AN: I don't know why I decided to write this, but what if Dimitri found out about his father being Tatiana's nephew not long after he was turned back and what if Rose and Adrian broke up sooner because he found out a secret that she only told her parents, Lissa and Christian. Something that would bring Dimitri back to her.
Her back ached as she heard the obnoxious ringing of her phone on the coffee table as she growled, sitting up to answer the call. Her dark eyes made out the name on the screen as she felt anxiety through the bond. She frowned as she picked it up.
"Hello?" She yawned. "Rose, its Daniella…I know you and Adrian broke up…but I'm worried about him." Adrian's mother said, making her frown. "What's wrong?" Rose asked, still trying to wake up. "Since Tatiana told us that she's giving Dimitri Randall's title and accepting him as his son publicly, Adrian has been in a dark place…he's been mumbling and paranoid…could you talk to him?" Daniella asked. "Yeah…just tell him to meet me at the park by the hospital." Rose told her. "Thank you…I'll call Hans and ask him to keep a few extra around…Just in case." Daniella replied. "Okay." Rose said.
Lissa appeared a moment later as Rose groaned. It was only September and she was ready to not be pregnant. Lissa came over as she helped her stand. She didn't like that her friend was trying to push herself. She was supposed to be on bedrest because of blood pressure being so high. The twins were only two pounds and she need to give them more time to grow.
"What are you doing?" She asked. "Adrian…guess his mom things I can talk him down." Rose replied, making her frown. "Spirit darkness?" Lissa asked. "Yeah…guess him finding out he and Dimitri where cousins hasn't helped…but we broke up months ago." Rose sighed. "Come on." Lissa sighed, "I'm going with you."
Rose changed into maternity jeans, her fur lined crocs because her feet were swollen and a cardigan over the maternity shirt she wore. Lissa had a jacket on as well as they walked down to where Adrian wanted to meet. Thankfully, it wasn't too cold out and if something happened, they were close to the hospital. Rose really just wanted to sleep.
Meanwhile, Dimitri sighed as he paced in the town house that Tatiana had given him to use while his father's old house was being renovated for him. His housekeeper, Jenna, a blonde Moroi girl saw his eyes as he stared out the window. She smiled softly as she came over to him, making him look up as her soft, Irish accented voice spoke.
"Perhaps a walk will help…whoever she is, she's till on your mind." She said, making him sigh. "She is…when I last saw her, she was trying to tell me something important and I broke her heart." He admitted. "I wouldn't be that pregnant guardian, would it?" Jenna chirped, making his head whip around. "How do you know she's pregnant?" He breathed. "I see through the charm she's wearing…I'm a spirit user myself." She smiled, "Go find her…Something tells me she'll take ya stubborn self back." Jenna winked, making him stare at her a moment as she floated out of the room.
Dimitri took her advise and put on his jacket. Since being coming a royal, he had to change his style and look more presentable. Hans had told him if he wanted to teach some classes while at court, he could. Dimitri was often at the gym when he wasn't working, sparing and teaching younger guardians. He had wondered why his Roza wasn't there. Now he knew and he had a feeling he knew who the father was.
He came to the park by the hospital and saw her from a distance with Adrian and Lissa. As he sat on the bench, Eddie appeared next to him, trying to not be seen as he watched Adrian closely. Dimitri frowned as the young guardian looked at him, placing his fingers to his lips. He knew that there was something very wrong going on.
"What?" Dimitri asked, doing the same. "Adrian…he's cracking…Since he and Rose broke up and you getting your father's title, he's mental unstable…Her majesty is working on getting him to the psych ward…Rose is here just to see if he can calm down some." Eddie said, hearing him shouting, "Holy shit." "What?" Dimitri frowned. "Rose…she's pregnant…like about to pop kind of pregnant." He breathed, making him turn as he charged her, "Damn it…I'm moving in."
Eddie jumped up as Adrian held her by the throat against the tree, his fangs out as he tried to bite Rose. She had pushed Lissa away as Mikhail and Theo came over. Dimitri followed as Hans came out of his office nearby to see them moving in. He cursed as well as Adrian was restrained and Lissa moved to safety. Eddie and her watched as Rose hissed in pain, making them all frown.
"You whore…I knew it…I fucking knew it!" Adrian screamed, "I should kill them and you!" "Get him out of here…keep him in a cell till the Queen decides what to do!" Hans ordered as Dimitri moved to her side.
"Easy." Dimitri said, catching her as she collapsed into his arms. "Comrade." She wheezed, making him nod. "I'm here." He replied as she moved his hand to her stomach as she weakly smiled at him before passing out.
It was seconds later that the medical team arrived to take her to the ER. Dimitri watched as Lissa scrambled over to her as they put a tube in her throat, proving air for the twins as she explained what happened. He saw Janine and Abe rushing over and following them in. His dark eyes looked to Adrian, who was being led away by two prison guards. Mikhail saw his stare as he came over to him.
"Thank you." He said, making him nod. "What was that?" Dimitri frowned. "Adrian's spirit darkness drove him to try and turn…and he just found out Rose was pregnant…Only a handful knew…I suppose it was what she was trying to tell you that day in the church." Mikhail. "What…that's why she put my hand on her stomach." He breathed, making him nod. "Idiot…You should go see her when things calm down a bit." His friend told him. "Yeah…what will happen to him?" Dimitri asked. "I am not sure…enjoying being a royal yet?" He smirked. "I am not sure…Right now, I'm trying to get my house finished." Dimitri sighed. "Are you going to join the discussion of making 16-year-olds, guardians?" He asked. "I am and I am against it…Roza was a special case." Dimitri told him. "I know." He replied.
A couple hours later, Dimitri walked into the hospital to see how Rose was. Abe was in the gift shop getting some coffee when he saw the young man asking where she was. The nurse smiled and pointed to the elevator and told him. Abe paid for his drink and headed to the elevator. Dimitri was waiting as well as he saw Abe there. He smirked as the young man turned to him.
"Going to see her finally?" He asked. "Yes…I was a fool." Dimitri sighed. "Yes, you were…you're lucky my little girl loves you." Abe told him, making him turn to him. "I should have recognized the sarcasm." Dimitri smirked, making him chuckle. "Well, I think that's genetic." He smiled, making him chuckle.
They got on and went up to the room where Rose was resting. Lissa and Janine were with her and were shocked to see Dimitri there. He heard the sound of two other hearts beating as Rose slept with oxygen in her nose. Lissa smiled at him as she let him take his place at her side. Christian was there and put his arm around Lissa, seeing him kneel and kiss her bandaged hand.
"She put her hand between the tree and her back so when she was shoved, her hand broke the impact…protecting the twins." Lissa said. "Are they harmed?" He asked. "No…they're okay." She replied.
"Thank you for being there…I don't know what your feelings are towards her still, but I am glad you were there to stop him." Janine said, making him turn to her. "I love her…then…I was an emotional mess…I had hurt her then and I know she forgave me for it…but I wasn't ready to forgive myself then." Dimitri nodded. "I hope you have because right now, Rose needs you…she and these babies do." She told him. "I have…I just hope she will take me back." He sighed. "She will…you being here tells me and Abe how much you care." Janine replied.
"Mitri?" A sleepy Rose mumbled, making them turn. "I'm here, Roza…our little ones are alright…sleep." He told her, kissing her hand. "Stay?" She yawned. "I'm staying." He replied, making her nod.
The four left, leaving him to be with her that night as he held her hand. Dimitri realized then that Rose was the woman he wanted to marry. He just hoped that she would let him take care of her. He listened to the sound of his daughters' tiny hearts beating as he fell asleep beside the woman he loved.
