Author's Notes: The story begins at SG 3x07.
"Oh God!" Winn screamed.
J'onn, Kara, and Winn had just phased through the sidewalk, the ground, and molten rock, and were now inside an alien ship. "That was horrible. Can we do that again?" Winn asked.
"No," J'onn shut him down.
The three looked around the ship finding capsules filled with reddish fluid. "Is that a person?" Winn wondered as he saw the outline of a humanoid in one of the pods.
"There's an empty one," Kara pointed out.
"Okay, that's not creepy, not at all," Winn said anxiously.
A dark figure then emerged from a hallway. He wore an all-red suit, a black cape, and black boots. His eyes glowed red for a moment. "We're not here to hurt you," Kara said to calm him down.
"Oh, you couldn't hurt me if you tried, Kara," Mon-El said amused.
Kara immediately went over to him and gave him a hug. "Well, this is new," Mon noted as he took in her scent.
At the DEO, Mon looked around as if to reinitiate himself to the place. "Oh my God, it's Mon-El," Alex said stunned.
"I know. He's back," Kara said joyfully.
"Wait, how is he breathing?" Alex wondered.
"Alex...is it? There's a lot of things you don't know about me," Mon told her.
"Did someone cure you?" Alex asked.
"You know who really needs the cure? You...," Mon said pointing at her.
"That's some ship you got there. I've never seen anything like it," J'onn said impressed.
"Yes, well, not nearly as impressive as me," Mon said defensively.
"Who's in the other chambers?" J'onn asked.
"Oh, just...other heroes," Mon said vaguely.
"Are they dangerous?" Alex asked concernedly.
"Let's stop talking about them and focus more on what's important: I have returned," Mon said irritably.
"Why did you wake up and everyone else is asleep?" Winn questioned.
"They're not nearly as strong as me," Mon replied.
"So, who are the other passengers?" J'onn pressed.
"Why the fuck does it matter?" Mon asked annoyed.
"There's plenty of time to ask questions. Let's just give Mon-El some space," Kara said delicately.
"Kara's right. I could use some space...from all of you," Mon told them off.
"Good to see you, buddy," Winn said as he left the room.
"Welcome back," Alex said cheerfully as she exited.
"I looked forward to our debriefing," J'onn said as he exited as well.
"Enough!" Kara said escorting them out.
"Kara...stay," Mon ordered.
Kara went over to him with love-sick eyes. "I missed you."
"I did, too," Mon nodded.
"It's been tough, these last seven months," Kara said.
"Seven months? Wow...holy shit. I mean, I tried to send a message," Mon excused.
"You can tell me all about it later," Kara allowed as she gave him a kiss.
"Kara, you mean everything to me," Mon said sincerely as he kissed her back.
That night, Mon left the medical wing and took a tour of the DEO. He located the armory and started looking over the alien weaponry. "Shit...shit...and more shit," he said as he looked them over.
"Hey, you shouldn't be here," a DEO agent said grabbing his shoulder.
"Actually...I can do whatever the fuck I want," Mon corrected. He quickly neck-chopped the DEO agent to the floor. Another DEO agent attempts to apprehend him only for Mon to put him in a chokehold and take him to the floor.
Mon suddenly got punched to the face by Supergirl. Mon grimaced but remained standing. "Not now, Kara," he said dismissively and turned away from her.
"Stop!" Kara demanded and went for a punch.
Mon blocked Kara's punches and then pushed her away. "I said, 'not now'," Mon said condescendingly and walked off. Kara gave him a solid kick to the back slamming him into the wall. Kara went for another angry punch denting the wall as she missed. Mon evaded Kara's next punch and then gave her a solid uppercut. "Kara, stop," Mon warned her.
Kara glared angrily and punched Mon to the chest and then to the head a few times. Mon backed away stunned and realized he was bleeding. Enraged he went for a punch. Kara evaded the punch and kicked his legs from underneath him sending him to the floor. Kara followed him to the floor pinning him with her hand. She then used her other hand to punch at him. Mon got out of the way just as Kara punched through the floor.
Taking the fight a little more seriously, Mon grabbed Kara by the head and slammed her against the wall. She, in turn, punched him to the groin. Kara punched at Mon again getting a good hit to the head. Mon punched Kara back to the chest sending her all the way across the room to the floor. Kara quickly got back up and punched Mon out of the armory completely. She went for another punch only for Mon to evade her. Mon then punched Kara hard to the floor.
"I don't understand," Kara spat out blood.
"What's there to not understand?" Mon asked calming himself down.
"You nearly killed two agents," Kara accused.
"I didn't almost kill anyone," Mon rolled his eyes.
"This isn't you," Kara shook her head dismayed.
"No, this is my true self," Mon assured her.
"You know, I don't sleep at night. I just stare at the ceiling. When I close my eyes, I dream of you dying. I see you disappearing...in the blackness of space forever," Kara said tearfully.
"Jesus Christ," Mon shook his head dismayed.
"You're all I wanted and when I saw you on that ship, I felt like I could hope again. Like, I could touch you, and see you, and hear you, and be with you, finally," Kara confessed.
"And we still can," Mon said.
"You're different," Kara realized.
"Look, you want an apology. I'm sorry. Does that do it for you?" Mon asked condescendingly.
"Shame on me for having a human heart," Kara said in disbelief.
"Why the long face?" Mon asked her. "Look, I'll get us through anything just as long as it's us, together."
