While Loki got ready to inform the Asgardians what had happened to their King when Thanos made the blip happen, Valkyrie headed to the house to get changed from the fight, but after what happened in Wakanda, thinking of what Thor had said to her.

"you're the queen of New Asgard, Val!" Those were the last words he said to her before he vanished into dust along with Wanda and a load of others. She looked around the bedroom sadly, seeing everything that reminded her of him.

Valkyrie sat on the bed quietly as she processed her thoughts while forcing back tears "why did it have to be you?…" she asked herself as she wished she was the one to get blipped in his place then she'd know he was at least safe until she came back.

A few minutes after she got changed into something comfier she heard Loki knock on the door to see if she was alright after earlier on the battlefield, before answering the door she wiped any traces of tears that stained her face not wanting to show she had been crying.

"Hey… are you doing okay after earlier?" Loki asked as he entered the room quietly, even though he knew it was a dumb question seeing the look on his friend's face. Valkyrie didn't look at him as she stayed silent for a few moments as an answer to the God of Mischief question "if you try anything to cheer me up… um I'm gonna hit you in the head with a peanut butter sandwich… and then probably a punch" she told him as she glanced up sadly with a faint smile which faded quickly, the tone in her voice saying everything as tears formed despite holding them back.

"I can't do this… this whole ruler thing it isn't me…" through a sigh, Valkyrie continued as she hid in her hands, "it should've been me! Then Thor would still be here then I know he'd be alright and safe!" Loki hesitated hearing this, feeling the same sadness she was feeling wishing the same thing on himself but he didn't know how to comfort her, knowing it wasn't the best idea when Valkyrie was in some sort of mood

"Val don't say that…-"

"What do you want me to say? That everything's gonna be fine for who knows how long! finding Thanos and killing him will be easy! Do you rant me to say that, Loki… because we both know it wouldn't be true!" Valkyrie suddenly spoke up, her frustration, anger, sadness and everything she felt bursting out into something she didn't mean to say meanly.

Loki fell silent at this, feeling slightly hurt at what she said even though she didn't mean it in the way it came out, but he didn't leave her side, wanting to at least try to comfort her the best he could.

"Loki, I'm sorry… i… I didn't mean it to come out like that…" Valkyrie began glancing up at him again, trying to hide her tears and sadness. "I thought I found something about what happened with Hela all those years ago, and I did when I met you guys, but… it should've been me who turned to dust… not you or Thor… me…"

Silence fell in between the two as Valkyrie said this. She curled up on the bed in silence as she held tears back, thinking of the space that would be beside her tonight. Loki looked down having no clue what to say, he sighed as he got up from the bed "if you need anything… I'll be downstairs okay?..." he told her softly as she nodded quietly before he left the room, having to lean against the wall as he struggled to hold his tears at the thought of his brother not being here.

After Loki had left the room thinking was away from the door Valkyrie finally let soft tears fall down her cheeks keeping quiet so nobody would know she was upset, she looked over at a photo of her and Thor after they had barely settled on earth after Asgard was destroyed, this made her tear up more and spoke to herself.

"We will… stop Thanos… Thor… I promise we'll bring you and everyone else back!" After she said this, Valkyrie shuffled over to the pillows and tried to get some sleep for a while, but she struggled to know Thor was missing from her side.

A few hours later Loki came upstairs, sighing quietly as he looked at his brother's room knocking on the door gently, going inside after not hearing an answer, he poked his head around the door slightly as his eyes saddened at the sight he saw. Valkyrie had fallen asleep after everything that had happened recently.

"Val…" he spoke softly, hesitating as she woke up with fright as if she was having a nightmare. He instantly rushed over to her and sat next to her, trying to calm her down. "hey, hey, hey, hey… you're alright… it's alright it was just a bad dream…" Valkyrie looked up at him, her eyes full of fear as she looked around the room then back at Loki suddenly speaking, her voice shaking as she did.

"Where's Thanos?..." Loki looked at her confused at this "what… Thanos?... I… we don't know- Valkyrie it was just a nightmare… sadly it has already happened" he gestured her into a comforting hug unsure whether she took it but to his surprise she did.

Valkyrie hid in the God of Mischief as he hugged her tightly, she still forced tears back but Loki felt her trembling and his eyes saddened more at this "it's okay… we'll find Thanos and we will kill him… we'll bring Thor and everyone else who was blipped back… Val I promise!"

In the meantime, the Asgardian only said a few words as she barely calmed herself down. In the end, the two pulled away, but the silence felt strange with only two of them there until Valkyrie suddenly ended it. It's difficult to admit, but I blame myself for what happened... I lost everyone before to Hela and..." Valkyrie began shaking as she spoke "Despite what happened on the ship with Thanos attacking... I wished I could stay..."

"Valkyrie, that wasn't your fault… plus we both know Thor didn't get hurt by Thanos when he attacked and it's a good thing you left… you wouldn't have liked what you would've seen. Trust me…"

"You mean you tricking that purple douchebag into thinking he killed you?" Valkyrie asked with a slightly joking tone, smiling faintly as they both managed a laugh. "it wouldn't be the first time I've died in some situation like that" Loki explained through a saddened laugh at the thought soon letting his smile fade realizing Thor didn't know he was alive then glanced at Valkyrie sadly "how long do you think it'll be before we bring everyone back?..." he asked.

