If You Fall
Izuku panted hard as he came to an awkward stop, red shoes skidding on the pavement as he quickly planted his feet, letting the energy inside him fizzle out for a moment.
Exhausted, he put hands on his knees and doubled over, recovering from the mad dash back to his current location.
Taking in a long breath he straightened, looking up towards the dizzying cliff edge before him and the unobtrusive stone stronghold perched atop the precipice.
The isolated fortress straddled the rock precariously, looking like it would slide down the steep hill at any moment. Izuku began to brush off the effects of his run, furiously shaking himself to regain focus. He had to rejoin the battle quickly. Who knows what could have happened to his friends—to Ochako, to Todoroki, to the pro-heroes—in the twenty minutes since one of the target villains had force-teleported him halfway across the city, stranding him in the middle of downtown unable to help.
Steeling himself, Izuku summoned the power within.
One For All... Full Cowling! he thought.
His quick sparked to life all around his body, sizzling green in readiness.
Time slowed down and his analytical mind took quick stock of what he could see from his limited position.
Ice froze out several of the windows on the second story, Todoroki's doing no doubt. At the very top of the building seemed to be where most of the action was; Izuku could see flashes and pops of light, shadows that floated and dropped in intervals and seemed to indicate that Ochako was on the roof, battling for her life.
Concern morphed into determination which fed into the energy crackling inside him. Izuku crouched down and calculated his quickest path up the cliffside onto the roof.
Then, with a slight push of his heel, he launched.
His Quirk flamed up, sending power into his legs, letting him launch off the pavement with inhuman speed and height.
Izuku bounced off a parked car on the road, barely leaving a dent, pushed off a ledge to the left side, immediately pinballed course right.
Several times he swerved, pushing off a foothold on the steep cliff wall, slowly parkouring up and up, getting closer and closer to the stronghold itself.
It became harder when he reached the fortress. His foot slipped on some of Todoroki's ice; for a terrifying few seconds he wasn't sure he could make the next pushoff point. But with a stern screw of his features and digging his hand into the wall for extra grip, he managed not to lose his momentum or footing, ascending higher and higher up the building.
As he got closer to the top he could hear the sounds of the fight more clearly. A pounding earthen bellow echoed through the building, vibrating through Izuku's feet; a fearful feminine yell followed, and the wall he was ascending cracked ominously.
Izuku worried about that for a split second, but there was no time to slow down, no time to stop moving. His right foot pushed off a windowsill on the fourth floor of the complex, he changed direction and propelled himself towards a balcony on his left.
A massive blast rocked the building. The cracks widened and split, tearing rock and wall apart. Izuku gasped, fumbling a little on his next pushoff, his foot reaching for a ledge that seemed about to shatter.
As soon as the soles of his shoes touched it, it did, crumbling into dust, halting his upward progress and letting him hang, horribly, in the air a moment before gravity caught hold of him. The whole wall was gone, every window and brick obliterated by the unknown blast. He looked up and a pink figure was falling towards him.
Izuku felt a gasp catch in his throat. His eyes frantically darted, his mind trying to think a way out.
Black Whip lashed out instinctively with an outstretched hand; Izuku wasn't even fully aware of his reaction, just reaching for the closest thing he could.
The dark energy tendril managed to grab hold of something, managed to slow him enough that he could calculate Ochako's rate of descent to intercept her, push off some of the falling debris with his feet to reach her, arm straining, the tension aching in his shoulder.
Her body hit with a hefty thump! Izuku grunted and then felt his arm yank short on the trailing Black Whip line, pulling the girl in and cradling her close to his body.
She stirred with a soft groan—whatever blow she'd taken hadn't stunned her long—and blinked up with confused eyes that widened as they took in their predicament in a matter of quick crucial seconds.
"He's going to collapse the whole stronghold!" she cried, angling herself so she was clutching him more securely, even as his hands slid down his Black Whip line, still falling. "We have to stop him!"
Izuku nodded. The others were probably still inside the building, or on the roof, fighting for their lives against the vibration-powered villain they had been called upon to defeat.
Collapsing the fortress would send untold debris down into the narrow mountain road that lay below them, a road Izuku knew was still heavy with traffic from the late-night rush hour, from salarymen scurrying home to dinner and teenagers rushing away from raucous senior parties.
Izuku firmed his lips and eyes, clutching tighter to Ochako. "We will," he promised, finding a stray falling rock to launch them off of, send them rocketing towards the crumbling rooftop and into the center of the action, landing them behind the massive still-enraged villain, opposite Todoroki and the other pros, boxing the villain in as he made his final stand.

When all was said and done—the villain captured and collected and Izuku plied to be the spokesman who gave the statement to the police—Izuku could only breathe out wearily and say that he was thankful that no one had gotten hurt.
