Been working on this Au for a while now, getting a concrete idea of where I wanted to go with this, I have gotten an idea. I give you my Pirate Au, not to be confused my other pirate like au War of the Seas

To escape a prison

Harumi Jade was by no means a typical princess, with a messy room and a desire to sail the seven seas, the Jade Princess was far from what the elite nobles of the Ninjago Empire envisioned their future Empress. The birds chirped, signalling the new day was upon her, with a cheery leap, Harumi was up and about.

Hoping over scattered clothing and books as she set about her morning routine. The long green dresses that decorated her wardrobe, each lined with a golden trim and decorated with red lotus flowers were all the same, leaving her choice of clothing for the day an easy choice. A knock upon her door drew her attention. Shifting around, she leapt to the door within a second's notice.

Opening the door, she greeted by a group of maids, the royal servants moving swiftly throughout her room. "Princess Harumi, how in the name of the First Master does your room end up in such a mess?" One of the maids questioned, her gaze falling to the young, adventurous princess.

Harumi allowed a small, apologetic smile, she always felt guilty that the maids had to clean up after her and the other members of the royal family. "I'm so sorry about the mess, I promise to try and keep it clean."

The maid looked unconvinced though a playful smile did line her face. "Oh, hurry up missy, your guard is waiting outside, heard a great ball was being hosted this evening, some big announcement was going to happen, and they wanted you around when they make it."

Harumi nodded, swiftly applying the makeup to her face. She turned, looking at the golden headpiece before her, the very thing that cemented her status as Ninjago's princess sat on its stand. She always took great care when handling the headpiece, legend had it that the headpiece belonged to an infamous pirate queen who worked alongside the First Master in the ancient days, eventually settling down to becoming the first Empress of a bygone empire that predated the Ninjago Empire.

While she always doubted the legend was true, that didn't mean the headpiece didn't hold sentimental value, it had been the first thing that was truly hers, that she claimed as hers during her adventures in the palace vaults.

With the headpiece in place, Harumi stepped out from the room. Her guard, the only person she trusted in the palace, Echo, stood at attention. His green garb and golden armour signified his close ties to the royal family. The man had an older brother, the first mate aboard the Destiny's Bounty, a famous vessel in the royal navy.

"Princess, the Emperor and Empress await you in the throne room." Echo was on edge, that was the first thing she gathered from his posture, the way his hand rested over the handle of his blade indicated that he was expecting trouble today. She couldn't blame him, there was always one or two troublemakers when it came to the royal ball, some entitled nobles who thought they deserved more power than they already had.

"Foregoing the usual greeting Echo, I'm hurt." Her playful smile was a bright place in the palace, besides, a light joke to lighten the mood never hurt anyone. Echo allowed his lips to twist upwards, as always, the young guard could be at ease around her, she wasn't as uptight as the other members of the family, freedom was something she valued highly, something she treasured with all her heart.

The throne room stood out amongst the many rooms of the palace, the large open space was being decorated with many tables and chairs, the majestic red carpet lined with its golden trim cleaned thoroughly by the maids. Her parents, her adopted parents, stood by the thrones. Echo came to a stop. "This is where I must leave you, Princess. Hutchins has asked that I report to him as soon as possible."

The master at arms of the royal palace was one of the many people she disliked. His strict rules surrounding the guards and where they may be at any given time irritated her greatly. Putting on a smile, she marched across the room, coming to a stop before the Emperor and Empress.

"Ah, Harumi, my daughter, I was just about to send Hutchins to find you." The Emperor turned, resting a hand upon her shoulder. "I see you're all set for the ball this evening, I expect you to be present for the announcement seeing that it concerns you."

Harumi raised an eyebrow, she always feared that one day the royals would take her life into their hands. Customs, tradition and law be dammed, if this announcement took away more of her freedom, well, she'll be taking drastic measures to ensure her freedom was kept.

She watched the Emperor and Empress turn back to discussing other matters, she had a pretty good idea as to what they were discussing: pirates, there were several big names that they wanted to take down, hang them up for all to see.

Red Shogun and Samurai X were two names often mentioned. The infamous duo were widely feared for their ruthless raids, many nobles had lost vessels to the two, citing them as the worst of the worst, disrupting business and increasing the cost of production for sea faring vessels.

Unlike the others, she admired the two, looked up to them. The two had the freedom to do as they wished, unshackled by the chains of tradition and law, of royal customs. She had always wanted to meet them, to hear their tales in person, unaltered by others.

