Hey everyone! What's up!?

So from the Sonic franchise, from the characters I know of so far, along my top favorites has to be Tangle the Lemur and Whisperer the Wolf and a big part of that is the short comic series on the two from IDW. And Tangle is one of my favorites because I love rookie/underdog characters, and she seems to fit that description quite well, someone who's new to the game, but very energetic and wants to help.

Also, they don't seem to get that much love, at least from what I can see on here, so that's another reason why I thought of this one shot!

"No, no…" Tangle the Lemur spoke in her sleep as she tossed and turned in her bed. "Let me out…"

Tangle was currently having a nightmare, but not just any nightmare… She was having one of the time she and her friend Whisperer the Wolf were going after one of Whisperer's former friends, Mimic. While the two friends were searching for Mimic, he tricked Tangle and had her trapped in a metal safe, there Tangle's claustrophobic was triggered and she really thought it was the end for her. Luckily Whisperer got her out before the fear utterly got to the Lemur's head, but the memory was still there…

"Okay, okay Tangle…" The Lemur was telling herself in her nightmare. "The real Whisperer is coming and you will get out of this… Just try to forget you're trapped in here, enclosed with no air…" Tangle struggled to breathe as she was of course using all the air talking…

And since this was a nightmare… Whisperer didn't come as Tangle began to feel lightheaded and weak as things began to go dark as she collapsed, unable to get up. The Lemur reaching out for the door to the safe, but it seemed like it just kept getting further away than closer despite trying her best to reach it.

"Let me out!" Tangle shouted in her nightmare, but nothing happened as she felt her eyes close for the last time… "NO!" Tangle shouted in real life as she shot up from bed, panting hard and catching her breath back, looking around to confirm it was only in her head.

Tangle got up from bed, washing her face and getting a drink of water to cool her throat, looking out from her window as it was still the middle of the night. However there was no way Tangle could go back to sleep as she just laid down on her bed, unable to close her eyes, afraid that if she did, the walls of her own place would come closing in on her and she would be unable to react and escape.

Morning came, a bright and beautiful day in Tangle's hometown as Whisperer the Wolf was walking down the streets with her wisps by her side, looking froward to seeing her friend, Tangle, again for a visit. She expected the Lemur to be bouncing and racing around like she usually does, happy and energetic, so it came as a surprise when the wolf found the lemur just dozing off on a bench, unaware of Whisperer's presence.

Whisperer quietly came to her friend, taking a seat besides the lemur as Tangle still didn't know the wolf was there, that is until Whisperer started talking.

"Tangle…" Whisperer spoke softly close to the lemur's ear as Tangle was now surprised and awake, nearly jumping out from the bench, but calmed down right away as she realized she just fell asleep as she turned to see the wolf next to her.

"Oh hey Whisperer… How long were you sitting there…" Tangle asked, embarrassed to have been caught sleeping.

"I just came." Whisperer answered. "Something wrong, you look tired." Whisperer expressing genuine concern for her friend.

"You remember that time Mimic had me trapped in the safe?" Tangle asked, to which Whisperer nodded her head. "I had a nightmare about the time I was just stuck there, helpless and unable to get out…"

"You have claustrophobic." Whisperer correctly guessed as now Tangle nodded her head.

"I always had that fear ever since I was young and what happened with Mimic brought it back…" Tangle sighed.

"Tell me…" Whisperer putting a hand to Tangle's shoulder.

"Excuse me?" Tangle confused.

"What happened when you were young?" Whisperer clarifying what she wanted. "Let it out, I'll be quiet and listen."

Tangle remembered that she told the wolf something very similar when they were going after Mimic and despite how extremely painful it was to do so, Whisperer told Tangle about her past with the Diamond Cutters. So it was only fair that Tangle told her friend about her own past and how she developed her fear of being trapped in an enclosed space, unable to get out…

"It was many years ago, I was just a young girl just enjoying life in my hometown…" Tangle started.

