(A/N: I do not own Paw Patrol, enjoy!)

Chapter 1: A New Truck and a New Pup

Suddenly, all the pup tags flashed "Paw Patrol to the Lookout!"

"Ryder needs us!" exclaimed all the pups as they ran howling to the elevator.

As they all turned around, they saw a familiar black and white ball bouncing toward them.

"Oh no," cried Zuma.

"Watch out" squeaked Skye.

"Incoming!" shouted Chase.

But it was too late, the bouncing dalmatian smashed into the pups like a bowling ball into bowling pins, creating a familiar pile.

At least some things never change thought Everest as she found herself atop a white and black spotted pup. She sniffed and smelled Lavender. Wait a minute, Marshall doesn't smell like Lavender…

"So that's what my wipeouts look like" laughed Marshall as he trotted into the elevator.

Everest looked down and realized she was on top of Cinder. "Oh, sorry" she apologized as she hopped off the dalmatian.

"Its ok," she replied with a smile. "It happens all the time around us" she continued as she pressed her head against Marshall.

Everest felt like throwing up.

As the pups changed, they realized that they had different gear on.

When the elevator reached to top of the lookout, all the pups hopped out into a line. Everest saw Cinder heading toward her normal spot next to Marshall so she jumped over next to Skye. Skye gave her a sympathetic nod.

"Paw Patrol ready for action Ryder sir" Chase sounded off, "Though I don't recognize this gear."

"That's because it is your new medical pup gear!" Ryder informed them. "You have new gear to go with our newest ultimate rescue rig." Ryder pulled up a picture of the new ultimate rescue truck. "This is our Mass Casualty Truck (MCT); it uses Marshall's ambulance as the base and is equipped for all sorts of medical emergencies. Are you pups ready to check it out?"

All the pups howled in response. "I'm ready for an Ultimate Ruff Ruff Rescue" barked Marshall as the cheers died down.

"Great, Paw Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder yelled as he ran to the fire pole and slide down to his ATV.

Marshall barked happily as he ran, slipped and slid down the slide with his customary lack of grace.

As he landed on his pup house, Marshall hit the buttons for ambulance and for ultimate rescue at the same time. He smiled as he saw his pup house start changing and drop into the garage below. He watched in awe as the rig was assembled around him and then lifted outside just in time for all the other pups to slide down and land in their spots.

Ryder drove up in his ATV. "Ok pups, since this isn't an actual mission just yet, we are going to walk through all the pieces of the MCT. Skye, go ahead and active your mini-vehicle"

Skye barked in response as she hit the activation button. Her section of the vehicle rapidly transformed into a sleek looking helicopter with a stretcher underneath it. "Wow" she exclaimed.

(A/N: think pup sized US Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin)

"This is our Life Flight Helicopter" Ryder explained, "it is used to get an injured person out of danger and to the MCT or a hospital as quickly as possible. There is also a secondary harness so can take another pup with you to help get the patient into the stretcher. Next up, Zuma!"

Zuma barked as he activated his mini-vehicle. It looked similar to his normal hovercraft except it had a stretcher on each side. "Cool dude!"

"Zuma, I used your normal hovercraft as a template and added more medical supplies and stretchers so you can bring back anyone who gets injured in the water. Next up, Tracker can hit your button?"

"I'm all ears!" Tracker replied. He and Everest popped out in a box shapped mini-vehicle, which had off road tires and a bunch of cabinets.

"What is this one?" asked Everest.

"This is our Search and Rescue truck" replied Ryder, "it has everything the two of you would need to find someone and bring them to safety. Everest, go ahead and hit your button."

Curious, Everest hit the button on her side and the truck quickly changed over from having off road tires to having tracks like her snowcat and the driving panel in front of her lit up. "Whoa" she exclaimed.

"As you can see, it can handle any off-road terrain except water. Ok rocky, go ahead and activate yours."

Rocky barked and he and Rubble immediately broke off into another mini-vehicle. This one looked just like Tracker's and Everest's except that it had normal tires. "Uh Ryder, is something wrong?" Rubble asked.

"No Rubble, this is our Urban Search and Rescue truck. While it looks like the SAR truck, the gear inside is very different. While Tracker and Everest have what the need to keep someone alive out in the wilderness, you two have everything for if something happens inside the city. You have special tools for getting into damaged buildings, jaws of life for getting into crashed vehicles, supports to hold up unstable sections of a building, as well as a mini crane to lift heavy things out of the way so you can get to injured people."

