.
"What time are you leaving tomorrow?" asked Stacey.
"Not sure. Mom hasn't told us yet," said Kaylee.
My family moved away to Maine, but since the trip was prebooked, Dad let me go. They left after I did. Carlos and Dawn didn't go. I'm Mary Anne Spier and will be the former resident of Stoneybrook. I didn't want to leave my friends or my boyfriend behind.
Then, I found out that Mrs. Willis got a job there, so they'll be going there, too. Luckily for us, she didn't plan to leave until after the trip. Dad decided to let me leave with them, too. Oh, Mr. Willis left the family after the moving news. So now, Mrs. Willis is raising her eight kids on her own, which is worse for a big family, but I always pitch in when I'm needed for one good reason: D.J., who can be a handful, but I know how to handle him and I'm firm when it comes to his bad behavior. The rest is no problem.
I packed everything and he saved me time by bringing them to Maine and I'll unpack when I get there. He got Tigger as well.
I'll be going to be in 10th grade, but I'll be attending Portland Voc-Tech High School. I landed a spot for Fashion Design. Kayla got nursing and Kaylee's going to be in office.
After dinner, Jessi's mom brought us home. At home, Kayla said, "What time do you plan to leave tomorrow?"
"Probably around eight in the morning. It takes a few hours to get there," said Mrs. Willis.
"That's true," I said.
"I told your father that we should be there by mid afternoon to early evening," said Mrs. Willis.
"Oh, yeah, there's one thing we didn't tell you," said Kayla.
"We're going to be neighbors," said Kaylee.
"Really?" I asked. We're three houses apart here.
"Yes. We'll be next door to you," said Kaylee.
"Nice," I said.
Mrs. Willis bought a bigger van to fit everyone after Mr. Willis left. It's like a bus. Kristy knew how that felt. Her father left many years ago without warning when her youngest brother, David Michael, was a baby.
"I'm nervous to be in a new place," I said.
"That's normal," said Kayla.
"It's a good thing you knew April," said Kaylee.
"I know," I said.
At nine pm, we helped to get the younger crew to get ready for bed since we need to be up by seven pm. The rest of us don't need to go to bed early. We didn't go to bed until it was ten pm. Mario, who's been in their room, moved in with M.J. for the night. He and D.J. used to share one, but he's been tough and Mario didn't want to share a room any longer. They have no problem with Mario.
We whispered in bed until we went to sleep 30 minutes later.
