Edge awoke later, groggy, and laid out on a metal table, only vaguely remembering what had happened before he had passed out.

Edge ran it back through in his head: He'd been in the prison transport, when something had randomly exploded by the truck, flipping it upside down.

Yeah, that explained why his head hurt. Now, onto part 2: Why couldn't he move anything below his neck?

As his vision cleared, he spotted someone in a dark grey jumpsuit sitting in the shadows. His hands and feet appeared to be mechanical, while his eyes glowed yellow in the darkness that obscured his face. The figure placed a large helmet on his head before walking over to Edge. "Ah, yes, 'Edge,' isn't it? Former Resistance member, Wolf 6 OG...Hmm, guess we'll just ignore that bit about weapons dealing for now. Anyway! Nice to finally meet you!" Edge stared at the figure blankly. "Mm, not the chatty type? That's okay, we can work on that. Now! You're probably wondering why I faked this big leak about ECS Units to break you out of prison..."

"THAT WAS YOU!?" Edge shouted, trying to get up and strangle the guy. However, his body remained unresponsive. "Ooh, got ourselves some ANGER issues, don't we? Another issue we'll work on...You know, once you work for me."

"And why would I EVER work for you?" Edge asked, settling down from his fruitless attempts to move. The figure seemed unfazed. "Because...Hang on." From seemingly nowhere, he pulled out a spinal cord. "Okay...By the way, this isn't yours, so don't worry. Anyway, to put it in layman's terms, I have placed an implant into your spine that will prevent anything below your neck from moving if I detect any further unwillingness to serve me."

"But...Why me?" Edge asked, barely holding back his horror at his newfound situation. "Why? Because the ECS Units are mine, Edge. And anybody who does or could get in the way of my plans with them has to be dealt with in SOME way...So why not turn at least one of them into an asset?" The figure got uncomfortably close to Edge's face. "Your choice, Edgy boy. Be my loyal goon, or lie down on this table and starve to death...Though I might make you do that anyway if you take too long, it'd be VERY entertaining."

Edge closed his eyes for a moment, hoping Jack could forgive him for what he was about to agree to.

Long ago...

Jack walked into the Wolf 6 barracks as Edge packed his things. "Betcha Spike is having a field day with this, eh?" Edge joked, sadly. "The weirdest part is? I'm actually gonna miss her a bit." Jack stood silent for another minute. "...I wish it didn't have to end like this, Edge."

"Ah, nothing you could've done about it, Jack. We all knew it was coming, one way or another. The final two original Wolf 6 members...The classics, finally split apart." Edge said, putting the last thing in his bag before handing Jack an object wrapped in cloth. "Here, little something to remember me by."

Jack unwrapped the object in the cloth, revealing Edge's energy sword and its sheathe. "Edge, I can't take this."

"Ah, don't worry about it. I've got bigger and better designs planned. That thing should serve better paired with your Wispon anyway." Edge replied, before Jack got a call on his radio. "Wolf 6 leader, new mission debrief in 5." Came the voice on the other end. Jack looked back at Edge. "Stay safe, brother." Edge said with a smile, extending his fist. "You too." Jack replied, bumping Edge's fist before running off towards his next mission.