"No one at the DEO will ever trust you again or me if I join you," Kara said scornfully.
"And why should we care what some mud-people think? We're at the top of the food chain," Mon told her.
"Don't you want to be loved?" Kara asked him.
"It never seems to work out, not for me, not for you," Mon said reflectively. "So, why do you keep running headfirst into a brick wall?"
"I don't know," Kara admitted.
"Look at me, Kara. We need to cut that humanity out of you...like a cancer. And then you can finally be who you were meant to be. Pure, clean, like crystal," Mon told her.
"No," Kara shook her head.
"Look, I've assessed the situation, and I'm going to go back to my ship," Mon said, and then walked off leaving Kara dumbfounded and unsure of herself.
Mon grabbed Winn on his way out of the DEO. "What's this about?" he wondered.
"I didn't tell Kara anything. What makes you think I'm going to tell you shit?" Mon asked rhetorically.
"Good point," Winn allowed.
"Look, I'm from the future. That ship is from the future," Mon explained.
"What about the space/time continuum?" Winn asked concernedly.
"It can go fuck itself...because I'm here now," Mon said seriously. "Without me, people will get hurt. Kara will get hurt."
"Oh, wow," Winn said stunned and proceeded to follow him out.
Mon and Winn went back to the future ship...somehow. "I think it's working," Winn said amazed.
"Fuel rods are working but what about the power?" Mon muttered as he tried to understand the screen in front of him.
"Are you sure this is safe?" Winn asked anxiously.
"Is there something you want to get off your chest, Winn?" Mon glared.
"Sorry?" Winn wondered.
"You think you know better than me? I don't know. Maybe you think you should be at the controls, and I should be where you are now," Mon said irritably.
"No, nothing like that. I'm sorry," Winn said apologetically. "I was just being stupid. You got this."
"Winn...you're embarrassing, yourself," Mon said seriously. "Lighten up," he said jokingly.
"Oh," Winn said calming himself down.
"Just make yourself useful and restart...that circuit...over there," Mon said irritably.
Supergirl then appeared...somehow. "Winn, are you okay?"
"He's fine," Mon rolled his eyes. "I just took him with me as a little insurance."
"You kidnapped him," Kara accused.
"He didn't kidnap me," Winn lied to be on Mon's good side. "We only have your interests at heart."
"Her interests?" Mon asked dismayed giving Winn a dangerous look.
"So, which of you, two, are deciding what's in my best interests?" Kara asked offended.
"Here we go," Mon realized.
"I'm taking you both back to the DEO," Kara said assertively.
"Let's try to talk this out like mature adults, okay?" Mon said delicately with all the sensitive equipment around them.
"How could you have changed so much? It's only been seven months?" Kara asked incredulously.
"No... it's been, like, seven years," Mon said wide-eyed. "I've been living on Earth in the 31st century for the last seven years and, in that time, I've become a lot stronger, a lot faster."
"It would explain why he's no longer allergic to lead anymore," Winn chimed in.
"Excellent observation," Mon said condescendingly.
"So, you just forgot about me?" Kara assumed.
"Self-absorbed much? Time travel isn't cheap," Mon pointed out.
The alarm bells went off in the ship. "What does that mean?" Winn asked alarmed.
"It means the chambers have lost power, apparently," Mon said unconcernedly.
"Does that mean they'll wake up?" Winn asked.
"More like an excruciating death," Mon corrected. "It appears power has been rerouted to every chamber except...,"
"What's wrong?" Winn asked as he noticed someone struggling inside a chamber.
"Drowning from the looks of it," Mon said coldly.
Kara immediately went over to the chamber and gave it a good punch without result. "That's white dwarf glass," Mon explained. Kara continued to punch at the glass without result.
"We have to get help," she said anxiously.
"Help is already here," Mon said obviously and then punched through the glass shattering it.
A blond-haired young man nearly fell out of the chamber. Mon went over and gently carried the man in his arms to the floor, put his face close to the young man's mouth, and listened to hear if he was breathing. "He's breathing," Mon said relieved.
Kara gave Mon an odd look as he cradled the young man in his arms with gentle concern.
At the DEO, the young blond man was placed on a medical bed. "Any updates?" Mon asked impatiently.
"He's stable for now," Alex reported.
"We're still doing a genetic make-up so we can treat him properly," Winn said. "Anything you can tell us to help?"
"He's a Winathian," Mon said vaguely.
"Who is he?" Kara asked now in civilian clothes.
"His name is Garth," Mon replied. "You'll let me know if his condition changes," he ordered Winn and walked off.
Kara followed Mon to the balcony. "I never thought I would see you again," Kara said reflectively.
"No matter what century or universe I happen to be in, I always remembered you," Mon said sincerely and then sighed. "I mean...I remember when you ate all those ribs once. You were just inhaling them but...you never got fat."
Kara was shocked and appalled but then Garth interrupted them. "Sir."
"Are you alright? I thought I lost you back there when your life support failed," Mon figured.
"I can jump-start my own heart," Garth said as static electricity buzzed off his finger.
"You put that away," Mon smiled jokingly and then gave Garth a bro-hug.
"Who's the hottie?" Garth asked of Kara.
"This is Kara Danvers, Supergirl," Mon introduced.
"An honor to meet you," Garth said giving her a mock bow.
"This is Garth Razz, also known as Lightning Ladd, a good colleague of mine," Mon introduced.
"Is that...all?" Kara wondered.
