In the midst of capturing a magical creature, Merlin is transported to a world where Camelot is home to thousands of magic-users. Merlin plans to get back to his own reality. To do that, however, he must get inside the castle. The only way in is to pass the Apprentice Exam and be an apprentice to a magic-user inside Camelot court. Should be easy...right? After learning that Morgana's bane is a sorcerer named Emrys, Arthur announces to the entire kingdom that he and Emrys are allies, in a bluff move to keep Morgana and her gathering forces at bay. Merlin does his best to clean up Arthur's mess, because unfortunately that's his job.

Lancelot is bitten by a magical snake and slowly starts turning to stone.

As Merlin struggles to keep Arthur and the knights safe from a secret society of Druids, he discovers that his secret does more harm than good for himself and those around him. How will Arthur react when Merlin is forced to tell him of his magic? If there is one solid theme in Merlin other than heartache, it is difficult situations typically begin falling out of control fast.
