Everything was the same.
His seat in the corner, him feeling sleepy, loud brats making unnecessary noise and Iruka trying to control the class.
But, he was feeling sleepy. So he would sleep. He could feel it, the soft hands of sleep caressing his cheeks like no one else ever did. But then again, he could not sleep. His tenant had a habit of making his life as miserable as it could, even in sleep. So Naruto made it a habit to not to sleep. Unhealthy? yes. But necessary none the less.
"Naruto, can you please tell us about the Shodai Hokage and his special abilities?"
Huh? what did he want now? Did he not know that he was trying to sleep? Did he not know that he knew the answers? Was he even trying to sleep? Did he want to sleep? He did not know.
"The Shodai hokage was Hashirama Senju, he was known as "The God Of Shinobi" due to his immense powers. He commanded the woods through his wood release kekkei genkai and..." he trailed off, realizing that this was all he knew, but he had already said "and" so he had to speak something now.
"And he had brown hair..." he finished off lamely.
A sigh escape Iruka's lips. He knew that Naruto knew the answers. Naruto was an ideal student. Well, as ideal as a shinobi in training could be. He was top of the class, never missed the academy, never talked back and learned everything quickly. But, Iruka hadn't taught him anything. His basics should not have been this solid. Yes, he regretted it, but that did not take away the mystery that Naruto was.
"Correct, Naruto. Please be a bit more involved in class." He really tried to be friendly with him, but whenever he saw his face, all he could think of was the rampage that the kyuubi had caused.
Naruto did not reply. He wanted to sleep, or at least he thought he wanted to sleep. He wasn't sure.

As soon as he left the academy, there was a bird waiting for him. He understood them. Sometimes, it was a eagle, sometimes a sparrow and sometimes an owl. He loved owls, they did not sleep at night, just like him. Given, they did sleep during the morning, but he did not care about the technicalities.
Regardless, the point was that he could talk to them. He understood. They obeyed him. They loved him. Did his mother love him? Did he have a mother? the Kyuubi had called him a monster and so did the villagers, so maybe he had no mother. But he was going off topic again, he did not like this about himself, but he was hungry, so searching for a good food stall was in order.

Searching for a good food stall was not hard. Searching for a good food stall that would serve him was a different matter though. He did not like being sneered at while he was eating so, he had to look for some decent stall now. He could not wait to learn the transformation jutsu.

Teuchi was a good man, he helped orphans, was very friendly and always looked out for his daughter. He had a soft spot for orphans, he encouraged his daughter, Ayame to befriend as many as she could, but not him. After all, he was the reason why Ayame did not have a mother. But, Teuchi was a good man, he would serve Naruto like he would serve anyone else, given his daughter was not around. He had made it very clear. Naruto should not approach if he saw his daughter around. He did not want her to be associated with him. Luckily for Naruto, Ayame was off to the academy. So, he could have some ramen and collect some toppings for the birds.

The food was awesome, like always. But now, it was time for some training. He did not like to train, but if he did not train from time to time his body would get lazy and would want to sleep more, or that's what the birds told him. His birds had a lot of knowledge, his birds could spy. They told him what to do. They knew of some jutsus, but since Naruto did not know how to make hand signs, that would have to be done later.
He started off by running up and down a tree, followed by general shinobi workout and finished with meditating for a few hours. Meditating calmed him. He did not know why the birds had told him to meditate to begin with, but he was glad that he had accepted their suggestion. It was the only time he felt at peace, well not truly since the masked guys were always watching him, but they had been with him for such a long time that he had accepted them as permanent.
Once the training was over, he fed the birds the food he had collected and took off towards his house.

AN: this is my first story, don't be hard on me lol. Do tell me what you want this story to be like since I don't have a solid plot going forwards.
And yeah, his ability to talk to birds is based on the ability of Juugo.
Until next time!
