Chapter 1: The Thief And The Princess
One day, the Wiggles were out for a stroll in the park of their hometown of WiggleTown. The group's members consisted of five individuals who each sported a long-sleeved lightweight polo shirts that were each in a different color and plastered with their logo on the left chest area, black pants, and black shoes. The names of the group were as follows: Jimmy Wiggle, who wore green, Greg Wiggle, who wore yellow, Murray Wiggle, who wore red, Jeff Wiggle, who wore purple, and Anthony Wiggle, who wore blue.
"What a beautiful day to be out for a walk in the park, eh, boys?" Jimmy asked.
"You said it, Jim." replied Greg. "The sun in my face, the wind gently blowing through my hair, the crisp fresh air, pretty much everything about the day seems just right."
But the peaceful atmosphere was shattered when the boys heard a piercing scream.
"What was that?!" gasped Murray as he covered his ears.
At that moment, a suspicious-looking scruffy-faced man with shoulder-length black hair and wearing a black t-shirt under a tan jacket, faded blue jeans, worn black sneakers, and a red beanie on his head darted past them at such a speed that he almost knocked them over as he ran past them. He was carrying a white Louis Vuitton Coussin PM handbag. Before the Wiggles had time to discuss what they had just witnessed, a second person ran up to them. This time, it was a girl who appeared to be in her late teens with long light brown hair, dark brown eyes, and dressed in a white long-sleeved polo neck shirt under a pink sweater vest, red jeans, and pink slip-on shoes. She appeared to be in distress.
"Are you alright, miss?" asked Jeff. "What happened?"
"Stop that man!" the girl shouted as she pointed in the direction the man was running. "He stole my purse!"
The guys looked in the direction the girl was pointing. They could still see the thief sprinting his way through the park. Right away, they knew that something had to be done.
"Murray, you, Jeff, and Anthony stay here with her." Jimmy commanded. "Greg, come with me. We're going after the perp!"
"Right." the other Wiggles chorused.
With that, Jimmy and Greg raced to where the Wiggles' main mode of transportation, a relatively small car dubbed the "Big Red Car", was parked. It was built to loosely resemble a Sixties-era Ford Galaxie 500 convertible and was obviously painted red and decorated with its title and the Wiggles logo. There were five seats in the vehicle that were each a different color: a light green seat for Jimmy that was behind the vehicle's steering wheel, a light yellow seat for Greg next to the green one, and a second row of seats behind those two, with a light red seat on the driver's side for Murray, a light purple seat on the front passenger's side for Jeff, and a light blue seat in the middle for Anthony. Despite its size, it was still big enough to fit all five of the Wiggles inside easily, although at this time, just Jimmy and Greg were in the car. As the two climbed into their respective seats and put their seat belts on, Greg took out his cell phone and called the police while Jimmy started the car's engine. While that was going on, they noticed the thief jump into a red 2013 Volkswagen Beetle with the logo for a restaurant called "Simon's Drive-In" on the doors and trunk hatch and quickly speed away. Jimmy and Greg exhanged a glance of shock.
"That's Simon's car!" Jimmy gasped.
Jimmy then looked across the street to the local bakery. He could see the owner of the restaurant whose logo was plastered into the Beetle, a friend of the Wiggles named Simon, who was a husky man dressed in a red t-shirt, jeans, and a white apron with the same logo inside. Jimmy honked the Big Red Car's horn to get Simon's attention, then pointed to the Beetle. It obviously worked, because Simon immediately told whoever he was talking to at the bakery counter to excuse him, then went outside the building, and once he saw the purse thief getting away in his car, he immediately ran over to the Big Red Car and jumped into the red seat.
"Thanks for the warning, Jim!" said Simon. "I was picking up an order of burger buns when you honked!"
"Figured that's what you were doing." said Jimmy as he shifted gears.
Once Simon was buckled in, Jimmy floored the gas pedal and they were immediately off. During all this, Greg was giving the dispatcher on the other end of the line a description of the Big Red Car and the other vehicle it was pursuing. It wasn't long before the Beetle turned onto a different street.
"He's turning into Main Street!" Greg relayed to the dispatcher.
"I've got an officer en route to your location." the dispatcher told him. "Shouldn't be too far behind."
At that moment, sirens were heard, and Jimmy caught the familiar glimpse of a squad car's red and blue lights flashing in the Big Red Car's rearview mirror, so did Greg and Simon.
"Okay, we hear the sirens." said Greg. "Thank you."
Greg then hung up. The thief had noticed the arrival of the police as well, and he increased his speed. Jimmy increased his, and it wasn't long before a high-speed chase was underway through the streets of WiggleTown. Pedestrians and motorists alike were stunned as they watched these events unfold. Some even started recording it with their phones.
"Man, who would have thought we'd be involved in this kind of thing?" asked Jimmy.
Up ahead, the thief was still increasing speed in a desperate attempt to get away from the police and the two Wiggles. He was so focused on trying to escape that he didn't notice an elderly woman trying to cross the street with a bag of groceries, and the light was red. When he saw the red light, he immediately jerked the steering wheel, and soon, he came to a complete stop, just barely missing the woman, who was so startled that she dropped her groceries and fell to the ground, and the thief ended up crashing into a lamppost. Behind them, Jimmy, Greg, and Simon also saw the red light and the woman on the ground, and Jimmy had also steered to avoid hitting her, and unlike the thief, managed to pull up to the curb and parked.
"Whew!" gasped Jimmy. "That was a close one."
