After the mess with the Caretaker, the abducted crewmen, the destroyed array, and the revelation that they faced a very, very long journey home, how did Janeway come to "invite" (her words to Tom Paris) Chakotay and the Maquis to stay aboard Voyager? A missing extended scene from the pilot, "Caretaker", in which the two captains hunker down and negotiate terms.

Back in the Alpha Quadrant, Chakotay follows Kathryn to Paris in order to set things right. Just a little vignette based on a piece of fanart. Enjoy.

Her cheek presses against his warm chest, and under her ear his heart thrums, and she loses all fear in the circle of his embrace. " Fluff. No angst (unusual for me) and rated M, so heed the warning.

"He allows himself, for a second which is criminal and will rend a part of him to pieces, to imagine children with her. A ripeness of life which is not theirs to have. To imagine a life. Then he shuts it down instantly because dwelling on it is a murderous, ripping sensation. " Chakotay reflects on things they'll never get to have.

The doctor arrives at a morning briefing with his newest creation. How do his colleagues react? Pure silliness.