"Wow" Rocky and Rubble said in unison.

"Last but not least for the mini-vehicles, Cinder is in one of the two ambulances. They are so that you pups can bring an injured person back to the MCT so Marshall can treat them. Also, there is a Paramedic fast response car in the Cab so Marshall can race to you if the patient can't be moved safely. Let's all go look inside the truck!"

All the pups reparked the mini-vehicles and then ran around to the inside of the MCT. All the pups' jaws hit the floor as they saw the inside. There were two stretchers for patients, cabinets full of medical supplies and all sorts of special gear in the overhead on what looked like tracks.

"I need a volunteer," said Ryder.

"Come on Everest" called Marshall "you were a great patient in training!"

"Ok" replied Everest, she was not sure how she felt about being Marshalls pretend patient right now, especially with Cinder around. As she hopped up on the first stretcher, she felt Marshall carefully guiding her as she laid down.

"You are wearing that amazing scent again" Marshall whispered in her ear, "You know that I find it intoxicating…"

Everest blushed, she hopped that he wouldn't notice. She really hoped Cinder didn't notice either. Then she noticed Marshall was strapping her down. "Hey, what the?"

"Just so you don't' run off on me" Marshall whispered into her ear.

Everest was as red as Marshall's fire truck. Then she felt him hooking up all sorts of leads to her. "What are those for?" she asked nervously.

"For looking into your heart" Marshall whispered back with a wink.

Everest thought she was going to faint right there. Then she noticed two monitors behind her were now active. One looked like a squiggly line and the other looked like her skeleton.

"With this gear, I can keep tabs on a patient and make sure that they are ok while I work on them. Its like having another paramedic or EMT with me and can give me early warning of trouble. Like this" Marshall pointed at Everest's heart monitor as it showed that her heart beat was above normal.

"As always, it is important to keep the patient calm" Marshall said with a wink at Everest.

Everest wanted to bury herself in the snow and never be seen again. She spared a glance over at the other pups who were all grinning at her. Even Cinder had a knowing smirk on her face. I wonder what that means Everest wondered with a shudder. She is probably enjoying watching me squirm, knowing that tonight, I'll be all alone while she and Marshall play doctor she thought bitterly.

"Since this pup is obviously starting to overheat due to her fluffy coat but isn't suffering from heat stress just yet, I have just the remedy…"

Everest heard a faint click as the felt the restraints snap off. She looked at Marshall who had the biggest smirk on his face. What is he so amused about? she wondered. Then she saw him point up at the ceiling above her. As she turned her head, she heard another click of a latch releasing. Uh oh…

There was a great whoosh as a pile of snow dropped on top of Everest.

All the pups collapsed on the floor in laugher as Everest popped her head out of the snow bank.

"I'm going to kill you, Marshall!" she decreed as she glared at him.

"No you won't fluff ball" Marshall teased back with a wink, "I made sure there was enough for you to bellybogan to your hearts delight tonight, even if it is a small hill."

Everest turn and saw that indeed, there was a perfect path from where she was out of the truck, just the right amount of fresh snow to last the night.

"You bought yourself tonight spots, nothing more" she mock growled at him.

"That is all I need" replied with another wink.

Why is he being so flirty with me Everest wondered, Cinder is right there!

"And with that pups, let's celebrate Marshall's return!" Ryder shouted.

The pups all howled as they ran, or bellyboganed, out of the MCT and to the waiting tables of food and games.

The party was really swinging, the who town had shown up to celebrate Marshall's accomplishment and return.

Skye however, was having a very hard time. She wanted to be there for Everest, who she knew was having a difficult time. She was trying to avoid Marshall, who seemed rather intent on getting her to actually talk and spend time with him and Cinder. Skye shook her head; couldn't Marshall see how much his relationship with Cinder was hurting Everest? She wondered what was going through Marshall's obscenely thick skull. The worst part is that his very well might be clueless, he always has been oblivious to everything but the most obvious social cues. And it doesn't help that you need to hit him over the head with a 20 lb hammer to notice.

