Bubble Girl, also known as Kaoruko Awata to her friends, was a blue skinned, blue eyed and blue haired woman, known for being a former sidekick of Nighteye, then unofficially a very close sidekick to Ryukyu when she transferred for unknown reasons.

And now, her main job was full time homeroom teacher for class 1-A at U.A. High, after the removal of their previous teacher due to too many issues coming from how he ran his class. It had taken some time but the bubble-making heroine could honestly say she thought she had adjusted to the school very well.

For the most part, felt she'd mostly gotten used to the many little quirks of U.A. that you could only become acquainted with time, from always making sure to give the Support Course door a wide berth in case of imminent explosions, ducking whenever Yagi began talking or was shocked to avoid being sprayed with blood and even mostly managing to avoid jumping when Nezu randomly decided to talk over the intercoms when he eavesdropped on the school.

Despite the many mini heart attacks the school could give her and had given her in her first year as a teacher here, not even accounting for all the bigger scale issues she absolutely needed to put them through the ringer for someday, there was one thing that actually gave her genuine worry and left a gnawing pit in her stomach she hadn't had to deal with before now.

The distress alarm for her classes dormitory. It was a simple system, done with old school engineering rather than anything electrical, after the issues of the USJ Incident. If the dormitory sustained too much damage , it would automatically set off an alarm in three different places.

The first was the Principal's computer, so that the chimera himself could call in all forces even tangentially useful against whatever threat appeared. The second place was the phone of one Vlad King, homeroom teacher of 1-B, so that he could be ready for any spill over into his own dorms right next door.

And finally, of course, was her own phone, that the second it began giving that ear-splitting tone like a megaphone receiving feedback, playing over and over again, she had immediately pressed the button on her screen that confirmed she was on her way and they would not need to send an emergency crew immediately. She would have to update it multiple times until the alarm was over, the second she was deemed 'incapictated' if she didn't call for backup, the rest of the staff would come down like bats out of hell as immediately as possible.

When she stood up after giving the first of many updates on the situation to the live feed, it was fast enough to send her chair to the ground.

She didn't stop to pick it up as she shoulder-barged the door open and booked it to where her students were meant to be sleeping peacefully, at this godforsaken hour of one in the morning that she had only been awake for herself to finish up making a personal lesson plan for Ashido and Kaminari to account for their potential ADHD she had suspicions they might have.

She was ready for a lot of things when she kicked the front door open, maybe a little on edge from how many times she knew her class had been attacked long before she could even come to protect them.

She was ready for the entire League of Villains to be standing in the common area. She was ready to fight them all one on one if need be if they so much as looked at one of her students wrong.

She was ready for a potential parent going rogue trying to get in to see their kid for some reason. She was even ready for the potential of her students having ended up in some kind of a fight, though she hoped not, or more positively just for once being dumb teenagers who didn't think through a quirk training idea.

(Plus ultra or not, the fact anyone said it was a good idea for Kaminari to be hooked up to a car battery and electrocute himself constantly was insane and if anyone ever suggested it again they would not be leaving her presence without a red hand shaped slap mark on their face.)

Admittedly, on her extensive list of situations to be prepared for, finding the room almost entirely empty, dark and untouched aside from the massive cracks all along the floor and somewhat up the walls, with Izuku Midoriya, green haired sweetheart of her class, sobbing in the middle of it all was not one of those situations she was prepared for.

With a soft gasp and a sense of relief that there were no villains present, smothered entirely by more concern over her student looking so hurt, she took a couple of steps forward as she spoke.

"Midoriya, it's me." She said, feeling a light frown make its way onto her face as her students entire body seemed to freeze in concern. "It's okay, I'm here."

"B-Bubble Girl!" He gasped and a very slight wince wracked her body as she bit her lip. It had been a while since he called her by her hero name. She had managed to convince most of her class to call her Awata by now, believing after their last 'strict' teacher (not that Aizawa's methods deserved something so underwhelming as the word strict to describe them) that they deserved a teacher they could mouth off to if they really needed to.

Izuku had been one of the first to switch to calling her Awata, due to their previous interactions at Nighteye's agency, and he only ever called her Bubble Girl when he thought he was in trouble.

And right on cue.

"P-Please d-don't be mad! I d-didn't-" A sniffle broke through him as he tried to push himself up and she felt something like bile in her throat at the sight of Izuku crying. Not that it was an uncommon sight, necessarily, the boy was emotional and often she found it endearing if a bit overwhelming, yet those were always happy tears. These were not happy tears. "I d-didn't mean to break anything. It w-was an accident, I swear. I'll t-take a d-detention or-"

"Hey, hey now." She uttered softly, coming to his side and sitting down beside him. He stiffened, so she didn't come closer than sitting beside him as she gave him a gentle look. "You're not in trouble. I'm not Aizawa remember, I'm here to help you, not punish you."

"B-But…" He hesitated, looking at all the cracks on the floor and wincing as he ducked his head and a light tremor seemed to hit his body. "I b-broke the floor…"

"Yes, you did." She nodded, then gave a softer smile as she reached out slowly and when he didn't flinch away, gently patted his shoulder. Then, in a voice that Izuku knew was meant to be an impression of All Might, but really sounded more like an American southerner with no grasp on the Japanese language in need of a lozenge. "Ceiling team wins."

Izuku blinked, then blinked again at the utterly random reference to hero training before a sputtered giggle escaped him, making her let out a small giggle of her own, happy to see a more positive response from him.

"In all seriousness though." She spoke after a moment, giving a gentle look and making sure to keep her body relaxed so he didn't feel threatened by her posture. "Can I ask why you broke the floor? I know that it was an accident, I just want to know how it happened."

"It… It's s-stupid… it w-was really dumb of me…" He tried to deflect, ducking his head again only for her to gently lift his head.

