A rewrite to the story of the first RWBY game that came out: RWBY: Grimm Eclipse.
After stopping the White Fang from their plan to invade the city with Grimm, Team RWBY decides to enjoy and relax during the upcoming festivity in Vale, the Grimm Eclipse, a traditional cultural festivity that is celebrated in Vale every 5 years.
Nothing is ever easy for the girls, Grimm Activity increases and the festival is at the edge of getting canceled, is up to the girls to prevent it, but after the Mountain Glenn chaos they learned one thing; They can't do this alone, can they?

Hello, this is Rookie. You might know me, you might not know me, does it matters? Nah, what matters is that I'm going to write my first ever serious RWBY Fanfic, I've written a few in the past, but honestly, they were not really good... I know I've improved and I want to challenge myself, this time writing RWBY.
I know the series does not have the best writing, and honestly, it surprises me how they can mess up certain things, I'm not an expert but if I want to be, I still have to keep learning, and what better way than trying writting one of their games? The premise is simple, yet fails miserably in a lot of aspects... For that reason, I decided that maybe, Maybe I can extend it and add more details.
Look at it as an adaptation like the mangakas make to certain games like Pokemon or Persona just I'm not a mangaka I'm still a writer in training.
Anyway, this is an experiment for myself and to test the waters of how much I can handle a story like this, I already have another project and I think it's going well, but hey no harm done in trying one more right?
Anyway enough with the chit-chat, I might change the summary later on, but right now this is the best I can offer... One more thing, don't expect too much shipping out of this, Like, I will tease my favorite ones but not much else... Or maybe more than that, idk.
Long ago, legends speak of an exceptional huntsman who traveled around the world to lend his strength to people who needed it, he was strong, agile, intelligent, but most important… He was a kind soul, selfless to his life on the expend of others, always putting their lives before his own…He made friends, and enemies, and also one day, found love in one of the villages he saved from the creatures of the Grimm.
Eventually, he became a legend of his own, and his long golden hair and deep blue eyes made him recognizable to anyone who ever encountered him.
One day, he faced a threat that far exceeded his abilities…
A Wyvern, as if one Wyvern wasn't bad news already, the legends tell that this one was bigger, larger, stronger, he lived for so many years eating, destroying warriors who tried to slay the beast… And it seemed that our hero was destined to be one of those fallen warriors too.
But he didn't lose hope, it wasn't the first time a foe had him on his knees, he still had one last triumph card up his sleeve… An ocarina.
Weird? Strange? Has this noble warrior finally lost his mind? Perhaps… Or Perhaps he knew that sometimes to defeat an enemy you don't need strength… The Melody that came out of the Ocarina was enough to create curiosity in the beast, and finally, pacify it.
The Wyvern fell asleep and in an act of sacrifice, the hero provoked a collapse in their battlegrounds, piles of rocks buried both the Wyver and the Hero, the last one despite knowing certain death approached never stopped playing his Ocarina, to make sure the beast stayed sleep, that way the creature would never harm anyone else again…
The people he saved, hoped to find him alive, trying desperately to find him underneath the piles and piles of rocks but they were soon stopped… They couldn't let his sacrifice be in vain, if they disturb the beast then it'll wake up once again and all of this would've been for nothing.
They did find one thing though… His Ocarina, to honor him the people reunited every five years, the town allowed his offspring to play the ocarina, not only in their honor but also to keep the Wayver in one eternal sleep.
Or at least, that is what history says.
"Wow…" Silver eyes shinned in excitement, paying close attention to the story just told. Those eyes belong to Ruby Rose.
"My my, this is the first time I have ever seen you all paid attention without falling asleep or pretending to take notes!" Doctor Oobleck commented before taking a sip of his coffee.
Well, it's the first time you tell a history that interesting, the vast majority mentally agreed but no one dared to say.
"Besides, it's just a story, not actual recorded history, Wyverns are a myth at best, there's next to little proof of them existing" Weiss Schnee commented, let it be the Ice Queen the party pooper, yet she had a point, no one in recent history has encountered one.
"But that doesn't make them any less cool, besides legends had to start from somewhere, right?" Yang Xiao-Long added, point taken.
"Girls girls, this is not a discussion of whether or not the story is true, the important thing is that is part of Remnant culture ergo, part of history itself! As the legend says an Ocarina is played every 5 years here in Vale, and as you might know we have an upcoming festival ahead of us! Is my duty as your teacher to teach you all about history and this is not an exception! There's much to discuss!" Oobleck interrupted, as fun as a debate about the story just told sounded like they're still in class and it's far from over.