Of course, there were other big-name pirates, Chen, Nadakhan, Krux and Acronix, Samukai and Morro. Many of them had a reputation, many of them feared for different reasons. Every time she heard something about them, it was something bad, some crime they'd committed. They were all frowned upon, branded criminals for the simple crime of having their freedom.

In the end, when the Ninjago Empire had done away with them, freedom would be a thing of the past. With her mood soured, Harumi turned away, perhaps this evening's ball might brighten her day.

The royal ball was as grand was the others she'd be in attendance, nobles from all over the Ninjago Empire attended, some seeking power, others seeking alliances while a rare few simply came to enjoy themselves and see the fruits of their labour. Harumi stood silently, Echo keeping his gaze focused on the crowd before them. He was part of the honour guard escorting her and her adopted parents into the ball.

"Now introducing the Emperor and Empress of Ninjago and their daughter, Princess Harumi." With Hutchin's announcement, she walked, following the Emperor and Empress at a slow pace. The many nobles turned, their attention drawn to her and her adopted parents.

She noticed a few regulars, Cyrus Borg, the head of Borg Shipbuilding. Lord Ulysses Trustable, one of the many figures she disliked for his view on the world. One that was shared by her adopted parents, which, much to her annoyance, made him a common sight at the royal place.

Of course, the strange sight was the elderly Misako and her son, Lloyd. She knew Lloyd's mother was a noble, but most nobles rarely brought their children to the balls, this sent red flags through her mind, the Emperor and Empress wished to make an announcement that evening. Her eyes went wide, horror overtaking her as she realised just what the announcement was about, though she prayed she was wrong. Quickly, she pulled her mask over, putting on a bright smile, she moved, standing by her adopted parents as they talked with the elite around them.

"My daughter, this is Lloyd Garmadon, captain of the Destiny's Bounty, son of Misako Garmadon." Her adopted father spoke, introducing her to son of the infamous Lord Garmadon. She never really understood how Lloyd and his mother managed to make it high in he Ninjago Empire, considering their father once ruled a mighty pirate empire as Pirate King, she threw that up to their connections with Wu.

"Princess Harumi, it's an honour to meet you." Lloyd was old, older than her by tens years at the most. As with tradition, the son of Garmadon bowed before her. She always felt insulted when others bowed to her, it was a blow to her pride that others would consider themselves her lesser.

"Captain Lloyd, I have heard a great many things about you and your vessel." It was no lie, she had heard many things, his time combating pirates on the sevens seas was spoken about, many held him in high regard for his efforts in eliminating every pirate out there, yet speaking about him in high regard was wrong considering what he had done in the past.

Her chest clenched as her adopted father turned to face her. "After many talks with Lady Misako, we have come to an agreement. One that will help shape the future of the Ninjago Empire with change." She held her breath as the Emperor nodded to Hutchins, the master at arms signalling to a few guards across the hall.

A loud bang echoed as a gong was sounded, the crowd turning their attention towards the royal family. Harumi felt herself forcing a smile, a mask that she so desperately wanted to drop. She wasn't looking forward to what was about to come, what was about to be said. She knew what was coming. She hated it, she dreaded what was to come forth, to be public knowledge so soon.

"I thank you all for coming, for attending this year's royal ball. This year, however, is a grand occasion, for it is with great pride and joy that I announced the betrothment of my daughter, Harumi Jade and Lloyd Garmadon for a secure future of the Ninjago Empire."

Harumi turned her head, doing her very best to keep her mask in place, this wasn't what she wanted, this was betraying her trust, taking away her freedom. Tradition could be thrown out the window for all she cared.

She needed to get away, process her thoughts before her head exploded. The insistent chatting around her, of the nobles sending their congratulations, many talking about how Lloyd would be able to tamper her adventurous nature. It was clear that everyone here held Lloyd in high regard, no doubt because of his heavy focus on helping improve the Ninjago Empire.

"I think I need some air." She muttered, loud enough for Echo to hear. She needed to escape this mess, the gardens out back would be perfect, not only were they isolated, they offered a sense of tranquillity.

She was ever grateful for Echo, the young guard was ever quick to drop what he was doing to help her when needed. The guard moved, bowing before the Emperor and Empress. "My Emperor, allow me to escort the Princess to the private gardens so that she may process this revelation in private."