On the other hand, she wanted to actually meet and interact with Cinder. She seemed like such a sweet pup, practically a carbon copy of Marshall. Skye wondered if that was why Marshall liked her so much. They both seemed to be overflowing with playful energy, Marshall alone was contagious to be around but the two of them together were like a tsunami you couldn't avoid. Or dangerous she thought, who knows what having two hyper-energetic pups would do to the team and the lookout, not to mention Adventure Bay!

At the moment, Zuma and Cinder were competing in Pup-Pup-Boogie. Skye was amazed at how graceful Cinder was at the game. Her moves seemed effortless and precise. Skye and Zuma were the top two pups at the game but it looked like Cinder was about to dethrone the chocolate lab. Skye saw Marshall whisper something into Chase's ear before running inside. I wonder what that is about? She didn't have to wait long to find out and Chase walked up to her.

"A treat for your thoughts?" Chase teased as he sauntered over to his girlfriend.

"Not tonight!" Skye joked as the leapt up onto his back. She really did love the feeling of being up so high.

"Borrowing trouble?" Chase started his interrogation by making puppy eyes at her.

"Ha, it will take more your gorgeous eyes to break me officer!" Skye teasingly replied.

"Guess I'll just have to take it to the next level then" Chase said with an evil grin. Suddenly, he bounced Skye forward off of his back.

Skye had been expecting this and landed perfectly. She opened her mouth to speak as she turned around but was promptly pinned down on her back by Chase. "Is this it?" she asked coyly.

"No, your torture begins now" he smirked at her. Then he leaned down and started nibbling her neck.

Skye squirmed, she loved how it felt when he nibbled her like that. She gasped as she felt him gently pin her down with his whole body.

"You were thinking about Everest and Cinder and Marshall, weren't you?" he whispered in her ear as he stopped nibbling.

Skye sighed. Ask much as she didn't want him to stop, there would be time for that later. And it seemed like this conversation needed to happen now. "Yes, I don't know what to do. I want all three of them to be happy but I don't know if that is even possible."

"Oh it is" replied Chase with a knowing wink "Marshall has a plan."

"Uh huh, and how often do those work?" retorted Skye with amusement.

"Well, they never go according to plan" replied Chase with a smile. "But the results tend to be what he intends so I think we can roll with it."

"We?" replied Skye note of concern in her voice.

"We" replied Chase firmly. "Now I can't tell you everything I know yet, but I need you to get Everest to come up to the top of the lookout in 15 minutes."

"What is so special about 15 minutes from now?" asked Skye curiously.

"I'll tell you after you get Everest up there" Chase replied with a knowing smirk.

Skye leaned up and gave Chase a kiss. "You WILL tell me the plan" she whispered in his ear huskily when they broke for air.

"Not this time Darth Cockapoo" Chase replied back with a smirk, "Marshall can't risk you telling Everest what I know. So, if I don't tell you, you can't tell her."

"Party pooper!" Skye pouted back at him. And how exactly am I supposed to get Everest up to the top of the lookout in 15 minutes?"

"10 minutes now" Chase replied with a wink, "Have to account for the time we spent kissing."

"Well then I best get going" replied Skye. She turned to leave but felt Chase holding her in a hug.

"Don't worry, once you succeed, all will be revealed" Chase whispered huskily in her ear "and your rewards will be endless…"

"I'm going to hold you to that" Skye replied equally huskily before giving her boyfriend a quick kiss and running off to find Everest. This had better work…

Skye found Everest finishing an eating contest with Rubble. It was a speed eating contest and they were neck in neck. All the pups and people were cheering them on.

"Go Rubble!" shouted Rocky.

"You got him Evewest!" cheered Zuma.

"I can't believe what I'm watching" chimed in Tracker.

"DONE!" Rubble and Everest shouted in unison before turning to look at the other, surprise evident on their faces.

"A tie?!" everyone exclaimed.

"I'll get you next time Rubble!" pronounced Everest.

"No way, I'm not losing my eating champion status!" retorted Rubble.

Everyone laughed and started to move on to enjoying the food and playing other games. Skye caught Everest glancing around sadly before pasting a smile back on her face as she walked the edge of the crowd. Skye bounded over to her and asked "having fun Everest?"

"Of course!" Everest replied, "why do you ask?"

"Because I know when your smile comes from your heart and when it doesn't" replied Skye lovingly.