"There's more?" Blake Belladonna asked, her curiosity sparking, they all figured that was the end of the story.
"Of course there's more! because there are different versions of the story, some of them say it all of this happened during one singular event known as the Grimm Eclipse!" With the speed of lighting Doctor Oobleck began to write on the blackboard. "If you're not familiar with it, it's another legend that says that every Eclipse not only grows in strength but in intelligence as well making them more fierce and lethal than they already are! This is not just another story to the pile but also a theory, after all, it's pretty common seeing more Grimm activity during the night and in some cases, Grimm that grow in the dark tend to be far more aggressive than the ones exposed in the forests"
"So the reason why in the legend the Wyvern was described as stronger than any other was that the fight happened during an Eclipse?" Jaune Arc asked, curious if he connected the pieces right.
"Precisely! Glad to see you're paying attention Mister Arc!" Oobleck couldn't be happier, everyone in his class are actually paying attention!
Jaune felt good about himself for that.
"It's said that this was the first ever Eclipse with records where humans could see the wrath of the Grimms to their fullest, it's said that many died during that day but so far such an event never repeated itself to study it" Pushing his glasses up the professor turned to face his class again now with his diagram about the Eclipse written in the board, he moved to the left so they could take notes.
"Prof-" Pyrrha was about to raise her hand to ask a question, but Oobleck just raised an eyebrow before she could finish the sentence. "I mean, Doctor Oobleck" Pyrrha corrected herself and Oobleck seemed pleased. "This has to do with the incoming Eclipse?"
"Why yes Miss Nikos, we still don't know when it'll come yet but it's estimated to be soon, and with a festival so close we cannot rule any possibility that they might line up together, as future huntsmen and huntresses you all need to be ready for anything even if it's just a theory when it involves innocent lives as much as your own, we have to prepare you for everything" One last push to his glasses and the room went silent. Their professor was very serious about this.
"Coincidence or destiny eh?" Nora whispered for only her team and by extension Team RWBY to hear.
"Whatever it is, we should get ready, it's most likely that as students of Beacon we'll be asked to attend the festival not only to be part of it but to help with security in case of Grimm Activity" Ren answers to Nora made sense, just like Oobleck said during the event of Mountain Glenn, history is important to learn from previous mistakes and culture in general… If this so Eclipse is true, then the festival might be in danger, it'll be the first time ever in current history that they'll witness an Eclipse...
And as huntsmen and huntresses in training, it'll be their job to ensure the security of the civilians.
Both teams made sure to pay extra attention to class now.
At the same time, a group of expedition was at Emerald Forest securing the area, accompanied by Professor Port, Team CRDL was sent to take care of any close Grimm, most of them were Creeps, nothing too big but neither small.
They could take care of them with no problem! It could say that they were even showing off, Sky gave his axe a spin with born arms in a horizontally way to cut at least two of them, one jumped right from behind to attack while his guard was down but Russel intercepted it with his dodge ball move, by spinning mid-air he had enough impulse to drop kick it away from Sky and sent it right to Cardin who was expecting it with his large black mase using it as a baseball bat to hit it.
The hit was strong, it killed the Grimm instantly but just to be sure as it's corpse flew through the air, Dove landed a pair of shots with his sword-gun before it fell to the ground.
"Those were the last ones," Cardin said, while being cocky during the fight now that it was over with h had a more calm voice and acted more relaxed.
"Good! We secured this area! We can now move to the next one! Follow my lead children!" Without even giving them the chance to get a break Port began to escort them to the next perimeter to handle the Grimms.
Cardin's three teammates groaned, more work?
"Don't start complaining now, we're huntsmen in training this is our job, so quit that attitude and start moving" Cardin told his team before starting walking, the three shared a confused look before stopping their leader with a question.
"What's gotten into you?" Russel asked.
"What do you mean?" Cardin turned to see them.
"I mean, you look more… Responsible now? It's the first time you ever say something like that" Dove added.
"Not to mention you're actually doing your homework and stopped picking on Jauney-boy and his friends… Did the beat down Nikos gave us really affected you that much?" Russel insisted, scratching the back of his head.
No, it was not that, okay maybe the beating played a part but it's far more than that… Something he still hasn't told his team about.
"Drop the nickname, the name's Jaune, got it? And nothing happened… I just realized that this is no place for being a jerk, and of course neither to laze around so I suggest you stop questioning me so we can continue with our work, the sooner we end it the sooner we'll be at the dorms"
Not daring to question him further they all followed their leader. But Port was now way ahead of them, probably began rambling about another story of his youth and didn't even notice he went way ahead without them.
Just perfect, could it get any better?
