Chapter Two - First Night in a New World
The scenario before her was truly breathtaking, and she felt she could just stand there forever, however, a nudge from her companion had her moving after him, up the stairs and down an expansive hallway in order to catch up with the other two.
Soon they all reach the end of the hallway, and were ushered into a large room that she could only guess was the throne room. White stone that she would venture was probably marble made up the entirety of the room, save for the left side, where enormous glass panels let the sun light peer through. There was also a second level compose of a balcony, where she could see various people gathered and whispering, their cloths were exactly what one would expect from a medieval setting.
There is also no missing old man in robes seated on a throne wearing a crown… She thought to herself as she came to a stop between the tall, blond young man, and Naofumi.
"Hmm, so these kids are the holy heroes?" The man questioned in a rather bored tone, as he leaned slightly forward.
His eyes surveyed each and every one, stopping on Kiyoko for a moment, almost if trying to ascertain her value.
Kiyoko for her part wanted to flinch under his cold stare, but she caught herself and narrowed her eyes slightly in defiance instead. She could not afford to look meek here, not when she was still trying to figure out her place.
Something passed through his eyes, and she almost venture it had been a measure of pride or maybe approval, before his stare left her as he continued, "I am Aultcray Melromarc the XXXII, and I am King of these lands!"
There was a small pause, before Aultcray leaned back on his throne, "Now then, I suppose I should explain the reason behind your summoning…"
Kiyoko heard with rapt attention as the King explained their situation, her eyes widening and her back straightened, as she sent a few glances to her summoned companions gaining a few inquisitive side stares from them in return.
A Spear, Bow, Sword and a Shield? Isn't this the exact same plot from that light novel that I was reading before I got sent here? She considered, before dismissing the idea for the moment and returning to reality.
"… our brave knights and adventurers only barely manage to stop the first wave, and already the sand on the dragon hourglass as began to fall once more signaling the countdown for the next one. Worse yet, according to the prophecy, each wave will be more terrifying than the previous one, so with no other option and with calamity hovering above our heads, we followed the ritual and summoned you."
"All right." The tallest of her summoned companions allowed, before resting his spear against his shoulder with an easy smile, "I understand your situation now, but doesn't this all mean you are just ordering us to help?"
Hearing that, she couldn't help but to agree. It became even more condescending when one considered that they were apparently the only ones who could stop their destruction.
But then again, these are negotiations, so he is probably also trying to figure out where he stands, and going for a strong show in order to hide how desperate they are. Kiyoko reasoned
"Indeed, everything sounds all good… For you, that is." The blond who appeared to be her age continued.
The King hummed, sending a side glance to the man near him, who she figured was an advisor of sorts. The man in question clapped his hands, before smiling, " Obviously we are ready to compensate you for your efforts."
"Naturally." Aultcray picked up were the smaller man left off, "I've already made arrangements to aid you in your task, be that financially or with anything else that you might need."
"If that's the case, then I'm good." The tall blond replied.
"Agreed,"
"Me too." Naofumi nodded with a smile.
Kiyoko decided that with the negotiation concluded it was finally time for her to speak, so she raised her hand. "I have a question."
The king's eyes moved once more towards her." Speak."
She swallowed a breath, before steeling herself, though her voice still came out as mostly meek. " I already asked this to the mages or whatever they were that summoned us, but they didn't really answer me, so I'll ask now." She paused for a moment, before raising her head, "How do we get back home?"
The man's eyes narrowed in a confused frown at her question, as if he had not expected it, however whatever he was going to say was cut off.
"Kiyoko, do you actually want to leave?" Naofumi questioned, almost appalled.
"He is right, little lady! Don't you get what…" The tallest on the four begun but quickly closed his mouth as the girl shook her head with a small if sad smile.
"I understand what is happening, and believe me, there is a big part of me that feels just like you guys do." She commented, before lowering her gaze as her smile faded, "But I have other responsibilities, ones that don't involve saving another world."
All three of them still looked somewhat confused at her words, and she could understand their confusion. Being summoned to another world to be a hero would have been every otaku's dream. However, dreams were just that, dreams, and should stay where they belong, because one never considered the price he had to pay in order to make those dreams, reality.
