Damn, no reviews on ch12? That sucks. So, since there were no suggestions, I went ahead and decided to start the chunin exams in this chapter.

"Kushina?" Naruto questioned, trying the sound of the voice. It sounded good... and warm. He hoped his mother loved him more than she did the village, because his father, Namikaze Minato, clearly did not.

"So, what happened to her?" Naruto questioned.

"And why should I answer that?" The Kyuubi questioned.

"Our deal was 'information of my parents' and not 'names of my parents'." Naruto said.

"Perhaps. I killed her with this nail." The Kyuubi said, raising his paw and pointing the accused nail towards him. "She liked to brag about how I was caged in the seal. But, ultimately, she was a puny little thing in front of my wrath." he continued, trying to rile up Naruto.

"I see." Naruto sighed out.

"So, no angry outbursts?" The Kyuubi asked, mockingly.

"Oh, believe me, I am angry. But, there is no point of crying over someone I have never met." Naruto said and vanished from his mind scape.

TWO DAYS AFTER THE PRELIMINARIES.

"So, sensei. Where is he? I think it is about time I take over his training." A white haired man asked. He was dressed rather uniquely. He had waist-length, spiky white hair that he tied back into a pony tail, with two shoulder-length bangs framing his face. There were red lines under his eyes which extended further down his face, going all the way to the bottom.

"Jiraiya, it has been quite a while since you have shown your face around here." The third hokage said.

"You know how it is, duty calls. You did not answer me, though." Now named Jiraiya said.

"Young Naruto is doing quite well for himself. He recently passed the preliminaries of the chunin exams. But, I am afraid you will not be able to meet him." Hiruzen said.

"And, why is that?" Jiraiya asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Hmm. Of what I remember, he has gone to the plain of his summons to train for the month." He replied.

"Summons? He was supposed to be a toad summoner, just like his father. Why would you let him sign any other contract?" Jiraiya questioned, raising his voice.

"Do not raise your voice in front of me, Jiraiya. Perhaps, if you wanted him to be a toad summoner, you should have been here to inform him of that. And, I did not offer him any contracts. He used the summoning jutsu without a contract and ended up becoming a summoner." Hiruzen said.

"You know I was busy outside the village!" Jiraiya exclaimed.

"It has been 13 years, almost 14. Have you not thought of a better excuse?" Hiruzen asked.

Jiraiya did not see any worth in staying there any longer, and disappeared in a poof of smoke.

X-X

Even in the blazing heat from the sun, the crowd did not lack enthusiasm. Chunin exams were like festivals. Shinobi and civilian alike enjoyed watching the show that was presented. And, of course, today was no exception. The ground of chunin exams was filled to the brim. Simply speaking, the vibes of excitement were overflowing.

"Uchiha Sasuke and Hyuga Neji, present yourselves in the stadium." The proctor said.

Both the genin appeared in the stadium in a swirl of leaves. The red eyes indicating the sharingan and the veins representing the byakugan. A battle to see whose eyes were superior. Both the genin were given very auspicious titles. "The prodigy of the Hyuga" and "the last loyal Uchiha" meant a lot to the people of Konoha.

"The rules are the same as the preliminaries. Anything goes once the match starts. But, I have the power to intervene and stop the match as I see fit. Understand?" The proctor asked.

"Yes." The both of them said.

"Alright then. Here we go again." he murmured. "Welcome, the citizens and visitors alike. We, the people of Konoha are honored to host the chunin exams. I hope our accommodations were up to your liking. With that said, I do not wish to delay the event of the day anymore. So, shall we start?" The proctor questioned and the crowd roared.

"Begin." He exclaimed and jump back.

Contrary to what the crowd believed, the participants did not just rush into the fight. It seemed like some verbal assaults were in order.

"I thought you will not show your self. After all, you have a habit of hiding from tragedies, Don't you?" Neji said.

"You speak a lot for a slave, how about you go and serve your masters?" Sasuke replied.

"At least I have a clan to speak of." Neji retorted.

"You think you are a part of the Hyuga? The only Hyuga are the main branch. You, my friend, are just a slave to be used and discarded." With that said, Sasuke jumped back to create some distance. Because, as confident as he was, even he would not challenge a Hyuga in a taijutsu match.

"Fire Style: Pheonix Flower Jutsu." He exclaimed.