Valkyrie hesitated at this "I… I'm not sure, hopefully not too long…" she replied "but I hope soon because there's no way in the name of Asgard that I can rule this place even with help… I don't know what to do" she told him with panic in her voice "but I don't wanna let Thor down… that's what I'm afraid of"

"Val, you fought against Hela and we defeated her! Thor wouldn't have put you in charge of New Asgard if he didn't think you could do this… and speeches were also his thing, so you may need to help me out with this. " He smiled as he got another laugh out of her.

"Speeches are more of Cap's thing… but Thor knew how to calm us down when we wanted to kill each other…"

"Why do I feel that's going to be a common thing for us while he isn't here…" Loki jokes "yea that might be a common thing" Valkyrie agreed as she shuffled to the side of the bed next to the God of Mischief sighing quietly "come on there're some leftovers downstairs and you need something to eat since you kinda… missed dinner"

"How long was I asleep?…" she asked softly as she tried to wake herself not remembering anything from a few hours ago "from the sounds of it almost all day Val… you're the ruler now-" Valkyrie rolled her eyes slightly at Loki reminding her once again but smiled faintly.

"I'm… not actually that hungry…" she lied despite her stomach saying it all by growling in protest. "okay maybe a little hungry…" she smiled a little again but let it fade, knowing he didn't believe her. Valkyrie eventually got up off the bed and opened the wardrobe, hesitating, almost forgetting Thor's things were placed beside hers, which meant more things reminding her of him, bringing the reminder that he wasn't there back to her.

The sadness Valkyrie felt was obvious to Loki, but he said nothing, as he did not know what to say to cheer her up. He felt bad that he couldn't bring Thor back. In silence he watched Valkyrie grab a jumper and walk downstairs as she tried to hide the tears she was once again fighting.

"Val!" Loki began, as he followed her downstairs. "Valkyrie listen! Hiding your feelings will help nothing! We can't do much to bring my brother back at the moment, but we'll-"

"figure something out?! yea Loki you keep saying that!" Valkyrie argued back, her eyes glistening with faint tears despite trying to hold them back "it's only been a few hours and I don't think I can do this!... this isn't me! And I don't need a reminder every second that I'm Asgard's ruler now!" she continued, her emotions getting the better of her "And you can't talk about me hiding my emotions what about you?! Don't think I haven't noticed when I get a drink or something from downstairs… Because trust me I notice every time!..."

"you're not on Sakaar now Val! you can't run from your problems like you used to!" there was a silence between them as Loki said, "believe me I KNOW that!" Val replied in a shaky voice "you think it's been EASY for me!? It's difficult Loki!... I-"

"Oh, come on, it's been a few hours! Thor had to do this stuff EVERYDAY! if you did more while on the battlefield he'd be RIGHT next to us trying to STOP this fight!" Valkyrie fell silent after Loki had said this, anger boiling up inside her as she thought about what she would say next, all she said was.

"choose your next words wisely! I. FOUGHT beside him in that fight against that monster! and WHERE were YOU?! I tried everything I could to beat Thanos alongside your brother and the Avengers! EVERYTHING! All I heard from where I was standing when that creep snapped was 'you should've got for the head!' then all I saw after that was dust! I barely reached him in time before he had vanished completely! What exactly was it you EXPECTED me to do?! like I said earlier… it should've been me!" Val sighed shakily once more as tears formed at the memory of Thor turning to dust before her eyes.

Silence fell between the two rulers as they looked at each other with sadness and anger before Loki snapped the silence, his anger coming with the words he spoke, despite knowing he would instantly regret them. "I believe… my brother made a mistake… choosing to be with someone like you!" he hesitated, hearing the words coming out of his mouth as he didn't think he would say them to her face.

"I didn't mean that to come out the way it did…" he quickly attempted to apologize "or at all…" the next thing Loki knew he was flying across the room landing in a bookcase. "ugh… okay I deserved that… on so many levels I deserved that!" he looked up in pain at Valkyrie who now had her dragon fang pointed at him, her face was now stained with tears running down her cheeks. "You have five seconds to take that back!" she told him with a trembling voice as she backed away, letting Loki push the sword away from him as he got up off the floor as it was replaced with Val's dagger.

"Let me explain about that… I didn't like the way it came out Val… I swear…" he told her in an almost calm voice, Valkyrie looked at him still peeved at the words he said a moment ago "what do you mean he made a mistake?… what's that supposed to mean?..."

"Val, you're angry! I understand sacrifices were made-" Loki began as he tried to calm Valkyrie down but she interrupted him "don't you dare talk to me about sacrifice Loki!... I had to watch the one I love turn to dust in front of me and it meant nothing!" Loki looked at her in slight shock, hurt by what she had said. "aha… I'm sorry you're saying you care more about my brother than I did?!" he laughed slightly hearing Valkyrie say this about his brother before continuing.