"My parents are probably worried sick, since I disappeared out of nowhere you know…" she added looking down.
"Disappeared?" The smallest of the three asked, tilting is head, "I don't understand."
"Well that's…" she began.
"I am the King, that much is true, but I am also a father so I can understand your plight, Sword Hero." The king answered, closing his eyes for a moment. " None-the-less, the only way for you to return home is if the waves are vanquished."
There was a clang as the tip of the sword in her grasp hit the ground, as she felt all her strength leaving her body her eyes widening in fear at the information.
"What did you say?" The tallest one questioned in shock.
"That seems awfully convenient for you guys!" Naofumi interjected, with some anger in his voice.
The king sent the Shield Hero a glance before returning his attention to the center, "Be that as it may, the moment they you were summoned you became bound to this world, at least until this world is safe. One could reason that when the moment comes when you are no longer needed, you should be able to return home."
"Wait?! You aren't even sure?!" The smaller blond cried out, "You guys summoned us here, so obviously you should have a way to send us back no?!"
The adviser waved his hands in the air, "Wait honorable heroes! You are misunderstanding something!" He interjected quickly, "The ritual used is ancient, so much so that we hardly understand it ourselves, but what we do know is that it isn't a summoning ritual, not truly, rather it's a call. A call for the holy weapons to summon their chosen wielders."
"… and chosen you they have." The king finished.
No way… Kiyoko despaired as the reality of her situation asserted itself. Trapped with no way of returning home. How long would it take to defeat the waves? A year? Two? A decade? How would she even begin to explain that to her parents? And Ringo? She would murder her for sure once she returned!
Her thoughts were broken by a small tap on her shoulder that almost made her jump. Raising her head, she came face to face with the Spear wielding young man, who now had a worried look.
"Little Lady, are you alright?" He asked.
Way to close! She could almost feel his breath on her face and took a step back wondering if the Spear Hero had any notion of personal space.
"Huh?"
"Kiyoko, it's your turn to introduce yourself." Naofumi added from behind her.
"Ohhh…" She turned to look at the entire room, the occupants looking at her expectantly.
Way to look like an incompetent idiot… Get a grip Kiyoko, you can agonize over this later! She chastise herself as she raised her new weapon slightly, before turning to look at the king, "My name is Nozomi Kiyoko. I'm Seventeen, third-year High-school Student."
"So Kiyoko, Motoyasu and Itsuki then…" the king uttered as his eyes passed each one.
So Motoyasu is the tall one, and the smaller one with curly hair besides me is Itsuki.
"Hey king, you forgot about me!" Naofumi complained looking just a small bit annoyed.
"Oh I apologize…" Aultcray drawled in a slow and low tone, before continuing, "… now then Heroes, please confirm your status, and evaluate yourselves."
Check your status?
"Huh?" Naofumi exclaimed, looking every bit as confuse as she was feeling.
Itsuki raised his hand in the air, "Excuse me your highness, but how do we do that?"
The King coughed in his hand, before replying, "Take a look at the corner of your vision."
Taking a glance towards said direction, Kiyoko was almost taken aback when sure enough, there was an icon in her vision, not all that different from the apps on her smart phone. Ignoring the surprise shout from Naofumi, she began to raise her hand towards it, when it expanded.
Name: Nozomi Kiyoko
Class: Sword Hero LV - 1
Equipment: Small Sword (Legendary Weapon)
Other World Clothes
…
This is just like an RPG menu! She concluded with no small amount of wonder. Eyes roaming, she could see a multitude of different menus, from Magic to skills, even current party members. Eventually, her eyes focused on what seemed like a grid on her left.
Are those stats? This is so weird, it's just like a game. She thought to herself. To have a physical representation of one's strength and abilities, even her own health had a number. Looking at the numbers, she couldn't help but to analyze them slightly. Her highest stat was speed, followed close behind by attack power and defense. Mid-way was magic, with magical defense being on the lower end of the spectrum.
