It was the Autumn of 2016 though it might as well be winter in the Kingdom of Freezenburg. In fact, it might as well be winter all the time in Freezenburg. At least that's what Princess Hildegard thought to herself as she gazed out of her bedroom window. She sighed.

'Stop being so nervous, Hildy," the Princess scolded herself. 'You knew this trip was coming. Of coarse it would help is I knew where I was going already.'

Hildegard sighed again. The annual "Royal Among Commoners Trip" (or "RACT" as it was commonly known) was an important part of Freezenburgish tradition. At least that's what her parents always told her. They of obviously underwent their RACTs when they were her age as did her grandparents. Even her older sister, Astrid underwent the trip. Now it was her turn.

Hildegard had both looked forward to, but also dreaded her RACT. Sure she would get to have a little adventure and meet new friends but she'd also be away from her family for at least a week. A week among strangers she needed to help with life and befriend.

Okay, not everyone would be strangers; Peter Albany, a friend of the Family would be assisting (and babysitting) her for the...

Hildegard's thoughts were interrupted by a knock on her door.

"Sweetheart" said King Henrik on the other side of the door, "it's us."

"Come in" replied the Princess as her parents, Queen Ingrid and King Henrik along with her sister, Princess Astrid entered the room.

"Are you doing alright, Hildy" asked the Queen.

"Yeah" replied Hildegard, "'just a little nervous."

"I'm sorry" said Astrid, stroking her sister's back.

"Have you figured out where my RACT will be" asked Hindegard.

"Indeed we have" replied Ingrid.

"Your trip is to be in America," said Henrik, "Royal Woods, Michigan to be precise."

"Michigan" said Hildegard nervelessly, "that's so far."

"We know" said Ingrid, "but Peter is friends with a family in that area. The Family you'll be visiting."

"Who are they" asked Hildegard.

"The Loud Family" replied Henrik, "very nice folks Mister and Misses Loud are."

"Do they have kids" asked Hildegard.

"Eleven" replied Astrid.

"Eleven!?"

"Yes" went Henrik, "and they can be a handful but they're all good kids. I think you'll like them."

"I hope so" said Hildegard, "because eleven kids sounds like too much for me to handle."

"Now, Hildegard" scolded the Queen, "I'm sure you'll do fine. You've certainly succeeded in difficult tasks in the past."

Hildegard sighed. "I guess you're right. I'm just worried because I'll be away for a week."

"We know" assured the King, "believe me, I was very nervous on my RACT when I was your age."

"So was I" added the Queen, "but I persevered and I know you will to."

Ingrid then hugged her younger daughter. "Look at you, you're gonna be sixteen this December. It's hard to believe you're growing up so fast."

Hildegard smiled at her mom. "So when do I leave?"

"Peter is to pick you up tomorrow morning" replied Henrik.

"And that means you need plenty of sleep tonight" added Ingrid.

That afternoon was spent preparing for Hildegard's trip by lots of packing.

Hildegard was a little disappointed that she couldn't bring more of her jewelry but she also knew there wouldn't be anywhere to keep it during the trip.

Eventually the packing was finished and the Royal family ate a quick dinner before heading to bed.

"Goodnight, Sis" said Astrid as she hugged her little sister.

"Goodnight, Astrid" replied Hildegard, hugging her sister back before heading to her room. She then changed into her nightgown before climbing into her bed.

'I really hope I'll get along with these Loud Kids' Hildegard thought to herself before falling asleep.