"Oh forgive my ignorance, your oh so royal sweetness. But you?! Miss "leave Thor Odinson for dead to get a beat down in a massive arena" care more about him than I do?!" Loki heated the argument once more.

"Well, from what I heard you tried to KILL him more than once!" Valkyrie argued back "and betrayed him just as much as well!"

This made Loki give in to his anger and all his emotions "you know what! you can rule by yourself for a few days oh mighty queen of Asgard! See how well you do without me!" and with that Loki simply left without saying another word, leaving Valkyrie alone in the living room with a destroyed bookshelf and anger which was still boiling. After realizing what had just happened, Loki stopped near the house, guilt and regret flooding over him, but he ignored it as he left New Asgard to calm his temper down before both he and Valkyrie did something they'd both regret.

Through a fit of sadness and rage, Valkyrie grabbed an empty bottle and threw it across the room, falling onto the sofa as she heard the glass smash. "UGH!" She laid there for just an hour as she finally let tears fall onto the pillow. After she calmed down as much as she could, she distracted herself from everything. Thor. Asgard and especially Loki.

Asgard's queen walked around the small kingdom, sadly thinking about the events that had happened in what seemed like a few days close to a week, she looked up to the sky as she talked to herself whilst referring to Thor. "everything a mess… Why did you have to ask me to rule… I need you here by my side…" Valkyrie smiled faintly before continuing her walk around the kingdom, doing any small duties that she needed to. Finally, she could take a much-needed break as the night set. She decided she'd go to the city for a drink instead, as Asgard reminded her of Thor in so many ways that she could imagine.

Whilst on her break Valkyrie wore her hair in a loose braid that fell down her back, a black hoodie with the logo of the Broadway show Hamilton with a plain white t-shirt underneath and light blue crop leggings. She hoped there were no news crews around, so she could just take a break from being the queen of Asgard. Valkyrie stopped at a nearby bar that was across the road from Hamilton. She smiled faintly, tempted, but she decided to just go to the bar today.

Valkyrie looked around the busy building. It was darkened but not in a creepy way but in a way that she felt familiar with, true it reminded her of Thor but not as much as Asgard did. The bar wasn't as busy as it usually would be with half the planet's population being turned to dust, but there was one person she could relate to who sat at the bar quietly. Dr Jane Foster. Val hadn't met Jane yet but heard things about her from Loki, from where Valkyrie was standing. Jane looked as sad as she did because just like her and Loki, she had also lost someone during the chaos of the blip.

Valkyrie quietly walked over to Jane, sensing her sadness. "Hey… is anyone sitting here?" she asked as Jane glanced up sadly with a quiet sigh. "no… not unless everyone's return from being dust" she joked as she looked at Valkyrie sadly "we're working on it ha" Val replied then sighed as she continued. "i-I lost someone close to me in the blip but everything at home reminds me he isn't here to rule Asgard beside me. " Jane suddenly realized who Valkyrie was and who she was talking about. "Wait, a second. Are you saying you're from Asgard? So is… Thor okay?" she asked, despite already knowing the answer to her question.

Jane looked at Valkyrie in slight surprise and shock, not knowing what to say for the next couple of minutes. "oh uh… I'm Jane… I knew Thor for a while but we ended up drifting apart before any of this happened or more or less just before Thanos happened" Val nodded as an understanding at this "Valkyrie or Val" she sighed as she spoke "I saw him turn to dust right in front of me and I couldn't do anything to stop it" she explained, her voice choking up as she spoke. "It's like… I watched the one I loved just turn to dust in front of me and it meant nothing." Jane listened sadly at this as she grabbed them both a drink as they talked.

"Listen, I know what you're going through Val… uh ha I lost someone close to me as well we were friends for so long but then after Thor and I drifted apart… Darcy and I, well we were closer than before ha then Thanos happened and she was amongst those who blipped and now all I want is for her to come back"

"Jane, I promise you we're going to bring everyone back… myself and Loki are helping the Avengers bring everyone back! And we won't stop until Thanos is defeated!" A few moments later, the girls had finished their drinks and left the bar. "To think this place was the busiest place in the city," Valkyrie said softly as she looked around the almost naked streets of the greatest city in the world. "I can't even watch a show since most of the ones I usually watch are closed at the minute," she continued, looking up at the Broadway sign that once shimmered along the rest in the city that never sleeps.

"Well, I guess I better get back to Asgard… I have the bed to myself tonight" Val spoke up, her voice soft and saddened at the thought returning, Jane gave her a sad smile at this "me to… I mean I have the science lab to myself ha… um say hi to Loki for me okay and keep me updated I'm always here if you need a break from Asgard plus it's good to have someone to talk to when everyone else has been turned to dust" Valkyrie nodded in agreement with a smile before they both headed their separate ways.

"Hey, Val… did you and Thor ever have time to tell each other how you felt?" Jane suddenly spoke up before leaving as she turned around to Valkyrie who had stopped in her tracks at being asked this question. There was silence in the already silent streets of New York City.