All-in-all what she had expected from a melee character that excelled at close quarters.
It goes hand in hand with this sword hero business, I guess.
"Level one huh…" Motoyasu trailed off from behind her.
"Indeed, I'm not entirely sure we can fight like this…" Itsuki added.
"This looks like something out of a game." Naofumi concluded.
"Do you not know what it is? What you are seeing right now is called status magic. Everyone in his world can see and use it." The king explained, waving his hand lazily in the air.
"Wait? So everyone in this world has numbers attached to their potential, is that it?" Kiyoko found herself asking in disbelief.
"Yes, that's exactly the case." Aultcray confirmed with a nod.
"That aside, these numbers seem pretty low," The Bow Hero comented, with a small frown.
Once more the adviser stepped forward, "Yes well... The four of you must embark on a journey to not only strengthen yourselves but also the holy weapons you possess."
"Wait, so these things aren't strong from the get go?" The shield hero questioned out loud.
"Well, it kind of makes sense if you think about it…" Kiyoko supplied, gaining the others attention, ".. I mean we start at level one, so it makes sense that these weapons aren't that strong, right?
"They are called legendary weapons, though." Naofumi pointed out.
Fair enough… "Still, it would be pretty broken if these weapons were maxed out from the get go."
"Why don't we use other weapons while they are growing in power? Seems like the best idea to me." Motoyasu interjected as he spun his spear.
Clearing his throat, the adviser tried to gain their attention once more. "According to our information, the heroes have to raise the weapons themselves. That's how they increase in power."
Sounds like taking care of a pet to me, when he phrases it like that… She considered as she glanced at her sword, the blue jewel gleaming, and maybe it was the light, but it almost seemed like it was mocking her.
"Okay, I get the gist of it, so…" Naofumi trailed off as he scratched his head in contemplation, before looking at each one of the other heroes, "… do he form a party? The four of us?"
"That does seem like the reasonable thing to do. Strength in numbers and all that…" Kiyoko mumbled, but was still heard by all present.
"Unfortunately, that will not be possible." The King made himself heard once more.
"Why is that?" The Spear Hero asked in confusion.
"According to the legends," He began, "… The weapons you possess will repel each other in a sense, making it impossible for them to grow while in proximity."
Furrowing her eyebrows, she quickly opened the help menu to check that piece of information, but before she could explore it properly, Itsuki's voice rang out.
"Found it! It's in the party members' section."
Lowering her gaze, the window before her begun to scroll down, and she couldn't help but be impressed by the amount of topics before her. Finally above the Power-up Methods, she found the Party section.
Warning: The Legendary Weapons and their wielders will suffer adverse effects if they are in proximity.
"Guess it's true then." Motoyasu observed, "So this means we have to find party members ourselves, right?"
Oh gods no! Kiyoko shouted internally as her face morphed in horror at the idea. She was bad at talking to people in most cases. Years where her only stable source of communication had been Ringo and her parents had seen to that. Sure, back in the virtual world, she had her guild, but it had taken her a while for her to open up to them. Now-a-days she would joke and be sassy with her guild members, but it was still a very awkward affair when she had to search for parties outside of it.
She was still traumatized when Ringo had all but force her against her will to try and recruit freshmen to their Kendo club when the year begun, all the while dressed in an hakama in front of their school.
"Do not worry yourselves Heroes, for I will secure some travel companions for you all. That said, it's close to evening, so you should all rest for the night, and tomorrow you can set out on your adventure." The King explained, making Kiyoko sigh lightly in relief.
Having a small pool of people to choose from would make the entire thing a lot less awkward for her.
From the side, a woman dress in a rather plain dress approach them, and bowed, "If you would follow me, honorable heroes, I shall take you to your rooms."
With that, Kiyoko fell in line and began walking along her summoned companions.
The trip to their rooms had been nonsensical, but it let her have a preview of the colossal dimension of the Castle. Upon reaching it she had taken a quick look at it, and it seemed something truly straight of a fairy tale, unfortunately since her companions had been mostly silence, thoughts about her family once more filled her mind. The maid left, but not before informing them that she would return to inform them when dinner would be served.
