I think it's time for me to come out and admit it: this story is dead.

And it hurts a bit to admit it both to myself and to you, since this was my first 'big' fic. I spent all of the last summer working on it.

But then, chapter 25 just didn't want to come together, and I have issues with discipline when it comes to writing (and pretty much everything else), so I never managed to just sit down and power through it.

Then school started, and it just made me constantly frustrated, and I with my main creative hour being 11 PM, my writing just stopped, basically.

You can see, that during the school year, all I did was rewrite the first three chapters of A Broken World, and that took months to accomplish. Not becuase I spent so much time writing, but because I spent so much time convicing myself to start writing.

Ideas didn't slow down though. Even back last summer, I already had a promising one: 'normal hero doppo' as I called it, in which Doppo is born a year earlier, so he enters UA and becoems a part of the class between Izuku and Mirio.

It would have had a full class comprised of original characters, in this summer I even wrote the first three chapters.

Then, I realized that I was just unhappy with MHA's wordbuilding in general. It wasn't very well documented, and the parts that were there were sometimes illogical.

It was also around the start of the summer that I started reading Worm fanfiction (and the real thing too), and after a while I just realized that I could change my story's setting to Worm, and it would fit a lot better.

That's my current story, Adrenaline Overdrive. I guess you could call it the 'rewrite', since that was the original intention of it.

Still, maybe you really liked this story, with its own plot, so even if I don't finish it, I'll tell you how I would have:

In chapter 25 and 26, there would have been a confrontation between Corrosive, Doppo, Kimiko and Parasite.

Parasite's ability was breaking off a part of his soul, and then sending it out through eye contact to the body of another person. Through a mental battle, he would take control of their bodies.

He would have entered Doppo's mind, which would have caused Doppo's body to lose control. Meanwhile, in his mind, he and Parasite would have fought on the platform that he dreamt he stood on his visits into the Void. The fight would have ended with Parasite falling off, and being swalloved.

After that, I would have just followed canon with adjusments until the War arc. When Shigaraki woke up, Doppo, who at this point went down to 50% control to help himself fight faster, would see this as the opportunity to get rid of him, and he would rush him down, except Shigaraki takes his quirk just as Doppo is about to stab his heart.

So, Doppo's quirk is taken, and he literally dies without it, right there.

He describes dying as 'falling', and he goes on a black path towards the afterlife. At its door, he meets Nana Shimura, who tells him what the essence of a hero is, and he realizes that he can still go back, through his quirk.

He wakes up in the Void world, where he needed to convince the first four Void users to join him in taking control of it.

The first user was an old man, who lived through the dawn of quirks, and was afraid to use his own. He could create void from any shadow, but he could barely control it.

The second user was a lawyer, from the start of heroics, who could use the Void's fear generating properties, to invalidate testimonies against her brother, who was a villain.

The third user couldn't use the void, but she heard 'the truth', and was driven insane.

The fourth user's quirk was a kind of 'prototype Doppo', in which his blood was replaced with void. After he rampaged through his village in Siberia, he was captured by the government, where he was kept in captivity for 80 years, his body not aging due to his quirk. Eventually he tried to break out but failed and was killed in the attempt.

Doppo manages to get them to all agree to work with him, and they sacrifice their souls to bend the Void to their will, which lets Doppo take complete control over it.

Meanwhile in the real world, Tomura enjoyed the regeneration afforded by Doppo's quirk, and he decides to storm UA to show the people how fragile hero society is.

He uses a massive bomb to take down most of the buildings, and then he flies down himself, only to be opposed by all the UA students who refused to leave the school.

They fight, but they can barely injure Tomura.

It looks like all is lost, when Tomura's skin begins cracking, he freaks out, and from him grows a giant body of void, so great that it covers even the sky, and the people can only see two white glowing eyes in the darkness, and they hear:

"Do not despair, mortals, for I am here."

After which basically everything is solved.

Yay!

So, this was how the original was supposed to end.

And it probably won't ever reach that end, but its fine. I remember reading that you shouldn't start a longfic at the start of your writing, and then scoffing, thinking myself better.

I hope that this following fall I'll still manage to write some, and not just drop off the grid for months.

I think I said everything I wanted, so, well, thanks for reading I guess.
