"Here is my first ever WIR Fanfic… Hope you enjoy it!"
She ran up into his arms clutching his shoulder and began to softly cry. He encased her small trembling figure in his enormous hands. She began to slowly but surely calm down. He asked what was wrong, but she didn't respond, she only sniffled and clutched his shoulder more. He continued to hold her close, his hands clinging and caressing her tiny figure as gently as he could without crushing her. She felt safe in Ralph's hands. His hands were the warmest and most comfortable things she had ever felt in her life. The warmth and comfort of them made her feel like she was safe and protected... That no one could ever hurt her or make her feel alone again. Unlike before, when she only had her torn and patched candy wrappers to cling to after a bad dream or a hard day running from Taffyta and her gang. Her Doll and Gummy Bear were other sources of comfort, but being inanimate objects they could only do so much. Ralphs's hands were the only things she had found solace in wherever she needed comfort from recurring nightmares or when a harsh memory came back to haunt her.
He had mentioned how much he hated his hands in the past and even nowadays from time to time. Even if he had already accepted that this is who he was, there was still a part of him that wished he didn't accidentally knock something over or let his temper get the best of him. If only he could see what she saw in them... Not as means of only destruction, but also of comfort and creation. Because that's all they've ever truly given to her. A new cart, her own personal track, a means of salvation for her and her game, and a warm loving embrace. She remembered the time she hugged him goodbye after saving the arcade... It was her first hug in 15 years, and his first one in 30 years. She remembered how she ran up to his shoulder, jumping up to clutch it tightly, and the wave of warmth and care she felt when he returned it. "I Love You, Stinkbrain..." She wanted to say, but she was worried it would sound too sappy, so she instead insisted that he come live with her in her castle. She wanted him to be as happy as her, not wanting him to return to his smelly, lonely, and boring dump to be hated and rejected again. He declined to say that he was already happy having "The coolest friend in the world" in his life now. She blushed after hearing him say that, no one had ever thought SHE was cool, much less a friend. They had come a long way since they first met, but now they had each other... because of that, their lives were now better.
She sighed and stroked his shoulder gently, her tears were now dry, and a smile started to slowly appear on her face. She sniffed and wiped her eyes with her sleeve as she began to sit up in Ralph's giant cupped hands looking down at her own. "Kid... What happened? Are you Ok? Are you hurt?" Ralph asked gently Vanellope looked up at him smiling with tear-stained cheeks. "I-I'm Ok, Ralph... I...I just needed a hug."