Why yes, the sounds of quick footsteps arrived in their ears… Something was coming their way… Something big.
"You guys heard that…?" Cardin asked, everyone instantly went into defense mode preparing their weapons, with Sky hiding behind Dove much to the displeasure of the boy.
It was close, and it was getting closer and closer…
Cardin by pure instinct turned to the left, and from the trees and bushes a giant deathstalker jumped out
"Deathstalker!" Russel screamed
The four defended themselves from the attack with the tail that came right after the Deathstalker came out, it sent the four young men flying, Cardin hit the floor, Russel hit a tree, Sky landed on top of a tree and Dove fell right in the bushes, that did a large amount of damage, it made them lost a lot of aura as it is shown in Cardin scroll, they went from green to yellow in one blow.
"Damn…!" Cardin couldn't believe it, "What is a Deathstalker doing here!? There shouldn't be like deep in the forest!?"
"You're asking that now!?" Russel didn't care, it's here and that's what matters, it's here and it'll kill them if they don't run!
The Deathstalker roared, but instead of preparing for another attack, it decided to ignore Team CRDL and continue his path.
"It's leaving? This is our chance! Let's get out of here!" Russel insisted and immediately Sky and Dove jumped out to start running.
"Wait!" Cardin ordered, it made them stop but… They knew what this meant, his pride was hurt again, he's just going to make them fight that thing to prove a point? Just like it happened with Nikos, he got frustrated and it resulted in them losing the match.
But they had no idea, that Cardin's mind was somewhere else… The path the Deathstalker was taking… it lead right to the city of Vale, that thing was going to invade the city if they don't do something.
Lives will be lost before a huntsman or Atlas military arrives…!
But… That wouldn't necessarily need to happen, right? Not if someone stops it, not if they instead of run… They do the job they signed up for!
"We need to stop that thing before it arrives to the city!" Cardin's order not only took them by surprise, but himself too, he really said that?
"Are you crazy? Look at the damage it did to our aura! We'll die if we fight it!" Sky objected, he preferred the old run and live plan.
"At that speed, it'll arrive to the city in no time, we're the only ones who can stop it and make time before it gets into the city, our gunshots will bring Professor Port we just need to hold him off" Cardin argument, he made a solid point, but his team still refused, they didn't look so sure, this frustrated Cardin and snapped at them yelling "We're huntsmen! Not cowards so act like one dammit!"
This not only offended them but finally knocked some sense into them, as scared as they might be… He was right.
"Alright fine! But if we die it's your fault!" Dove finally agreed, preparing his sword to fight, Sky frustrated just prepared his Axe, and finally, Russel who still couldn't believe his leader and partner… But whatever, he's in for action and has the skills to back it up, he prepared his daggers and nodded.
"Good. Now don't worry I won't let you all die, I'm a team leader…And I am responsible to ensure the victory of this mission… Now get ready and charge at it dammit!" And with a battle scream Team CRDL charged in the direction of the Deathstalker, even if it's a difficult foe to beat, if that blonde dork could lead his team into defeat one, then so he can!
"And that is how I managed to beat a three-head King Taiuju with just my bare hands! Now after that… Hm? Students?" Port was rambling so much about how great he is that he missed the moment when Team CRDL stopped following him. It took him long enough to notice and finally turn around to notice their absence. "C'mon now where you four could have gone…?"
Gunshots, roars, and the sounds of explosions… What in the world?
"Dear Gods!" Realizing what that familiar roar sounded like he rushed in their direction.
When he finally arrived he saw madness! The Deathstalker had defeated two of four members of Team CRDL, Sky was on the ground, no aura left holding his right arm in pain, and Dove was unconscious on the floor with a tree on top of him, he could swear there was blood in his forehead!
Cardin was the only one, still fighting the Grimm, Cardin desperately tried to hit him with the dust on top of his maze to free Russel from one of the Deathstalker pincers, crushing him while his aura was close to dropping to zero, but no matter how much he tried, the Deathstalker didn't seem very affected by it and attacked the C of Team CRDL with its piercing, finally dropping his aura to zero and sending him flying far away.
"Do not fear, I am now here!" And immediately Port took out his reliable Blowhard to shoot the pincers, finally freeing the boy with the mojack who fell unconscious the moment he hit the ground.
"You horrible and disgraceful creature, how dare you to attack my students under my watch… Get ready because we're about to add one more story to my collection! MHAHAHA!" And he ran towards the Deathstalker ready to end its life.
Back in the academy, both Team RWBY and Team JNPR were beaten… really made them take notes of EVERYTHING, it was at another level!