"It sure was." agreed Greg.
Simon just nodded as Greg got out of the car and went to help the old lady, who, fortunately, wasn't hurt. While he was doing that, one of the officers responding to Greg's call came over to see if Jimmy and Simon were alright, which they were, same with Greg. But then, Jimmy noticed the thief getting out of Simon's car, with the purse he had stolen in his clutches, and sprinting off.
"Hey, there goes that purse thief again!" said Jimmy, pointing to the thief. "We still need to stop him! Come on!"
Jimmy and Simon immediately took off after the thief after Simon threw off his apron and placed it in Jimmy's seat of the Big Red Car. By this time, Greg had finished helping the woman.
"Thank you, young man." she said with a smile. "I don't know what I would have done if you weren't there to help."
"It's alright, ma'am." Greg said humbly.
Just then, Greg noticed that the chase had been resumed, this time on foot, and, after accepting the old lady's grateful offer of a peppermint stick, he immediately joined Jimmy, Simon, and the officer in pursuit of the thief.
"You'll never catch me!" the thief taunted.
"You wanna bet?" Jimmy replied.
By this point, they were passing through the business district of WiggleTown, and as they ran past a few stores, the thief spotted a garbage can, and as he was running past it, he pushed it over, spilling its contents all over the street, in an attempt to lose his pursuers, but they simply vaulted over the spilled trash, much to the thief's chagrin.
"We've gotta cut him off somehow!" Greg determined.
"But how?" asked Simon.
Jimmy then spotted an alleyway.
"We'll take a shortcut!" he said. "Follow me!"
Jimmy led his two friends through the alleyway. The thief caught a glimpse of this over his shoulder.
"Now I've lost 'em!" he laughed.
But the thief was immediately proven wrong, because he wasn't watching where he was going, and he bumped into something and toppled to the ground like a tower of blocks. When he looked up, he noticed that the object he had bumped into was in fact Simon, who had his arms folded across his chest and was glowering at him, same with Jimmy and Greg, who both had their hands on their hips.
"You were saying?" asked Simon.
In response, the frightened thief got up and was about to take off again with the purse, but the officer caught him, then forced him against the wall of a nearby building and began placing him into handcuffs after Simon wrenched the purse from his grip.
"I was framed!" the thief protested. "I was framed!"
"Tell that to the judge." said the officer.
The officer then got on his walkie-talkie and told his partner to bring the patrol car over, which the second officer did, and once the thief was placed in the car, the two officers thanked the Wiggles and their friend and drove away to take the thief to jail.
"Good riddance." said Greg as he watched the officers take the thief away.
"Come on, let's go return this purse back to its rightful owner." Jimmy said.
Greg and Simon agreed, and the trio walked back to where their respective cars were. After bidding good-bye to Simon and returning his apron to him, Jimmy and Greg climbed back into the Big Red Car and drove off back to the park while Simon called for a tow truck. When Jimmy and Greg got to the park, they immediately went back over to their three fellow Wiggles and the girl, to whom Greg held out the purse.
"I believe this belongs to you." he said.
"Thank you!" the girl grinned as she reclaimed her bag. "You don't know how worried I was! Thank you very, very, very much!"
"Please, don't make a fuss about it." said Jimmy. "We're just five fellows being Good Samaritans."
"I know." the girl nodded. "But this purse wasn't cheap. It cost five thousand dollars, so I have every right to make a fuss over this."
The Wiggles' jaws dropped to their feet at this development.
"Five thousand?!" gasped Anthony. "Boy, you must be a rich person to be able afford that!"
"You could say that." said the girl. "I'm actually a princess. Princess Grace of the Taliton Kingdom at your service."
The Wiggles were even more surprised then ever, and immediately knelt in front of Grace in respect.
"We are honored by your presence, Your Majesty." Greg said.
Grace giggled.
"No need for the fancy stuff, guys." she said. "Just call me "Princess Grace", or better yet, just "Grace"."
"Oh." said Jimmy. "Okay then."
"Well, since you know my name, who are you guys?" Grace then asked.
"We're the Wiggles." said Jimmy. "I'm Jimmy."
"I'm Greg." said Greg.
"I'm Murray." added Murray.
"I'm Jeff." continued Jeff.
"And I'm Anthony." finished Anthony.
Now it was Grace's turn to be surprised.
"The Wiggles?" she gasped.
"Yep, that's us alright." said Murray.
Grace could hardly believe her eyes nor her ears.
"I can't believe it's really you!" she cried. "I've heard so much about you guys!"
"You have?" asked Jeff.
"Yes." Grace nodded. "All the little children in my land love your music, even my little baby niece."
"Aww, that's cute!" grinned Anthony.
"Again, thank you for your services today." said Grace. "I'll make sure my father hears of this."
"Alright." said Jimmy. "Well, we gotta get going. See you, Grace!"
Grace and the Wiggles waved at each other and parted ways, with Grace walking off and the Wiggles going back to the Big Red Car to drive home.
"Grace sure sounds like a nice girl." Jimmy thought to himself as he piloted the Big Red Car down the streets.
Of course, the Wiggles were still surprised about the identity of the girl they had helped.
"I can't believe we just met a princess!" Jimmy said out loud.
"Boy, will the Captain and the others be surprised when they hear about this." said Greg.
"Say, I wonder if we'll get to see her again?" asked Murray.
"Who knows?" shrugged Jimmy.
As the Wiggles continued on their way home, little did they know that they were in for a much bigger surprise.