Both Motoyasu and Itsuki quickly made themselves at home, and based on the way their eyes keep darting around, that they were checking their status magic as the kind had called it. Naofumi, for his part, was taking in the room glamor with all the innocence of a small child.
She quickly took her seat on the sofa, and a part of her wanted to check her Status Magic to take her head off her family, but she found she couldn't.
Her mother had always been quite overbearing, so she could only imagine in what panic the woman currently was, especially since she had disappeared from her room.
I'm sorry mom…
Her father had always been a lot more freed-spirit, a counter-balance to her mother, the ying to her yang. If he knew she was safe, he might just tell her to go on adventure and have fun, and probably pout for not being able to join her.
… and Ringo…
She could almost hear her best friend screaming all kinds of obscenities on what idiot she had been, yet at the same time she could hear her laughter and gibes at her being summoned to a world that seemed straight of a video game.
That's if I could even get her to believe me…
"Kiyoko?"
Raising her head that had been firmly pressed against her knees, she looked towards the speaker humming, all the while wondering when was it that she had curled up.
"Are you still down from not being able to return home?" Naofumi questioned, leaning forward.
"Yeah… Like I said, my parents are probably worried sick about me…" she admitted out loud.
The Shield Bearer for his part hummed softly, as he looked to the ceiling, "Maybe not…"
Her face frowned at the young man's words. "What do you mean?"
Naofumi smiled softly, but somewhat smug as he pointed towards the celling, "I might not look like it, but I'm pretty Light Novels you know."
"Yes, and..?" she asked, her tone coming out stronger than intended.
"Well…" He cough bashfully, before continuing, "… a lot of the stories I read were people get transported to another world, when they return home, normally they return to the moment they were summoned, and no time passed at all." He finished.
Her shoulders relaxed as her lips twitch into a hint of a smile. "I hope you're right."
He scratched his head, but shot her a smile.
Swinging her legs side ways she leaned back, shaking her head. As much as she wanted to go home, the reality was she was struck for the time being. It wasn't like she believed in Aultcray words blindly, since desperate people would very easily lie to save themselves, and those they loved, so she would definitely search for a way back, but for now she had no choice but to play her part.
Raising her sword up, she eyed the deep blue jewel in the center for a moment. "A Hero, huh?"
"Hard to believe, right?" Motoyasu questioned excitedly.
"Yeah…" she mumbled. She still couldn't wrap her head around it. The King had said that the weapon had chosen them as heroes. She didn't know about the others, though at first glance none of them seemed hero material to her, much less her.
"I don't really consider myself hero material, I'm just your average Otaku you know…" she admitted.
"Heroes aren't born little Kiyoko, you just have to grow into it!" Motoyasu exclaimed, raising his spear in the air, from his spot on the chair.
Little Kiyoko? Well whatever… She dismissed the thought, after all Motoyasu did seem to have a special air around himself. The kind that screamed popular and easy to get along with. She wasn't particularly good with those types, but she had to make an effort. They were summoned comrades after all.
Then again… I'm not good with anyone that isn't named Ringo. She had to lower her face to prevent her from laughing at herself, though if it was out of humor, or just sad she didn't know.
"Miss Kiyoko, can I ask a question?" Itsuki, joined the conversation.
"Yes?"
"You said that your parents were worried because you disappeared suddenly… What did you mean by that?" The Bow Hero asked, his eyes shaping, as he clapped his hand in front of himself.
"It's just like it sounds. I was hanging I my room reading a light novel on my computer, when I passed out. Next thing I know I'm here I this world." She explained, looking down.
The Bow Hero narrowed his eyes almost impressibility before sighing, "I see."
The Shield hero's head snapped upwards, "Kiyoko, can you recall what it was called?
"Huh?" she question tilting her head.
"The light novel?" Naofumi specified, leaning forward once more.
"Oh… Hmm, The Record of the Four Holy Weapons."
The Shield Hero's eyes almost shined as he jump from his chair," That's the same as me!" He exclaimed, as he watched the perplexed looks on the rest of the room and continued, "I mean, to me it wasn't on a PC though, it was a book in the library."
