Amidst busy deadlines, Luka and Marinette were finally able to spend a day alone. Marinette shoehorned the idea of having a nice picnic by the gardens, and Luka adored the plan. He was eager to eat sandwiches and sweets made by Marinette.
They found a lovely empty picnic table by the flowers, and Marinette placed the picnic basket down. Luka sat down with his guitar by his side. But as Marinette was about to open the basket, a small butterfly landed on her hand. Its wings moved slowly, and Marinette felt the need to stay still for a moment.
"It's so adorable," Marinette cried softly.
Luka agreed. He watched the butterfly for a moment on Marinette's hand and then saw as it flew up into the blue sky.
Marinette was in awe, and Luka took a moment to kiss the hand touched by the butterfly.
"Even the butterfly thinks you're a beautiful melody," Luka said.
Marinette smirked and went back to the picnic basket, but Luka noticed a few more butterflies fluttering in the air.
"Wait," Luka said.
Marinette paused as Luka grabbed his guitar and sat on top of the table. He took a second to tune and then strummed a few chords that came to mind.
Marinette sat in silence as the chords from Luka's guitar were gentle in her ears and in her heart. And then Marinette's mouth went agape as butterflies started flying around Luka.
They flew around frantically, and then Luka made a slower tempo which caused some of the butterflies to slow down and rest on top of his guitar. Luka took extra care to be gentle.
Marinette quietly climbed on top of the table even if she wore a sundress and sun hat to sit next to Luka and his butterfly audience. She watched as the resting butterfly flapped their wings on the tip of Luka's guitar as he continued to play softly.
Marinette held out her finger, and one of the butterflies on his guitar flew on her finger. The young woman felt accomplished since she was primarily clumsy. But Luka always kept her more grounded.
Luka strummed the last few chords as the butterflies started launching up back into the blue sky. The butterfly resting on her finger flew up as well. It's as if the butterflies charged up their energy with Luka's beautiful music.
When Luka finished playing, Marinette placed her hand on his.
"That was so beautiful," Marinette said.
Luka said nothing and reached his finger to catch a butterfly on top of Marinette's sunhat.
Marinette gasped in delight that a gentle creature would be comfortable to use her sunhat as a seat. And the butterfly rested on Luka's finger with some much trust.
The butterfly then flew away straight to the garden.
"They are beautiful creatures. Silent voices that play along with my melody," Luka said.