"No… everything happened so fast with Thor's sister Hela returning, Asgard being destroyed and then Thanos in what seemed like a few days to a week… but now-we never had time to tell each other. Jane, I thought I wouldn't be able to find anyone to be with again after I lost everyone to Hela the first time she attacked but then Thor found me on Sakaar and everything changed ha I guess while we were in space before we lost half our people to that monster I started to… like that caring lovable goofball who's supposed to be the one ruling Asgard instead of me."

Jane fell silent as Valkyrie said this, sighing quietly before replying "yea… me either at least not properly anyway… Well, Val I better head home and so should you… before Asgard wonders where you are and before Loki wonders as well"

"We're not talking right now… we had a fight about everything that's gone off and he's left me to run Asgard while we calm down so… I'm by myself either way" Valkyrie explained softly in a sad tone as she thought about the argument between her and Loki. "we said things we regretted- I said things I regret i-i just want everything to be back to normal as soon as possible…" she continued before turning away to head back to Asgard. "I'll see you later Val, okay?" Jane asked as Valkyrie nodded softly before both heading their separate ways for the night.

Valkyrie arrived back at Asgard. Everything was quiet since the kingdom was sleeping. She looked around at the house sadly, thinking about the argument with Loki hours before she left for a break. She slowly traversed the hallways, her mind finding itself trailing away from her no matter the several times she attempted to pull it back to the track she wanted it on. It traversed from her so much that she found herself in her custom throne room even before she registered it. A sigh escaped her, and she sat to continue wallowing in the comfort of resting her feet. The argument replayed in her head, the intensity of it growing as her memory of it manipulated with time.

She groaned in frustration to silence them, the loudness of the thoughts seeming to echo in the hallways. But the quietness was no better, ringing louder than ever. Believe it or not, it seemed too quiet. Sitting there usually, she expected Loki to pop out with a sarcastic comment or to come in and blow off a plan of hers and force into his own opinion or plan.

That's when she clicked on that despite her wanderings, she had seen the head or obnoxious cape of his. Nothing at all. For the first time, despite having expected to relish a Loki-free environment…it unsettled her. Having had him around to question each of her decisions, it didn't feel right. She had to shake off the overwhelming guilt that flashed over her for a moment, playing it off.

"He's probably off sulking somewhere, '' she huffed. She wanted to maintain the anger she had had at him before, but the ferocity of it had dulled down to near nothing. Guilt flooded over her as she thought about what she had said to Loki in the fight. 'I had to watch the one I love turn to dust in front of me and it meant nothing!' another sigh escaped her as the words floated around her like a headache that wouldn't leave. "why did I say that…'' she mumbled to herself softly as she leaned on the arm of her chair "maybe we should be apart for a bit… otherwise it won't end well no doubt" she continued to mumble to herself before tiredly looking at the time deciding it was time for her to get some sleep before morning arrived.

'I believe… my brother made a mistake…' Loki's words stayed with Val through the night. It kept her awake for an hour as she wondered if he was right. "What if Thor made a mistake choosing to be with me…" she sighed frustrated as she tossed and turned, the argument replaying even in her dreams for the rest of the night until she eventually woke with a fright when morning came as if she saw something else in her dream. Valkyrie looked outside slightly, faint fear in her eyes as she got out of bed to go over to the window. For the first time in a long while, she was afraid something was coming… something bigger and somehow more familiar than Thanos, but she couldn't think of what it could be.

Days passed and there was no sign of Loki anywhere on Asgard until one day Valkyrie knew exactly where the God of Mischief would be. The very place his brother was turned to dust. The forest near Wakanda! Valkyrie planned on finding him, but she worried about how he'd react after the fight. While getting ready to leave the house to find Loki, the Avengers line suddenly lit up.

"Val, we need you and Loki to meet us at Avengers tower! We've found Thanos!" Natasha's voice told her full of hope with slight worry "don't worry Nat, we'll be there soon after I find him ha I'll explain later but trust me we'll be there!" Valkyrie told the Avenger as they shared a soft smile at each other before cutting off the call. "Okay, Loki, for the love of Odin, you better be somewhere close to here!" she told herself as she walked outside looking around the kingdom of New Asgard, which was slowly getting back to normal, more or less.

Asgardians greeted their ruler as she passed them on her way to the stables. "come on bud, we have to find Loki! The Avengers need us!" Valkyrie told Aragorn as she got him ready, soon holding on as they both flew into the sky, thinking of where Loki could be. She suddenly had an idea. Wakanda. Val knew where Loki was straight away, the spot his brother had been turned to dust before her eyes. The Asgardian queen landed close to him, staying quiet for a few moments before softly speaking.

"I thought I might find you here…" she began, making Loki jump slightly, as he hadn't realized she was there. "let me guess… you're here to tell me how much you care about my brother more than I did!" Loki asked with bitterness and sarcasm in his voice.