"A book? She asked, receiving a nod, "and it had the same title you say?"
Naofumi gave another nod, "Yeah, it explained this setting more or less, and talked about the four heroes too!" He explained, before caching himself, "Well, about three of them, the Shield part was blank for some reason…"
Kiyoko's eyes widened at that. "Wait, mine also had a Blank section, but it was the sword one!" She also exclaimed.
"That is indeed odd… That each of your respective books had the part that was supposed to speak about you in blank." Itsuki remarked as his eye browns furrowed, "But even weirder is the fact that there is a light novel about the plot of dimensional wave and I've apparently missed it…"
"Dimensional Wave? What's that?" Naofumi asked, confused.
The Bow Hero's eyes widened incredibly, "Naofumi you don't know what Dimensional wave is?!"
The Shield Hero shook his head. "Never heard of it? Is it some kind of anime?"
"Wrong!" Itsuki almost shouted as he jumped from his chair, almost aggravated. "How have you never heard of one the greatest and most popular console RPG ever?"
Scratching his head, he asked, "You sure it's as popular as you are making it out to be?"
"Of course it is! You have to be have been living under a rock to not have heard of it!" Itsuki exploded, throwing his arms in the air.
"Hmmm…" Kiyoko intervened, raising her hand in the air before adding her too cents, "I also never heard of it, and I'm pretty into the gaming scene so if it was as famous as you are claiming it to be, I'm pretty sure I would have heard of it."
"Itsuki you really shouldn't lie, that's not cool." Motoyasu finally made himself heard.
"I'm not lying!" Itsuki replied through gritted teeth.
"Yes you are, and the proof is the fact that I also have never heard of this Dimensional Wave game, and if it existed, it would have been sued to the ground for copying the plot of Emerald online, I mean this is the exact same world!" He explained with a tone of finality.
Exact same world? We're inside a game? Sure their current situation did seemed like something straight out of a game, or anime, especially since she had skim trough the book that seemed just like this one, yet it still seemed to real, and the people she had interacted with were no NPC's.
"Emerald Online?! I never heard of such a game!" Itsuki shot back.
"What?! It's like super famous! You're the one who had been living under a rock!"
"Stop making stuff up, Motoyasu!"
Head going back and forth between the both of them, she decided to nudge the perplexed Shield Hero with her foot. "Hey Naofumi, you ever heard of this Emerald Online?" She whispered.
He shook his head. "No… I'm also an avid gamer and never heard of it. I played Odin Online and Fantasy Moon Online, though. Those are pretty famous, but they don't have a plot like this…"
She scratched her head in confusion, "I never heard of those titles either… The most famous ones I know of are Arcadia Journey Online, and Legacy Never-Ending, which I play."
"I never heard of either of those two either…" He trailed off, lowering his head. Then a moment later he before raised his hand in the air "Alright, alright guys stop arguing!"
Both of them stopped at that huffing, as they took a seat, but still glaring at each other from the corner of their eyes.
Releasing a sigh, the Shield Hero also returned to his seat. "Alright so I have an idea of what is happening, but I have to ask a few questions to be sure okay?" He asked, and after receiving confirmation from the three, he nodded to himself, "Alright… So we answer at the same time…" He took a breath, "Who is the current Prime Minister?"
"Masado Yuda."
"Gotaro Yawara."
"Takero Yamada."
"Shigeno Ichifuji."
There was an awkward moment of silence between all present as they gazed at each other confused, realization slowly sinking in.
Kiyoko herself had never even heard of the names of those presidents, and although she wasn't that political included just like the great majority of Japanese people weren't, one had to attest know the names of some of the past leaders of their own country.
Naofumi was the first to break the silence, "I though so…" he took a moment to collect himself, "At first I thought we might have just been from different time periods, but this settles it."
"We're from different versions of Japan." Kiyoko stated, though it had come out almost like a question.
The Shield Hero nodded, "Yeah, that's the most likely explanation."