Everest let out a soft sigh as the two girls walked a little farther away from everyone. "You got me sis" Everest softly replied, "I'm having fun in the moment but it is only masking what I feel inside…"

"And that is?" Skye gently probed.

"Like something has been ripped out of my life and is being dangled right in front of me" Everest said with a quiver in her voice "and try as I might, I can't seem to reach it and put it back in."

"Chin up sis" Skye replied with a hint of hope in her voice, "I know a place where you can go and clear your head while looking at the stars."

"Into the forest at night?" Everest asked incredulously "I would prefer not to get eaten tonight, thank you!"

"No silly, up to the top of the lookout" Skye laughed, "if you go out on the balcony you can see so many stars and just listen to the ocean crashing on the cliffs below."

"You know, that's not a bad idea" mused Everest, "I'll head up there now."

The two BFFs walked to the elevator together. Skye watched her sister get in and ride it up.

"Good work my dear" a voice whispered in her ear.

Skye yipped and leaped high into the air. She belly flopped onto a brown back. "I should turn you into a rug" she glowered at her boyfriend.

"Maybe" replied Chase with a chuckle, but then you wouldn't get any more of these" as he leaned his head back and kissed her.

"Well, we can't have that" Skye giggled as she kissed him back. Then she turned to look at the elevator as it reached the top floor and she saw Everest slowly walk out. "You had better be right Chase."

"And why is that?" he replied with a curious glint in his eye.

"Because," Skye said sadly as she hopped off of his back, "if you aren't, we'll be able to fit the pieces of Everest's broken heart through the eye of a needle."

"That would be quite bad" Chase replied seriously. "However, I don't think it will come to that" he said with a wink as they walked back passed their pup houses to the party.

Skye took a step away from Chase before leaping with all of her might into his side. Chase yelped in surprise as he felt himself flying sideways through air. This can't be good he thought to himself as he braced himself for a hard handling. Skye had timed it perfectly, she and Chase sailed through the door of his pup house and landed on his bed.

"What was that sound?" Zuma asked as he looked toward the lookout and the pup houses but not seeing anyone.

"It sounded like Chase" replied Rocky, "but I don't see him or anything indicating that he is over there."

"Oh well, I'm sure it wasn't anything" replied Rubble before diving back into his bowl of food.

Meanwhile, Skye had taken advantage of the landing to pin her boyfriend down on his back and was now glaring into his eyes. "Ok, I did my part, now tell me everything you know!"

Chase's eyes widened in mock fear, "I swear, I don't know anything!"

"Oh really?" Skye said with an evil glint in her eyes. "Then I'll just have to resort to torture to get it out of you" she continued before leaning down and nibbling his neck up to the base of his ear.

Chase let out a soft moan of enjoyment, "do your worst beautiful!"

Skye pressed herself down onto Chase, moving her muzzle over and giving him a passionate kiss along with a swipe of her tongue across his lips. Chase opened his mouth to accommodate her but felt only air. He looked up in surprise to see Skye sitting on his chest smirking at him. "If you ever want to feel these lips on you again," Skye gravely said, "you'll sign like a canary!"

"Eek, ah, ok," Chase quickly surrendered, "no need to break out the weapons of world destruction!"

Skye smiled in triumph as she laid her head back down on Chase's chest. Chase wrapped his paws around his girlfriend and softly started to whisper in her ear…

Little did anyone know, there was trouble in the sky to the west of Adventure Bay. "Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, this is STARDUST 421 declaring an emergency, 100 miles west of Adventure Bay, altitude 30,000 feet and decreasing, we have a ruptured fuel tank and will not be able to make the runway, over!"

"This is Adventure Bay Tower, roger emergency STARDUST 421, can you make it to the bay, over?"

"STARDUST 421, affirmative, just barely, over"

"Adventure Bay Tower, roger, activating emergency response plan, please continue to advise of your status, over."

Meanwhile, Everest had reached the top of the lookout. She slowly stepped out of the elevator, looking around to see if anyone was there. She saw a small table lit by candle light just outside the doorway. Next to the table, was a familiar silhouette, staring up at the stars. A silhouette she would know anywhere, the silhouette of a certain handsome dalmatian.

Everest's heart felt like it was skipping every other beat as she slowly walked toward the table and the waiting pup. She felt hope soaring through her as she approached. "Marshall?" she whispered softly and her eyes widened as the dalmatian turned toward her...

CINDER!