"no… And I'm so sorry about that, Loki, I'll give you a full apology later but right now the Avengers need us!..." Loki looked up hearing Valkyrie mention the Avengers "and?" he asked standing from where he had been sitting, walking over to her "they've found Thanos! We can END this! Bring everyone back!" Val told him in a shaky, hopeful voice, her wavy hair falling over her face and shoulder. "Do you think we can make that monster bring everyone back… Val looked around. "This was the place my brother was fighting Thanos-" he suddenly fell silent, seeing the hurt look on Valkyrie's face as if forgetting she had been there.

"I know… I was there, '' Valkyrie told him as her voice shook, the memories returning once again. "Loki we need to get to Avengers Tower…" she told him before any other bad memories returned "And how do you expect us to get there… Val, we're nowhere near New York-" Loki saw the sudden grin that sneaked up onto her face as she looked over at Aragorn and then at Loki. "no… on so many levels I'm not flying on that thing!" Valkyrie had to hold in a laugh as Loki's protest "what's wrong… is the mighty God of Mischief scared of flying?..." she asked sarcastically as she smugly walked towards Aragorn, easily lifting herself onto the horse's back, then glanced over at Loki "come on… the Avengers need us!"

Loki reluctantly followed jumping on behind Valkyrie "I don't exactly have a choice… do I?" he asked as he held on and had to hear her laugh "I'll take that as a no then" Eventually they finally arrived at Avengers Tower where the team was waiting for them. Valkyrie and Loki overheard the team talking. The voice of Captain Marvel could be heard from down the hall as she walked away from the team.

"You guys take care of him and I'll bring him a Xorrian Elixir when I come back," Carol told Steve and Natasha as she walked away. "Where are you going?" Nat called after her as she stayed next to Steve. "To kill Thanos." The two Avengers shared a look as Carol said this before they walked after her.

"Hey, you know, we usually work as a team here, and between you and me, morales's a little fragile." Natasha began, stopping Carol from walking away. "we realize up there is more your territory, but this is our fight too." Steve continued.

"Do you know where he is?"

"I know people who might."

Valkyrie and Loki shared a look slightly, hearing the conversation between the Avengers. They listened as Nebula, Gamora's sister and daughter of Thanos, spoke up to tell everyone what she knew about her father's plan.

"Don't bother. I can tell you where Thanos is. Thanos spent a long time trying to perfect me. And when he worked, he talked about his great plan. Even disassembled, I wanted to please him. I'd ask 'Where would we go once his plan was complete?'. His answer was always the same: 'To the garden." Nebula explained, looking at all the Avengers, including Loki and Val, who had come further into the conversation, also hoping that this would work.

"That's cute. Thanos has a retirement plan."

"So where is he?" Valkyrie spoke up with a soft shaky tone in her voice, glancing at Steve, and then at Nebula.

"When Thanos snapped his fingers, Earth became ground zero for a power surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions. No one's ever seen anything like it… Until two days ago," Rocket told the team as a hologram of a planet pops up, with a shock wave visibly traversing the surface. "On this planet"

"Thanos is there."

"He used the stones again."

Bruce Banner suddenly spoke up while everyone looked at the hologram. "hey. hey. Hey. we'd be going short-handed, you know." he told everyone, Valkyrie stayed quiet as she listened to everyone trying to figure out a plan "look, he's still got the stones, so…" Rhodey added to the conversation.

"Val, you've been quiet… anything you wanna say?" Steve asked in a gentle voice, looking over at the queen of Asgard. Valkyrie looked back at him, and then at the group. "So let's get him… use them to bring everyone back."

"Even if there's a small chance we can undo this… I mean, we owe it to everyone who's not in this room to try."

"Thor would want us to do this…" Val spoke up once more, "but if we do, how do we know it's gonna end any differently than it did before?"

"because before you didn't have me. "

"Hey, new girl, everyone here is about that superhero life. And if you don't mind me asking, where the hell have you been all this time?" Rhodey asked Carol before she responded

"There are a lot of other planets in this universe. And unfortunately, they didn't have you guys."

Loki, who had gone to get a snack while everyone was talking, walks over to Carol from behind. She looks behind him. Loki holds his hand out similar to how his brother would, then rolled her eyes slightly as if he knew it wouldn't work then used his magic to conjure up his sceptre which suddenly flew over to him, missing Carol by inches but she didn't flinch. instead smiling up at the God of Mischief.

"I think I like this one," Loki said with a smile looking over at everyone, hearing Valkyrie's faint laugh as she heard this, then looked over at Steve "let's go get this frozen Satan on a flying pig!"

A while later, while above the ship on the way to find Thanos, Loki and Val finally had a talk after everything that had happened between them over the past few days. "Val, I'm sorry about what I said… about everything I said in that fight… Thor didn't make a mistake in choosing you to rule Asgard or to be with him… you've been doing a good job" Valkyrie glanced at him as he took a seat next to her. "even if I do not know what I'm doing… and I'm sorry too when I said it meant nothing I didn't mean the way it came out plus remember at the time Thor literally just saw you get killed by Thanos well well... he thought ha" she told him with a soft smile which faded slightly as her tiredness showed through.

