They run the prints on the woman. Turns out that she is a veteran. She served in a medical corps unit with Hoyt. He conned her into helping him by promising her marriage. It's not like he really thought that he would actually be a free man. Hoyt is smart. He knew he'd get caught. Eventually. Her name was Sophia Castillo, from Queens.
ADA Sonny Carisi walked into the Precinct and saw Jane. She actually got to meet him under normal circumstances. He asked about Maura and he commended Jane on her work. He informed her of the charges against the "nurse". She will be charged with illegal possession of a narcotic and attempted murder. The Demerol that she was trying to administer would easily have caused a pulmonary embolism in a person with a severe concussion. Jane explained to him that without Kat being on her toes and knowing her drugs, Maura might have died.
Sophia Castillo had a very clean record. She hadn't worked as a nurse since she was in the military. Her late husband sustained injuries in Iraq. She worked as a teacher because it gave her a more regular schedule to help care for him. She had an immaculate teaching record. Her students loved her. She threw everything away for Hoyt. It made no sense.
Jane pulls Olivia and Dean out of interrogation. Hoyt is chained to the table as well as leg shackles and handcuffs. He's not going anywhere. Jane wants to put Sophia in there with Hoyt to see what transpires between them. Dean warns her that things said between the two might damage the case against them. Jane knows he's right. She says that she'll sit in on the conversation so that there is no expectation of privacy. Dean doesn't want her going in there alone. She also knows that having Dean in there won't help. Jane suggests that she and Rollins go into the interrogation room, leaving Dean, Olivia and Carisi to observe.
Jane opens the door and Rollins walks in and then Jane leads Sophia through the door. Hoyt smiles when he sees Jane.
"Jane, you came back to see me. That's so nice of you. You must have missed me. And who is this beautiful lady?"
"I'm Detective Rollins. I'm just here to listen to what you have to say. You are a sick son of a bitch, by the way."
"Oh, come on Hoyt. Don't you have a better line for me than that? Who won't you hit on? Look who I brought to see you."
Sophia is sitting right across from Hoyt. She smiles at him, "Hello Charles. I've missed you. I'm sorry that they caught me. There was a stupid cop there that asked too many questions."
"You're useless. You got caught. That nullifies our agreement. You didn't kill Dr. Isles. That was our agreement. You were supposed to kill Dr. Isles. I was going to kill Jane. Now we're here again. Look what you've done to me."
Sophia is crying. She didn't mean to fail Hoyt. "Charles, sweetheart. I tried. Wait, you never loved me. It was always about her." Sophia points to Jane.
Jane runs her fingers thru her hair. Hoyt licks his lips. "Oh, Jane, I've always loved your hair. It's so beautiful, long and curly."
Rollins gets in Hoyt's face this time, "We caught you and we caught another of your accomplices, do you have anymore?" Hoyt sits silent. Sophia is silent. Rollins then decides to run her fingers thru Hoyt's hair and then across the back of his neck. Hoyt smiles at Jane.
"Oh Jane, I like this one. She's hot, like you."
Sophia has tears in her eyes. "Get me out of here. He only used me. I don't know if he had anyone other than me helping. I can't look at him anymore." Agent Dean comes in and gets Sophia.
"Oh Jane, now that she's gone, it's just the three of us. That could be fun."
Rollins is behind Hoyt, her hands on his shoulders. She looks at Jane and winks at her. Mouths 'follow my lead' to Jane.
"You know, Jane, he's been chasing you for years. Now he has you and now me right here. And, you know what, you are very attractive. I'm kinda glad he brought you to NY. I might never have met you otherwise."
Jane takes another couple of steps towards Rollins. "Thank you, Amanda. You're quite attractive too. You have beautiful eyes." Jane reaches up and touches Rollins's face. Rollins puts her hand over Jane's hand. "You know, Amanda, we could just leave Charles here and go back to my hotel."
"Hoyt, I think I'm going to leave you with Agent Dean and Captain Benson. I am not getting anywhere with you. You need to go back to prison, for a long time. I know that Maura is safe and now, well, I've met Amanda, she's pretty great, don't ya think?"
"Oh, she's hot alright and so are you. The scar on your neck. The scars on your hands. The burn scar on your chest. That's all because of me. You can't look at yourself and not think of me. I close my eyes at night and think of you Jane. Oh, Jane. It's always about you."
"Agent Dean. We're done here. I'm going back to Boston. I don't care what you do with him this time."
"Agent Dean, wait. Jane, wait. Don't go. Detective Amanda." Dean is standing in the doorway.
"Well, Charles, you aren't telling us anything, so, we're going to go..."
Rollins says as she walks behind Hoyt.
Hoyt sighs and closes his eyes. "Agent Dean, Sophia was my only accomplice. I found Maura as she was going into the morgue. I had some chloroform on a rag. I put her in a van and took her to a warehouse. Then Sophia met me and we drove to NY. She had set up some stuff at an old storefront. We were there for a few days. When I got word that you were coming to NY we moved around. That is when I found the one in Times Square. I think you know the rest. I really thought I had Jane until that guy plunged a syringe in my neck. If he hadn't have done that, Jane and I wouldn't be here."
"So, I was your target, again. This is just a game to you. You know, why didn't you just kill me when you had the chance?"
"Well, Jane, playing with you is so fun. So, before you go, and before Agent Dean takes me into formal custody, can you do me a favor?"
"What, Hoyt. Not that I really want to do anything for you, but tell me."
"Just kiss her. Once. That'll give me a new thought of you to think about."
"Oh, God, Hoyt, seriously? You want me to give you something to get off on? What will it be next time? You know what, if there is a next time, my direction to everyone is going to be shoot to kill on sight."
Jane walks over to Rollins and looks in her eyes. She puts her hand on Amanda's face and kisses her. They take a step back from each other. They both look at Hoyt. Rollins walks over to him, looks him in the eyes, "Hoyt, you're a sick fuck, you know that?"
They walk out knowing that they did what Hoyt wanted but they got the story. Jane actually believes him, based on history with him.
She thanks Rollins, "How did you know that he'd talk if we did that?" Rollins says, "I've dealt with people similar and they normally get off on that crap. You and I are quite a bit alike and I knew you'd know where I was going with it."
"Thanks. I appreciate your help on this. Captain Benson, your team is the best. The reputation holds true. I really need to get to the hospital. Oh wait, it's getting late. I should get my things from your house and find a hotel."
"Jane, you'll only be here for a couple of days. You can continue to stay with me. Besides, Noah will love to see Detective Rizzoli again. I'll give you my address so that you can get back tonight. If you decide to stay at the hospital, just call."
Olivia hands a sheet of paper with her address to Jane, along with a key to her apartment.
Jane thanks everyone at SVU and heads to the hospital.