"I think my hand might fall off" Jaune said holding his right hand with pain.
"Oh? To much-" Right when Yang was about to take the chance to joke about that, her partner Blake immediately interrupted her by covering her mouth.
"Don't you dare" She really wishes to NOT hear that joke.
"Oh c'mon I just wanted to lighten the mood a bit, you all look like walking zombies or something!" Yang said once Blake removed her hand.
"Lighten the mood for everyone or for you only?" Weiss's point offended Yang!
"Of course, it was for me, and of course people who appreciate good humor" Yang answered with a bright smile, then proceeded to stick her tongue out to Weiss teasing the Ice Queen.
"I don't get it, what was the joke about again?" Poor Innocent Jaune had to ask.
"Trust me, you're better off not knowing" Ruby rolled her eyes, if she knew well her sister, and she does it's better to leave it at that.
"Hey! What's going on there?" Nora pointed out, and everyone's attention shifted from whatever Yang joke was to the campus of Beacon where a lot of students were there in groups seeing one bullhead arrive.
"Wait a moment…" Ruby recognized that bullhead, these are the ones that Beacon uses to transport students to their missions, does that mean that-?
"It's Team CRDL!" Nora practically yelled once she spotted them, but they were not okay, they were all injured and beeing treated by the medical team of Beacon, taking them out in stretchers… They looked seriously wounded.
They didn't think it twice and rushed in their direction, unfortunately, they couldn't get any closer due to the great number of students that arrived before them, only the tall ones like Jaune, Pyrrha, Yang, and Ren could see without trouble, Ruby and Nora tried jumping to see, and Weiss frustrated tried to make her way closer to see, Blake in the other hand just opted to trust her Faunus ears and listen closely.
They seriously looked wounded, Port was with them, explaining the situation to the paramedics as he followed them to the emergency room. From what Blake picked from the talk, a Deathstalker was approaching the city and CRDL managed to hold it off… Wow, did they really?
Cardin noticed Jaune there, staring at them… Jaune expected him to look annoyed or something but to his surprise… He looked sad and ashamed, he covered his face with his arm refusing to meet the knight's gaze… That was unexpected, even Pyrrha picked up to that.
Both partners shared a confused look, what was that about?
"Wonder what happened to them?" Yang asked just as confused as the rest of her friends.
"Deathstalker" Blake quickly responded. Once she got the attention of both teams she continued. "Team CRDL apparently managed to hold back a Deathstalker in Emerald Forest, it was heading to the city"
"Did they now?" Yang raised an eyebrow.
"It's what professor Port said" Blake just shrugged, it's not like she made it up and they knew Blake is not the type to do that, it was just… Unbelievable?
"Guess they weren't just cowards talking big-time like we thought," Yang said, maybe she can respect them just a little, just one tiny little bit.
"Did something happen that them change their ways?" Ruby asked, to no one in particular but hoping at least one might have a theory.
"Who knows? Maybe they decided it was time to honor their titles as huntsmen in training for once" Ren responded but… Not even he was sure.
"Whatever the case was, they're alive to tell the story at least" Pyrrha wasn't so sure herself too, but for whatever reason was it a positive change for them.
Before they could continue their chat, Goodwitch surprised them. "Children"
"We didn't do anything this time!" Ruby screamed, hiding behind Yang.
Goodwitch raised an eyebrow. "I'm not here to scold you…"
"Oh. Hehe, sorry, it's a natural reaction" Ruby brightly smiled, but stayed hidden behind her sister.
"I'm here because the headmaster wishes to speak with you, so if both leaders could please follow me… There's a matter we need to discuss that involves both of your teams"
Both Jaune and Ruby shared a confused look now… Ozpin wants to speak with them both? They didn't do anything wrong but if Goodwitch said it's not to scold them… Then was is this about?
With not really having a reason to object, both nodded and followed Goodwitch to Ozpin's office leaving their teams unsure of what was going on now…They're not going to give them the job CRLD couldn't finish right…? Riiiight?
Oh who are they kidding, of course that asshole was about to do just that.
To be Continued.

Well... That was a thing.
I guess it went better than I expected for an prologue... Or well, I'm not sure, tell me what do you think about right in the comments! I'm always open to suggestions... And maybe a beta if anyone wishes to help me with that, I dunno.
Anyway this is the beggining, and as you can see I decided to take a few things of my own to link the story with the main series, it's happening after V2 but before V3, before the Vytal Festival and all that.
Grimm Eclipse needs to make sense with its name right? After all in the game there's nothing related to an eclipse, so here we go, I made some lore about it myself, not that is good but it's something!
Well that is all for today, thanks for reading!
