"Ron, we need to start making the pasta or else it won't be done when the kids come home." Neville said to his husband, who was busy looking over his students' charms tests.

"I know, I know. Just need to finish grading these and I'll be there."

Neville came from behind and wrapped his arms around Ron's waist and kissed the back of his neck. "You know, if you want we can grade papers together after we make dinner for Alice and Gideon." Ron chuckled but got up to help Neville make pasta for their kids.

Alice and Gideon were two twins that they'd adopted after the war. They were seven years old now and going to Muggle school, since both of them wanted to let their kids experience Muggle life and learn things they wouldn't learn at Hogwarts, like maths.

Both Neville and Ron have been working for a while at Hogwarts now, nearly around three years. Since the war a lot of their old teachers had retired, including Professor Sprout and Professor Flitwick. It hadn't surprised anyone when they chose Neville to be the new herbology professor, given his adroitness around anything green. It was rather a shock, however, when Ron not only applied for the position of Charms Professor, but actually got it, but they were both delighted that they could work together.

"So while the water is boiling, you wanna make salad or..?"

Neville pulled out a chopping board and a knife. "Bring the vegetables and then go set the table please."

"Yes sir," Ron said with a mock salute, laughing as he did as Neville asked. They made the salad and set the table in comfortable silence and before they knew it, the water was boiling.

"Now for the fun part," said Ron, rushing over to open the pasta bag.

Neville shook his head, with an up tilt of his mouth, "We have very different definitions of fun."

Ron looked at him in fake bewilderment.

"What, pray tell, isn't fun about pouring pasta into a pot of boiling water?"

"Said boiling water splashing on you," Neville replied dryly.

Ron opened his mouth to retort but was cut short by the scalding water spattering onto his skin. "Owww!"

"Told you."

"It burns," Ron hissed.

"Be more careful next time," Neville said while getting out a rag and running it under the cold water tap.

"It burns" Ron scowled, this time with clear over-emphasis . "It burns, and your husband is about to perish out of sheer agony and you're standing there like a stone-hearted monster."

Neville, smirked, rolling his eyes. "Sure I am," he said as he placed the damp rag on the burn, muttering something that sounded suspiciously along the lines of "drama queen" under his breath as he walked over to rummage through the medicine cabinet for burn cream.

"I heard that!" Ron shouted from the kitchen.

"It's true though!"

"Is not!"

Neville chuckled as he ever so tenderly stroked the red spot on Ron's arm.

"Does it still hurt?" Neville asked, his tone light yet gentle.

"A bit," Ron said. "Nothing a kiss won't fix though," he added, half joking.

Neville grinned but pulled his husband's wrist towards him and kissed along the pulsing veins.

"Better?"

"Much better."

"Good 'cause we still have some pasta to make!" said Neville as he headed back to check on the said pasta.

Having drained the water, they placed the pasta in a bowl, mixing it with creamy white sauce and vegetables before bringing it to the table.

They went back to grade Neville's papers, but got ever so slightly distracted by each other's mouths, until they heard the door unlock.

Alice and Gideon strode inside inside, taking off their shoes and backpacks in the hallway before rushing inside with a clatter

"Hey dad, hey daddy!" Alice said as ran up to hug her fathers.
"What smells so good?" Gideon asked, already sitting demurely at the head of the table.

"We made pasta," Ron said, picking up Alice and placing her on the chair next to Gideon. "Now why don't we eat and then we watch a movie together?" he said, looking over at Neville with puppy dog eyes.

"Please daddy! Can we watch a movie?" Gideon asked, Alice nodding her head furiously behind him.

"Fiiiiine. We can watch one movie. But then it's off to bed with the lot of you." he said, trying and failing to hide his smile.

"Thanks daddy!" said Alice, before swallowing down another ravenous bite of her pasta.

"Yeah… thanks daddy," Ron whispered to Neville, the smirk so palpable in his voice that Neville didn't even have to look to see if it was there. Neville groaned, blushing a rather vivid scarlet as Ron shook with silent cackles of laughter.

Their kids looked at them as if they'd gone round the bend. And honestly? Neville couldn't blame them.

But he wouldn't have it any other way.