"Hey, no, it very likely wasn't." She said, a tad sternly but still giving him a soft smile. "You're one of the smartest people I know, even before you were my student, so if it happened to you it probably wasn't. What a lot of people write off as stupid is actually very important anyways, and there is no such thing as an invalid reason to feel bad, sad or afraid, just bad ways to respond to them."

Izuku bit his lip, scratching his wrist lightly before nodding with a light sigh and looking up at her. "I… I f-fell asleep on the couch because I wanted to catch a rerun of a news report on a new hero, and I fell asleep after it ended by accident… I… I had a n-nightmare?"

His voice cracked a little and Kaoruko let out a soft breath before sighing and putting her hands around him, gently encircling him and when he didn't respond negatively gently pulled him into a hug.

"Izuku, it's okay to have nightmares." She soothed softly as she kept a light grasp in case he decided he wanted to end the hug.

"It w-was about the USJ though, t-that was ages ago." He tried to argue, clearly still beating himself up over it and she hummed, before shaking her head.

"It doesn't matter if it had been decades ago, we have nightmares about things like that because they stick with us, and the USJ is more than okay for you or anyone in your class to develop nightmares over. Several of your classmates were given a chance to talk to Hound Dog at the time, I'm aware. I hope you know that wasn't a one time offer and that you can go anytime night terrors give you trouble."

Judging by the slight flush on his face, it seemed he didn't realize that, making her sigh fondly. Then she continued, deciding if she could trust anyone with this knowledge and if anyone needed to hear it, it was him.

"I have nightmares too, you know." She told him, making him blink in surprise, turning to her shock and she hummed gently, as she thought about how much to say. "You… saw the thing Nighteye subjected me to when you came for your internship. Some nights, especially when I don't think I've worked hard enough, I sometimes have nightmares about being back in it. Compared to yours…"

"A-Ah, but that… That's not silly! It m-made you super uncomfortable and if you didn't feel s-safe-" He froze, and Bubble Girl smiled a little at seeing him realize the point he was making could apply to himself. He was getting better at that.

"Yes, and that's why it's okay. For both of us." She assured, before humming as she looked away for a moment, inspecting the room for any more important damage while she spoke. "Do you want to talk about your nightmare?"

Izuku bit his lip, then shook his head. "Not r-really, at the moment…"

"Then we won't. If you change your mind, you can always find me or talk to Hound Dog." She told him gently as she sat there, before lapsing into a comfortable silence. Izuku, she had a feeling, might have been a little confused why she didn't instantly send him to bed now that she was done checking up on him.

Of course, she had no intention of leaving him alone until he was ready to be left alone, even if she had to stay here with him for a while comforting him. She thought that moment would probably come in silence, or with him asking to be let go.

She wasn't expecting the comforting presence to fully seep into Izuku, or for a soft question to escape him.

"…Do you think I'd be a better hero if I had a different quirk?"

It was soft. Somewhat sad sounding and another emotion she couldn't quite place, as if the question had more to it than she could see. Well to some degree, she knew it did, as another soft sight escaped her.

Unlike her predecessor, after all, she actually bothered to read up on her students, so she knew the truth Izuku often tried to hide. That he was once quirkless, and that he was a late bloomer.

She would never tell him she knew, not until he was ready, but she could certainly help him realize now, that he would be safe to do so if that day ever came as she gave her answer.

"I don't think it would make a difference, to be honest." She said and he blinked at her, tilting his head slightly, making her smile a soft, knowing smile at him.

"Sure, superficially how you'd be a hero might change in terms of your style, your approaches and how you think of certain problems but you're a hero for your actions and your heart, and your drive to do what's right, Midoriya." With a soft squeeze of his arm, gently yet encouraging, she finished up with something she figured he had probably needed to hear for a while. "If I was here from the start, and you walked in without even having a quirk, I would still consider you the exact same hero I do now, because no amount of super strength, speed or abilities would ever be able to compare to you being you."

In fairness this time, when a soft sob escaped Izuku, she had only herself to blame for getting him emotional. "T-Thank… Thank you…"

She just nodded gently.

"Would…. Would you have f-fought for me though?" It was such a gentle question, with such slight optimism and hope and she knew what he meant. After all, just because she said he could have done it, didn't instantly confirm she'd have supported it fully. She was proud of him being discerning, and all the more saddened that he felt the need for that kind of caution so soon in life at all.

So, she gave him her simple, honest answer.

"I promise I'd fight for you just like I'd fight for any of my students."

A soft breath of relief escaped him and a little more light and life danced in his eyes, making her smile gently. Nothing beats seeing her students to make her day (or in this case night) become better.

Then, with a soft chuckle he gave his reply. "I don't think you can beat up a nightmare though."

"If they don't leave you alone, I'm going to find a way, reality be damned." She said with a huff and a determined tone, only betraying her jibe with a light grin. It's not like she knew a way to turn his nightmares into a person to beat up for hurting him.

…If she did though, then she might consider it. No need to tell him that though now that he was finally coming back to himself.

"You're… really good a-at making me feel safe Awata." Izuku said softly, falling back into the casual name that made her smile every time one of her students, her kids, used it. A soft yawn escaped him before he continued, his eyes starting to droop as the sleep he was pulled from began catching back up with him. (That or the whole situation had left him exhausted.) "You d-didn't need to come for m-me, but… t-thank you…"

His eyes slowly slipped close, and a moment a soft snore escaped him, making her sigh with mild fond amusement, doing her best to lay him back down on the couch and thinking about where she could get a pillow and a proper cover for him, so he'd be more comfortable.

And while she did, she gave one last soft smile to him as she quietly responded to his last statement.

"You're one of my kids, Midoriya. There's nowhere I'd rather be than helping you."