Neji rolled out from the trajectory of the attack and rushed Sasuke to engage in a taijutsu fight. Stuck in mid air, Sasuke had no option but to bend to the taijutsu fight. As good as the gauken form which he had copied was, he was not a master at it. So, without any doubt, Sasuke got two of the tenketsu points on his hand shut in the brief taijutsu battle they had.

"Why is that sharp mouth of yours not running anymore?" Neji asked.

"Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu." Sasuke exclaimed. The fire ball was not that big. But, it did not need to be, as it was only a distraction for the shuriken behind it. Neji dodged both of them. And, through his eyes, he saw the strings attached to the shuriken, and was able to dodged the recalled shuriken too.

"These cheap tricks of yours will not work on me. These eyes of mine see beyond what you can imagine." Neji mocked.

"You throw big words around but, you haven't actually hurt me yet." Sasuke replied with a smirk.

"Not yet, I have not. But, you are already within my field of divination." Neji said as he bent down and a ying- yang symbol formed around him.

"Eight trigrams: Two Palms."

"Four Palms."

"Eight Palms."

"Sixteen palms."

"Thirty Two palms."

"Sixty four palms." Neji exclaimed as he hailed a barrage of pokes on Sasuke. With as close as Sasuke was to Neji, he could not do anything but get hit by the annoying pokes. As his attack ended, Sasuke fell on the ground.

"Call the match, proctor. He is not standing up again." Neji said, arrogantly. But, before he could say anything else, a dark purple chakra erupted from Sasuke's body and black markings started to cover his body. With three hand signs, lightning exploded from his hands. But, before he could move, a chop to the neck knocked him out.

"Ah, my apologies. It seems my student lost control. Please continue the event, I will tend to him." A white haired Jonin said.

"Due to external intervention, the winner is Hyuga Neji." The proctor said. "After 5 minutes, we will start with our next match. Nara Shikamaru and Temari of the Sand, be prepared for your match."

Contrary to the flashy entrance that Temari had presented by gliding down to the ground on her fan, Shikamaru was perfectly content in taking the stairs.

"You know of the rules, yes?" The proctor asked.

"Yeah." Temari said and Shikamaru nodded his head.

"Well then, without any further ado, lets start." The proctor said and started the match.

"You will not fall asleep, will you?" Temari questioned, looking at his sleepy face.

"Troublesome woman, why don't you start with the fight already?" Shikamaru said and retreated to the safety of trees.

"Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu." Shikamaru said and exhaled a ball of fire. It was not very big, but it did the work it was supposed to do. "Yeah, I cant use any fire style jutsu." Shikamaru murmured to himself. Why? You ask. Because true to what he had suspected, Temari was primarily a wind user, and wind was stronger against fire.

Temari had opened her fan enough to show one of the moon on it. "Wind Style: Wind Wave." She exclaimed and waved her fan in Shikamaru's direction.

"Earth Style: Hiding like a mole Jutsu." Shikamaru said and went into the ground.

Feeling a pair of hands below her, Temari quickly opened her fan fully and flew off to avoid being plunged in to the ground.

"Troublesome." Shikamaru murmured.

From up in the air, Temari waved her fully opened fan towards Shikamaru, creating a deadly gust of wind and launched it towards Shikamaru.

"Earth Style: Mud Wall." Shikamaru said, creating a wall of earth between the attack and himself.

For a while, the same thing was happening. Temari would release a gust of wind and Shikamaru would either go underground or create a wall of earth to defend himself. But, once Temari looked tired, Shikamaru created a wall of earth behind her to create a large shadow over her.

"Missing accuracy, are we?" Temari said, mocking his supposedly misplaced jutsu.

"Hardly." He scoffed. "Shadow Possession Jutsu." He said.

Since Temari was engulfed in a large shadow, she had no where to go and ended up stuck in his jutsu.

Once she was under his control, he started moving backwards and, of course, Temari followed. But, the thing was, while there was nothing behind Shikamaru, there was a wall of earth behind Temari.

"Give up or I will bash your head in the wall." Shikamaru threatened.

"Fine. I give up." Temari said.

"Winner: Nara Shikamaru."

AN: two fights for this chapter. The next ones in the next one. I have been uploading a chapter a day for a week now since my vacations were going on, but now the updates will probably slow down. Bare with me. Until next time!