"I does seem that way." Itsuki commented taking another seat, then he raised his head, "Though…" he trailed off, a small smug smile tugging at his lips, "… you both said you came here from reading a book yes?"
Kiyoko looked at Naofumi, who matched her gaze before nodding.
The Bow Hero's smile grew a bit as he leaned back, crossing his arms, "I see."
Motoyasu seemed to finally caught on as realization hit him, and he sent them both a pitying glance.
The heck is it with those looks? Did I lose some kind of inside joke? Kiyoko though feeling slightly annoyed.
"What?" Naofumi asked, sounding about as annoyed as Kiyoko herself felt.
Instead of answering, Itsuki moved his gaze towards the Spear Hero, "Motoyasu, is that same for you right?"
Motoyasu bobbed his head almost solemnly, but there was no mistaking the smile on his face, an exact copy of Itsuki's.
"It's a pity, no?"
"Yup though I suppose Kiyoko isn't that bad off, right?" Motoyasu asked offhandedly, sending the mentioned girl a side glance, his eyes resting on her weapon for a moment.
"Indeed." Itsuki agreed, sending her a measured look, "All things considered she much better off."
"Hey now! Mind letting us in on that conversation?!" Naofumi demanded, finally losing his patience.
Itsuki shook his head slight still smiling, "You don't get it Naofumi? This world..!" He exclaimed, raising his arms in the air in a grand gesture, "… is based on a game that I played extensively, and from the looks of it the same is true for Motoyasu." He looked towards the Blond who nodded in agreement, before returning his lance towards the other two, puffing his chest, "You two on the other hand got sent here by reading a book! A book of all things!" He was laughing lightly now, shaking his head again, "Do you get it now?"
Kiyoko quickly understood what the Bow Hero was getting at. After all, their world seemed to be filled with RPG elements, so unlike her who had mostly skimmed through the story, both Itsuki and Motoyasu had extensive knowledge about and an unfair amount of advantage over her Naofumi. The gamer in her rose to the surface in response to her frustration.
"T-Thats cheating!" She claimed, pointing her finger towards the two young men.
"Now, now don't be mad Kiyoko!" Motoyasu tried to pacifier her with a disarming smile.
The smile, however, almost seemed like he was looking down on her, and only made her more aggravated
Before the girl could explode, Itsuki was quick to cut her off. "Is it really cheating Miss Nozomi? He asked sarcastically, his eyelids lowering slightly, but maintaining the same smile, "I mean both of you came to this world by reading a book, me on the other hand, I got sent here after being run over a truck."
Whatever response she had ready for the Bow Hero died there, and suddenly everything about their meeting with the King made sense to her. The reason why the Bow Hero hadn't even seemed preoccupied with going home had been because he had actually died in his previous world.
But wait f that is true then… Her wide eyes fell on the Spear Hero, "M-Motoyasu you too?"
The Blond scratched his head, releasing a small embarrassed smiled, "Yes, though I didn't get run over though, but I'm pretty sure I also died."
So he also doesn't have a place to return too most likely… She thought suddenly felling sorry for her fellow heroes.
"So you see Miss Nozomi, I think this knowledge that we possess is a good trade-off, don't you agree?" Itsuki asked tilting his head to the side innocently.
She found she couldn't answer that. On one hand, they had met a horrible fate in their previous world, on the other, though she had played enough to know just how much of an advantage over them they had.
"H-Hey both, even then you guys can't give us some tips, right?" Naofumi asked nervously, realizing the situation they were in.
"Well…" Motoyasu trailed off, ending with a smile that screamed fake, as he slowly moved towards Naofumi, "… alright. Leave it to me. I will teach you the basics." He said as he lay a hand the shield hero shoulder.
Kiyoko inched a little closer, listening with rapt attention, after all she was as much of a noob as Naofumi was.
"So you have a Shield, that means you are the equivalent of a Shielder class in Emerald Online, and that means in the beginning you have insane levels of defense." Motoyasu explained, as the Shield hero released a sound of agreement, "However as the game progresses the damage starts to ramp up, and that super defense of yours starts to mean literally nothing, and your damage is really low, so what I mean to say is the Shielder is a useless class." Motoyasu finished.