The Emperor of Ninjago nodded, a single eye glancing over to her. "I suppose that would be fair, a little bit of fresh air to help calm one's thoughts never harmed anyone. You may escort her into the gardens, I will dispatch Hutchins to retrieve you both later."

The private gardens were filled with a variety of rare trees and flowers. The tranquillity the gardens offered allowed her a sense of freedom she rarely got in the palace. Harumi moved swiftly, collapsing onto the bench sitting at the centre of the gardens.

Off all the people her parents had to hand her off to, it had to be Lloyd. Like always, they were prioritising the Ninjago Empire over her own happiness. Ever since she'd been taken in by the royal family, she'd always been second, always been hidden away from the public unless it suited the Emperor and Empress.

Her fists clenched, but Lloyd, he may be well liked by the others, but she hated him, despised him enough that she'd happily stab him in the back, murder him in his sleep. She sighed, leaning back on the bench, her life was spiralling out of her control, her freedom being sapped by those around her.

Once more, the greedy elite were taking everything from her. She closed her eyes, taking deep breaths as she cleared her mind. She remembered a plan she'd made with Echo, in the event that her life, her freedom was taken from her. "Echo, remember that plan we made years ago."

"You mean the one where we ran away, got you out of the Ninjago Empire?"

She nodded in response to his question, that plan that would result in her just vanishing completely from the Ninjago Empire. "I need to vanish, we need to vanish." Harumi rose from her chair, glancing back at her trusted guard. "Tonight, we take off."

Harumi wore her cloak, wrapping it tightly around herself. The docks were far from the royal palace, far from the saftey she'd enjoyed for so long, but tonight had been the final nail in the coffin. Tonight was the night she escaped her prison, Echo had been a good friend in her years, and she was glad that he'd be going with her.

She followed Echo, the royal guard had also taken to wearing a cloak, though man also wore simple clothing to help hide his identity, they both did. That didn't mean she hadn't brought items either, her golden headpiece sat upon her face, covered by the hood she wore. In addition, her royal rapier was by her side.

She came to a halt, Echo discussing something with a man clad in orange and green clothing. The rice hat he wore hid his fiery orange hair. A merchant of sorts, if his vessel was anything go by. "I hear you fellas are looking for transport out of the Ninjago Empire?"

"If it isn't any trouble, we seek to leave tonight." She'd let Echo handle the talking, as he'd made clear, her voice was well known, but his wasn't. No one knew Echo outside of his family or the royal guards.

"Looking to get out of trouble are we?" The man questioned, tilting his head ever so slightly to the left as a group of soldiers marched through the docks, no doubt on their nightly patrol. "It'll cost you."

"I'll pay you double if we leave now." Echo's words were whispered, enough for her and the man to hear alone.

It seemed to have caught the man's attention as his head peaked up slightly, allowing her to see his face slightly. He was old, a grizzled veteran of the seven seas, one of his eyes was missing, replaced with a patch of cloth. "You've got yourself a ship, but I'm only going as far as Stixx, any further and we'll be in Red Shogun and Samurai X's territory, and I don't fancy coming face to face with the people I owe a debt to."

Harumi noted that this man had crossed Red Shogun's path before, and it hadn't ended well for him. "Names Ronin and this is here is my pride and joy, Rex." Harumi gave the vessel a once over, lightly armed and relatively small, it was no doubt a small frigate by the look of things.

"Come, we had best leave before whatever trouble your running from finds you." She nodded, following Ronin up the plank onto the seafaring vessel. The crates of cargo and riches being loaded on the ship were pushed with some being taken down below deck.

"There wouldn't happen to be a place we can rest, would there?" Echo questioned, stepped ahead of her.

Ronin turned, his gaze flickering between her and Echo. "Below deck is where the crew sleeps, I'll show you." Below deck, lines of beds and crates littered length of the vessel. Members of Ronin's crew walked back and forth hauling crates around, making room for more cargo. "Here, not the most comfortable of places, but it's the best I can do."

Harumi nodded, settling down, allowing herself to nod of to sleep, the next day was going to busy, but she had a plan, and she hoped that in the end, everything would fall into place.

I'll tell you all now, this is the first time I've ever touched Echo Zane(Yes, Echo is Echo Zane here), and well, I'll admit, I'm still not entirely sure where I want his arc in this to end, like, do I kill him or I let him live? That's the question puzzling me right now

While all Nindroids will be human, Serpentine, Skeletons and Ghosts still exist, as do Dragons and Oni, though I'll get to them at a later date.