Many Years Ago…

"Come on Jewel, pick up the pace!" A very young Tangle shouted as she swung from lamp posts and street signs, her friend, a beetle, having a hard time keeping up with the fast moving young lemur.

"Slow down Tangle!" Jewel yelled back as Tangle pretended not to hear as others quickly got out of the way, not wanting to get hit by the crazy little lemur as Tangle took a turn towards a more quiet part of town, where there was hardly anyone around.

Up ahead Tangle saw a well and planned to jump it, only as she did so, she felt a cramp, her young muscles still developing of course as she found herself falling down into the well. Luckily it wasn't that deep and Tangle managed to avoid hitting the bottom as she grabbed onto a loose stone with her tail, then gently bringing herself down the rest of the way. And there was barely any water, so Tangle's head was still above the water level, but she was stuck down there.

"Jewel, Jewel!" Tangle called as a few seconds later, the young beetle's head appeared from above.

"Tangle, there you are, I was wondering where you were." Jewel spoke with relief. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, but I can't get out." Tangle called back up.

"Hang on, I'll go get help." Jewel called down as she went, leaving the lemur there all alone.

"Okay…" Tangle tried to cheer herself up. "Don't worry, Jewel's going to come back with help and you'll be out of here…" Tangle telling herself to keep calm as the minutes passed.

Suddenly Tangle heard a noise and first thought it was Jewel, but then she noticed it started to get dark and the lemur's first thought was that it was going to rain, but it was perfectly sunny when the two friends were out… As it grew darker, Tangle realized what was happening as she quickly looked up to see someone closing the well with a thick wooden cover. Whoever it was didn't realize the lemur was down there as Tangle started to open her mouth to speak, but it was too late as the wooden covering blocked her voice.

"Hey, I'm down here! Help me!" Tangled shouted to no avail as whoever it was left, not having heard her.

Now the lemur's situation was worse, not only was she still stuck down in the well, but it was pitch black, Tangle only able to see a few inches in front of her as the real fear of being trapped hit her. Plus with the well being enclosed now, Tangle started to feel the air get a little thin, Tangle needing to save the air, but she could't stop breathing very hard and fast as she tried not to panic, but it failed…

Back to the Present…

"Jewel managed to get help as fast as she could and I was out of there in less than an hour, but it felt like a lifetime, every second felt like years, being down there, unable to see with the stone walls all around me, it was terrifying…" Tangle struggling a little as a tear escaped an eye. "To this day, I still have that fear, I don't know if I could ever get over it."

To Tangle's surprise, Whisperer gave the lemur a hug, the wolf was usually so reserved and distant, but here she was giving her friend a hug which she needed. Whisperer releasing it after a few seconds, her eyes completely open as she was smiling, Tangle a little confused until the wolf started talking.

"You're right, you may never get over it, I know the feeling, but you got out and you're stronger and braver now, you're a hero." Whisperer pointed out, which was true, Tangle was a hero after she met Sonic the Hedgehog, doing her part to protect the world she lived on.

"I think that actually helps, thanks Whisperer." Tangle smiled back as she gave out a yawn, clearly exhausted still. "Listen, I know you probably came to spend some time together, but I think I could use some sleep, you mind helping me get back to my place."

"Sure." Whisperer understanding and helping Tangle up, putting an arm under her friend's as the wolf helped the lemur get back to her place and finally get some much needed rest.

Tangle knew Whisperer was right, she may never get over her fear, but as long as doesn't let it consume and overtake her, she will continue to fight against it and do her part in defeating anyone who dares cross paths with her and her friends. And luckily Tangle had many, especially Whisperer, who was always there to help each other out like right now and when Tangle finally got to bed, she would surely have a happy dream and a goodnight's sleep.

Well hope you enjoyed this little one shot on the two friends, and I hope we get to see more from those two in the future, I highly doubt they'll be part of the movies, but whatever comes for them, I will be glad to see!

And with that, see everyone later!