"Valkyrie, you haven't slept well since the fight, have you?... I have a feeling it's about when I said Thor made a mistake-" Loki began just as he heard Rocket speak to the team "Okay, who here hasn't been to space?" Val and Loki watched as Nat, Cap, and Rhodey raised their hands to answer the question. Both let out a slight laugh. "You better not throw up on my ship!"

"Approaching jump in 3… 2… 1"

The ship jumps forward through a wormhole and everyone holds onto their seats until the ship slows down, hovering over the orbit of the planet they saw in the hologram back at the tower. Carol hovers in front of the ship as she tells the team.

"I'll head down for recon."

Loki got up and walked around listening to Nat and Steve talking to each other "this is gonna work Steve" she assured him in a hopeful voice "I know it will…" he replied as he looked at a compass he was holding with a picture of Peggy Carter "cause I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't" he finished just as Carol returned with the news on Thanos.

"No satellites, no ships, no armies, no ground defences of any kind. It's just him.

"And that's enough."

"Oh god, I really hope this works…" Valkyrie whispered to herself, her voice shook, a sigh the Asgardian warrior feared what could happen with Thanos "we'll make it work Val… I promise" Loki told her although he was feeling the same thing.

The team landed on the planet Valkyrie and grabbed her dragon fang as everyone entered Thanos's new home. Carol flies through the roof, knocking Thanos down and grabbing his neck. Bruce was next as he burst from the ground in the Hulkbuster armour, grabbing Thanos' arm that had the Infinity Gauntlet on. Soon after Valkyrie followed as she climbed over the Hulkbuster, slicing off the Infinity Gauntlet. Rhodey, Rocket and Loki join moments after aiming their weapons at Thanos's head.

Cap with Nat behind him staring murderously at Thanos, Valkyrie watches as Rocket kicks over the sliced-off Infinity Gauntlet. Everyone realized the stones were not in it.

Valkyrie and Loki shared a hesitant look. "Where are they?" Loki asked, feeling his anger boiling up at the sight he saw in front of his eyes.

"Where are the stones?" Natasha asked with a darkened look in her eyes, hearing Thanos reply, "gone! reduced to atoms!"

"what! you used them two days ago!"

Valkyrie felt her emotions getting the better of her as her face filled with rage, trying to process everything that Thanos was saying. Gone. He said the stones were gone. Was their plan on the verge of failing? She looked towards Thanos with rage, gripping her dragon fang she did the thing that Thor had told her to do before he turned to dust and before Loki or anyone else could stop her, she lifted her sword as she stepped towards Thanos, rage taking over and instantly sliced the titans head clean off his body. She fell silent, watching his body fall to the fall, blood splattering everywhere.

"Val, what did you do?" Loki asked in slight shock, not expecting her to do that. Valkyrie turned to him, her eyes still full of rage, but she calmed herself down enough to speak to him and the Avengers. "Thor said go for the head… so I went for the head!" saying nothing else, Val slowly walks out of the shed holding tears back as she did as the thoughts of Thor not returning came back to her. "Besides, it's what he would've done!"

FIVE YEARS LATER!

Loki paced up and down the house, frustrated with everything that was happening despite having gathered all the stones they had lost a team member. Natasha.

Valkyrie sighed frustrated "Loki, will you stop that! I can't think!"

"Val, what else am I supposed to do? When we're so close to bringing everyone back! Bruce snapped and it didn't work! Not everyone is back here like we planned!"

"Well, maybe it needs to be done more than once! But you pacing around is helping nothing! I want Thor back as much as you do!" They argued as all the past events caught up to them, causing the two to start a heated argument between them.

"Do you think I stayed for nothing? I could be out there bringing my brother back! Instead, I'm stuck here in Midgard with half of the planet's population MISSING! turned into DUST!"

"Alright, Loki just STOP! even if you went out there by yourself how do you plan on bringing Thor back!" we have the stones… Bruce snapped and some people came back… But it won't bring Nat back and it hasn't brought Thor back at the moment but I'm not giving up! I can't… not when we're this close to everything being back to normal…"

"Val, I swear when my brother is back I'm taking a damn break from this planet!" Loki found the conversation escalated slowly and his tone matched the tension in the air, sharpening and raising his tone. Val found her mouth ajar in shock at the sudden change in tone and she exclaimed in surprise. But Loki's added snappiness brought her own building anger in full force, impatience curled anger.

"Oh?! I'm sorry YOU need a break?!" Val huffed in resentment, taking a faulty step forward as though trying to process his statement and his audacity all at once. But Loki didn't back down, merely taking this as added fuel to his own rage, matching her processing step forward with his frustrated pacing and putting his sarcasm into full throttle at her dismay.

"oh I'm SORRY, your highness but last time I checked… offered to help YOU! Do you remember that? Huh? or were you too far deep into your entitled ass top care!?"

"I never ASKED to rule New Asgard Loki! I don't know if you noticed but I know NOTHING about ruling a kingdom!"

Val yelled back at him, the frustration in her voice showing through with slight shakiness as she became close to tears, pacing around the room trying to calm down.

"What are we going to do then?! sit here and wait until Thanos attacks again! sorry Val, but I'm DONE waiting around for a plan to be figured out! It's been five years, Val! FIVE! I'm done!"