"Noooooo!" Naofumi screamed as he threw his hands over his head.
Kiyoko winced at the sound, finding the reaction somewhat exaggerated.
Then again, if I got summoned into another world, and someone told me my class was useless, I would probably feel the sa… "Wait?! What about the Sword-class?!" she asked nervously, feeling her stomach drop. If her class sucked along with everything else, that would just be the worst.
Motoyasu, however, waved off her worries, "Don't worry Kiyoko! Your class it's pretty solid, it almost plays by itself." He assured her.
She sent a glance to Itsuki, who nodded in response, " Yes, the Sword-Class is pretty strong. There is nothing to worry about."
She released a sigh of relief at knowing she wasn't stuck with a useless or weak class.
"W-What about class change? I can change into something more useful, right? Naofumi tried.
"Sorry, the game never let you change class." The Spear Hero admitted.
Sending an almost pleading glance towards the Bow Hero, Naofumi's expression sunk when the teen shook his head. "Sorry it was the same for me."
Raising her head, she did finally took pity on the Shield Hero, who still seemed depressed, "Cheer up Naofumi. This is still a whole new world, right?" She supplied, although even with her own ears it sounded fake, especially since her heart wasn't into it for more than one reason.
Thankfully, the Shield Hero didn't seem to notice her tone because he launched himself off of his chair with a smile, "You're right. I might not be the strongest character, but all will work itself out!"
Well, it is a Fantasy world, so it probably will. Just stick him with a couple of nice party members and he should be fine… After they level up or something… That reminds me… She stopped her inner musing then, "Motoyasu, you said you would explain the basics, but you basically only explained that Naofumi class apparently sucks, and mine doesn't… Don't you want to ho a little more in depth?"
The Spear seemed to muse over it, almost as he was weighting his options before opening his mouth, "Well first you should read your help menu first Kiyoko, most of the basic information is there. Then you should get your feet wet, and get a feel for how it goes, even I'm not too sure if everything is the same. After that, if you do have any doubts, just come to Big-Brother Motoyasu, and I will be sure to teach you everything you want!" He finished with a wink in her direction.
She tried her best not to shudder at the action. She to acknowledge that what he had said did had some sense to it, after all there was no point in knowing what the best leaving spots where, or where you could find the best items, if she didn't even knew how to play the game.
It's the same as looking for a guide for a raid when you never even played the game. Most Information will fly over your head, and he did promised he would help me later. Though she wasn't really looking forward to it after the creepy wink he had sent her way. It wasn't even that Motoyasu was bad looking quite the contrary actually, she just hadn't been into that kind of thing, though she acknowledged that she was most likely over thinking it. The gesture had probably been harmless and unconscious, but she couldn't help herself. Motoyasu did give off the vibe that he was the kind of guy who would flirt with anything so long as it was female.
Her thoughts were broken by a soft knock on the door, and her eyes went to it as it opened, revealing the same maid that had brought them to their quarters.
The woman bowed her head at the waist. "Heroes. I just came to inform you that dinner is ready to be served." She raised herself, motioning with her hand towards the hallway, "If you would be so kind as to follow me I shall escort you to the dining room."
"Great! Let's eat then!" Motoyasu exclaimed, almost jumping from his seat.
As if agreeing with the Spear Hero's claim, her stomach grumbled softly, reminding her that she had no clue how much time had passed since her last meal.
Raising from her place on the sofa, she stretched lightly, having been in the same position for hours. There would be time for her to think and understand her new position in this world, as well as iron out the kinks from her class and how everything around it worked, but for now she would follow their lead. She was indeed quite famish herself.
Besides… There's probably nothing to worry about. Both Motoyasu and Itsuki seem like the honest kind, and as much as I hate it they are far more knowledgeable than I am so if they say my class is a easy and good one, there should be some truth to them.
With those thoughts, she felt herself relax as she followed them out of the room. As much as she missed her family, there was still a small part of her that was excited by the adventure that was about to start.
