Sins of War

Chapter 1: Himiko

1 Month Before the birth of Juno Ryuzaki

Captain Unohana looks through the viewing glass as Captain Yamato comes to join her. They watch as Himiko sleeps; she looks pale and wasting away, monitors and kido spells lining the room. She's strapped down with powerful kudos, while the bump at her stomach stands out.

"How is the baby?" The older Captain rests his hands on his cane as he looks over the room. Himiko's hands twitch, going from soft hands to claws quickly. His eyes widened for a bit before looking at Unohana.

"As healthy as can be, considering what it's doing." Unohana waves her hand over the window and stats come up, it shows the outline of the baby. The bundle shows streams of reishi swirling around Himiko and going into the bundle.

"Whatever voice this child hears in life, it will need to be watched over closely." Unohana zooms in and they can see the small baby sleeping peacefully. The reishi swirls around the baby, seeming to wrap it in a blanket.

"We will need to take a vote, you understand what must happen, correct?" Unohana's words are cold as she turns away from the window to look at the Head Captain.

The Head Captain moves away from the window. Unohana wipes the window and follows. Healers in the squad scurry around while moving swiftly out of 4 and the long walk up to Squad 1. No one speaks, the shuffle of steps and tap of his cane the only thing to keep any type of pace.

"Kaito Ryuzaki should be allowed to see his wife, Central 46 hasn't given a ruling." Unohana's words hang as the Head Captain comes to stand before the doors. Turning slightly, he doesn't look at her but just off to where the barracks of his squad lay.

"They have, Kaito Ryuzaki will be sentenced to death in Hueco Mundo. Stripped of his Zanpaktou and implanted with a limiter. His crimes against the Soul Society will not go unpunished." Yamamoto's voice is strong as he moves toward the door and it opens up for him. Unohana stands watching him.

"What will happen to Himiko?" Asks Unohana turning away from him.

"Himiko, will die either in childbirth or killed shortly after. As for the baby...Central 46 is waiting to see."

Lord Kaito watches as Juno walks the halls of the keep. She runs a hand along a statue, a woman draped in marbled cloth. It's arms are extended up, palms up in praise. Juno pauses as she looks up at it and Kaito's vision blurs. Standing before him he watches as Himiko stands in Juno's place, hair long and smiling wide.

Her voice echoes in the back of his mind and he lets it take over.

"Himiko?" Juno looks to him, snapping his vision back to the present. She turns to face him, she's a bit tanner from her stay here. Her eyes seem a bit brighter, she stands taller with Kiseichu strapped to her hip.

"Lord Kaito?" She moves to come closer, fog seeping from Kiseichu as she approaches the man. She looks down to her blade, smiling gently before looking at him again.

"You look so much like her, you took more of her features then mine." He says as he reaches out to brush fingers along her cheek. Juno doesn't move, keeps perfectly still as Kiseichu rumbles along their inner world.

"They wouldn't let me see you, wouldn't let me near her the whole pregnancy. Banished me away before I could help her properly." Pulling his hand away, he pushed past her and down the hall to the statue. He reaches out and lays a hand along her foot.

"Why?" She asks as she comes back to stand with him. Just off to their left, the last Tengu stands. It's wings rise up and then flutter out.

"The Hallow had some kind of poison, infected her. I didn't know she was pregnant with you until we had our checkups. She became violent and disobedient. But I knew I could fix her, and could stop it all." His fingers grip the statue tight, cracking under it. The Tengu makes a chattering noise.

"They all didn't approve of my methods and locked me away. Tossed me away to let Hueco Mundo kill me off. Oh how it's backfired on them." Kaito pulls away from the statue and turns to Juno, his eyes blaze red and his body smolders.

"We will make them pay my daughter, fear not, for we are in the right." Juno shivers as he turns to the Tengu and both walk down the stairs. Juno looks up to the statue again and notices that etched into the marble, the figure looks to be crying.

Laying a hand on her Zanpaktou, she listens as Kiseichu chuckles and coos in happiness. His energy is like wildfire, it burns just under her skin, it causes her to relish in it. Closing her eyes, she stands with Kiseichu, he twirls around and the fog builds. He hums as she comes in closer to her and she opens her eyes to look on the keep.