Valkyrie looked over at Loki, hesitating, hearing what he said. "what? Loki, you said you'd help until Thor came back!…" she reminded him as he headed to the door "yea well… I'm done! You're on your own!" Loki rolled his eyes as he left the room, shutting the door hard. As he stepped outside, he was suddenly flooded with regret after everything he had just said. Valkyrie also felt a pang of guilt hit her in the face at what she said. Immediately, she went upstairs to her room to think. She slid down the side of the door, curling up, looking at a picture of herself and Thor.

"Thor, I don't know what to do anymore… I need you here to help us!" her eyes saddened as she leaned back against the door, slowly drifting off to sleep. Two hours later, she heard a knock on the door, along with Loki's voice. "Val, it's me-" he began as he thought about what he was going to say. "first… I'm so sorry about everything I said earlier… I-I didn't mean any of it. I understand if you're upset with me but… but Thor would want this, he wouldn't want us to fight like this and you know it… come on, say something-"

Valkyrie opened the door sadly as she looked up at him. She sighed quietly, letting him apologize. Loki saw the sadness in his friend's eyes. "Come on, let's take a break from this place… you need it" The two heard a noise coming from outside, seeing flashing near the window Val sighed frustratedly as they headed downstairs seeing cameras and news people outside the house. "For frick's sake, I can't deal with this now!" she told herself quietly as she reached for the door. "Val, you don't have to"

"They won't go away if I don't… plus I'm the ruler of this place so I don't exactly have much of a choice…" Valkyrie told him as she stepped out the door shielding herself from the flashing of the cameras trying to get through the crowd of cameras and news reporters.

"So not in the mood for this!" she muttered to herself as she barely pushed her way through the crowd. "And here she is, the Queen of New Asgard, heading through the crowd! We're going to get a word with her while we have a chance!" Valkyrie hesitated to overhear this "crap… aha she smiled softly at a few kids from the crowd of reporters who were experimenting with wooden swords then glanced at the cameras as they got closer to her, catching her before she escaped.

"Queen Valkyrie!-"One reporter called over to her. Val groaned softly as she was addressed with her full title. "here we go…" she mumbled softly as she turned around, folding her arms with an annoyed look. "alright but make this quick! It really isn't a good time!" she told the reporter, hoping they would take a hint.

"Have you heard anything about Thanos? Any updates on finding him and bringing everyone back?!" one asked, barely giving Val a chance to respond as questions poured in. She soon became more annoyed than she already was.

"What are Loki's powers in battle, and do you have any real powers in battle?" This is when Loki stepped in with his green magic suddenly glowing. "I assume this will answer your questions! You're going to feel it if you don't back away this second!"

"What about your powers if you have any?" The reporter asked Valkyrie, who let anger get the best of her at this point as she pointed a newly sharpened dagger at them. This soon makes them go to the next question. "Is the chaos from the blip being sorted by yourself and the Avenger?" another reporter asked as they wanted to know everything that was happening outside of New Asgard.

"The blip is slowly ending! I assure you! We have all the stones and we know they work as people have returned! Just not the ones we thought they would be…"

"Do you think any other gods aside from yourselves would feel threatened by Thanos?"

"I don't know about any other gods but let me just say this! we've faced a threat almost worse than Thanos! thanks to him, our people barely escaped this ship when we arrived here!"

"Is the time for God's over? If Thor doesn't return will Loki be the last god earth has for a long time?" This cheesed Loki off hearing one of the reporters ask if his brother wouldn't return. "Let me stop you there! Alright? Thor will return! the time for gods on earth isn't over as long as my brother and i are here!"

"your majesty… do you have any news on Thor returning and what will you do if he doesn't?"

"Is it true that you two are together? And if so how do you both feel about betraying Thor?!"

"WHAT!" Val and Loki responded at the same time as this as they gave each other a confused look. "I can tell you this now! And listen carefully because I will not be repeating this! Val and I are not together!"

"I wouldn't betray Thor! whatever you heard is wrong! and I'm not in the mood for this!"

"The reason I'm here is to help her majesty rule the kingdom until my brother returns! and let me tell all of you to make sure you listen well because she's gonna kill me after I say this! My brother loves Val more than you can imagine! and if she was in his place, he'd miss her every day!"

"we're done here!" Valkyrie told the reporters as she and Loki pushed through the crowds. "One more question… please!" the main reporter stepped forward. Val cursed under her breath but turned to face them. "Do you have any idea if the Avengers will visit at any point?"

"The Avengers… and the queen are very busy to answer more questions! As she just said, we're done here!" Loki told them as he lost patience with the Asgardians news crew. This made the reporters back down with the questions as Loki and Valkyrie finally got away from them. Val sighed, frustrated as she pushed her hair back when they were far enough from the reporters.

"It's okay, you did really well back there-"

"I bet you anything they're still there when we go back! Ugh, the first times were fine but now.. now I just want everything to more or less go back to the way it was! I don't know how Thor does it-"

"Honestly, me neither I wouldn't have the patience for it"

"Right now I DON'T have the patience for it… I just want to beat Thanos once and for all! bring everyone back!"

