What I had lost, She had gained.
Author's note: I wrote this after reading Petrichor, Fate: A King for the Fairy Queen and RitsukaXCastoria Shorts. Here's my own oneshot.
The former sixth Lostbelt King was recently summoned by Chaldea, though she remembered everything what happened until the moment of her death.
Her life was always filled with regrets. One piled upon each other, until she, herself was consumed by it.
Morgan's emotions were all but shut away, all to be replaced with a cold exterior that had allowed her to rule with an iron fist. Even the moment where she had clashed with the rebels, supported by her former opponents, Chaldea. Again, fate had slapped her with the most cruellest of jokes.
The Fae ruler had finally caught sight of who was part of the enemy force. The master of Chaldea, Fujimaru Ritsuka. She didn't believe the reports from her Fairy Knights. She needed to confirm this with her own eyes. Upon seeing his face, her visage had cracked. For the first time in many years, her eyes had started to water. However, she saw who was accompanying Ritsuka. Morgan's eyes narrowed as rage started to build up as she sees that the male was accompanied by one that had reminded her of her distant past, Avalon Le Fae. She hated this...
In a very distant past...
A boy, no older than a teenager appeared in a forest had appeared inside what appeared in a spell circle. Extremely confused, he looked around only to see a young girl wearing a strange uniform that reminded him of the Magus Association back at home.
"Hello there," the girl had stepped over to him and greeted him,
The male looked over and smiled back, "Hi there, I am Fujimaru Ritsuka, nice to meet you."
The girl smiled back and answered, "greetings, I am Tonelico, the one who summoned you." She looked shyly at the stranger, "I summoned you here because I was alone. I have nobody, no family, no more friends to accompany me."
Ritsuka frowned, he knew what it was like to be alone at first. It was not a pleasant experience. However, after the threat of the Goetia and while he had still struggled with the feeling of destroying 5 Lostbelts in the process, he had made many friends, all of them were irreplacable to him. He extended his hand, "if nobody would be your friend, then I will."
Tonelico had smiled the widest she had for a long time...
The two, the Fae and the human, had formed a bond in more ways than one.
Eventually, the two had formed a contract during the journey to ring all the bells.
"No! I insist you to be the Master!" Tonelico pouted as she pointed her reasoning, she had pointed out her reasoning that because she was stronger in both Magic reserves and her superiority as a Magus, would allow her to protect Ritsuka without being hindered. Ritsuka had given up on the girl's stubborness, he knew by experience how hard headed some people, including some Servants, back at Chaldea. So he nodded, and the pact was formed.
This is almost like a marriage engagement isn't it? Tonelico's visage started to turn into a scarlet hue and she started to panic internally.
Though, there were some rough moments and tough enemies that the pair had dealt with, Tonelico had reached her final destination, the last bell.
There were many thoughts that ran through the Fae's mind as she took her time walking towards her goal. Before she did, she turned around, looking back at Ritsuka as she stared at him with all her strength.
"I want to thank you, my dear companion, Ritsuka, for being there with me. This period of time was the happiest moment of my life, I want you to be there with me. I want to walk side by side with you as we ring this bell together." She extended her hand for Ritsuka, waiting for him to accept her offer. Tonelico was extending this offer, it was up to the male, if he had wanted to take her offer. She would not force Ritsuka into this, she wanted Ritsuka to accept this willingly.
There was no hardly a moment to pause, as Ritsuka firmly held Tonelico's hand. Partners, they were. They wouldn't abandon each other like this. It was in Ritsuka's nature to lend a helping hand to all that needed one.
The two took the string as they rang the bell together. In Tonelico's mind, this was the prelude to another phase of happiness, the bells reminded her of the wedding chimes that she had heard many times in her life and now, it would ring for her.
The blonde held her staff hard as she prepared herself, "Ritsuka, I want you to know that you are a dear friend to me, but also I want to take the next step. Can you please take me as your wif..."
Except, there was nobody there, there was no trace of Ritsuka anywhere.
"Ritsu..." The girl crumpled down, not believing what had happened. She tried to feel the connection between her beloved partner. It was no longer there. The warmth, the bond, was replaced with cold emptiness of a void.
Tonelico could only realise the harsh truth.
Ritsuka was gone. No longer in this world. The girl cried her heart out into the sky, anguish rushing out of her in waves. There was to be no comfort, for nothing could replace the void that now consumed her heart...
As for the said missing person, he had found himself in a familiar forest. Not knowing that had been thrown much further into the future, but the travel had jumbled his recent memories. He saw a familiar silhouette, but he could not remember her name.
Back to the present,
Morgan had finished inspecting her surroundings as she took in the following. She had found Ritsuka again, this time, his arms was interlinked with the one that resembled herself, Artoria Caster, as she had called herself. But, she would always be Avalon le Fae, in Morgan's eyes.
The two were chatting happily and without a worry, they laughed as they told their tales of adventure, a private memory between the two no doubt, Morgan thought.
The once familiar bottle of emotions started to bottle up within the former Lostbelt Ruler. Her vision started to blur as drops of tears started to pour down the cheeks. She quickly rubbed her sleeve, her other hand held her staff harder.
Ritsuka, why? I loved you all this time...Why must Fate be so cruel to me?
