The Gypsy Caravan Part 3

Over where the carnival was camped, Conan found his paternal cousin, Aida right where he expected to find her, at the healer's tent helping to mix the different medicines.

"Well we've got at least one good friend around here." Conan said, sitting down in a nearby chair.

"Oh, who's that?" Aida asked as she measured out a spoonful of herbs to go into the concoction she was working on.

"A girl named Jane." Conan replied. "the first girl in the history of this kingdom to train as a knight, not only that, she's very noble of heart, but as of right now, is the only one around here who believes we didn't steal anything."

"Well, she sounds like a very interesting person," Aida said. "I should very much like to meet her sometime."

"You will," Conan said to Aida. "trust me, you will."

Back at Kippernia castle the next morning, Jane was in the yard practicing with the dummy.

When Sir Theodore entered the yard from his bedchamber.

"I'm not sure it's wise having these roma here at the castle." Sir Theodore said to Jane firmly.

"Whatever do you mean, Sir Theodore?" Jane asked.

"Well, roma do have a certain reputation." Sir Theodore said to Jane.

"They are simply performers, no different than Jester, we shouldn't judge people simply on stereotypes." Jane said to her mentor.

"You are correct, of course, Jane." Sir Theodore said.

In the throne room of Kippernia castle, Conan's aunt as well as Aida's mother was speaking to King Caradoc about something intensely serious.

Renee bowed to king Caradoc.

"Your majesty, there are people in this land who hate romani," Renee said. "my brother, Carlo and his wife Esme were killed by such people."

King Caradoc shook his head in disbelief, "I'm so sorry for your loss." he said.

"Thank you sire," Renee said. "my people and I are simply seeking a place to continue our carnival in peace."

"Please stay here," King Caradoc said. "you will be safe if my kingdom."

That was when Jane entered the throne room from practicing in the yard.