Valkyrie and Loki continued talking as the two friends calmed their anger… barely. Eventually, they stopped on a hill far from the house and New Asgard. "Loki, I'm sorry about everything I said earlier…" Valkyrie told him softly as they lay on the grass looking over the kingdom. "me… I didn't mean any of what I said in that fight…"

"that was barely a fight… trust me we've had way worse than that one and you haven't seen me completely lose it yet and I don't think you want to"

"aha so beheading Thanos the first time wasn't you at your worst… but I will keep that in mind next time we have an argument then…" Val laughed slightly as she stared up at the sky watching the clouds as they drifted by. "you know what Thor would've made us do whenever we have a fight" Loki continued as he remembered his brother, the thought made Val laugh again as she remembered last time "he would've made us hug it out… either that or made us talk about it when we've calmed down" she told him.

"How have you found it being the queen of New Asgard while Thor's been gone?" Valkyrie sighed softly as Loki asked her, "well… I guess it's fine… I just hope I haven't let him down plus I had no clue on how to rule anything… Loki… I don't know why he chose me…"

"As in, to be the queen of Asgard?"

"Well… that and there's just me altogether… after what happened on Sakaar- Thor could've had any girl here on earth… but he chose the one who literally sold him to the Grandmaster…The one who was running away from her past the best she could… honestly if he wasn't such a stubborn… caring and lovable douchebag I'd probably still be that way…"

Loki looked over at her softly as she said this and smiled gently "Val… my brother cares for you a lot more than you realize… especially everything that's happened first with my sister then with Thanos… he chose you for a reason… meaning he made you queen for a reason-"

Valkyrie smiled as Loki said this, holding in, laughing at his reaction after realizing what he was saying. "Oh, gods, that was such an Avenger speech… I think I've been hanging around Cap for too long!"

"Hahaha is five years too many?" Valkyrie asked sarcastically, with a gentle smile that faded as she thought. "Loki, how are we gonna tell Thor about what we had to go through to get the Soul Stone… How are we gonna tell him about Natasha?... he will not take that news well… is?"

"No… he won't take it well… They've gone through everything as a team… from fighting me, one of Starks failed suits to fighting that purple monster until she sacrificed herself for a rock… but there's no way to bring her back Val… even the snap failed to bring her back…"

"Maybe it wasn't meant to work for Nat… it could've been any of us who went after the Soul Stone… It didn't have to be Nat or Clint but either way, it wouldn't have made a difference…" Val explained softly "any of us could've done it" she continued as they watched the clouds.

"Instead, they sent us to Asgard with that racoon… To retrieve the stone Jane had in her… and yes, I know that isn't a racoon or whatever he is"

"Whatever, he still eats garbage"

"The point is Val… you had the chance to meet our mother when we went there…." Loki told her with a smile as he remembered seeing Frigga as he referred to Thor, Valkyrie returned the smile at this. "She knew we weren't from that timeline… mainly because my sisters and I were supposed to have all been killed by Hela at that point ha… or so they thought, I would've been on Sakaar back then"

"And because she was raised by witches she more or less saw us sneaking behind her a mile away but I think she would've liked you Val'' Valkyrie faintly smiled at this, then sighed quietly as she sat up for a moment "I guess we better get back to Asgard… Hopefully, the news crew isn't there. I can't deal with them right now," Val said through a slight chuckle as she and Loki stood up off the grass.

Suddenly, they heard a voice behind them. "Queen Valkyrie! you both have a message from the Avengers!" Val and Loki looked at each other as the guard said this, before the guard could say anything else Asgards rulers ran as fast as they could towards the house answering the call on the Avengers line.

"Avengers! The final fight is upon us!" Steve announced to everyone that was on the line. "we're so close to everything being the way it was," he continued, then spoke through a sigh. "our team had to sacrifice to get the stones… to bring people back who had been blipped although not all of us came back. Let's hope defeating Thanos will be the final score!"

Val thought for a moment before speaking up "we defeat Thanos… Thor and the others will come back! We can do this! this is what Natasha would've wanted to do… what she KNEW we could do!" Steve nodded with a soft smile as Valkyrie said this, and he looked around at the team. "Let's do this for Nat!" He finished his hero speech and spoke to Loki and Val. "get ready for the final fight!"

"Trust us Cap… we've been ready for five years!"

As soon as the call ended, Val instantly headed upstairs to get ready for the final fight. Half an hour later, she heard Loki's voice. "Valkyrie" Loki called from downstairs "They need us!" This was it. This was the final fight! The Avengers were so close to winning. Valkyrie looked at the picture of her and Thor again, smiling faintly at the thought of him finally returning after five years. "Val!" Valkyrie snapped out her thoughts as she heard Loki shout again, hearing him coming upstairs. Val grabbed Stormbreaker and her dragon fang as she opened the door facing the God of Mischief in his usual armour.

"Let's end this!" Val finally gathered the courage to say with a smile as they both headed outside for the fight.
