"Hey there, Maur. It's good to see you awake. Kat, thanks for keeping her company."

"Oh, Jane, Kat is a delight. She's so smart and we've had some great conversations."

"Dr. Isles, Detective Rizzoli, it's been my pleasure. Have you found out who the so called nurse is?"

Jane fills them both in on what happened. Maura vaguely remembers bits and pieces of the chloroform and of the move from Boston to NY.

"Kat, you are cleared to go home. Go get some sleep. I'm relieving you for the night."

"Ummm... it's anyone from the squad coming in?"

"No. I've got this. Besides, we have a protective detail. Go get some rest. I'll see you in the morning."

Kat tells them both goodbye. Maura calls her over for a hug and she shakes Jane's hand.

Jane pulls the chair closer to Maura's bed. "So, you enjoyed Kat's company? She does seem like a great girl."

"She really is. She worked Vice for a couple of years before she went to SVU. She is a boxer. She is eager to please and I think working with you on this case is going to do a lot for her career. I mean, she saved my life."

"I owe her a lot, Maur. She is a good detective. I am planning on talking to Captain Benson on her behalf. So, Dr., how are you feeling today?"

"Well, Detective, I'm feeling really good today. The headaches are better. They don't hurt as much and they don't last as long."

"Oh, Maur, that's great. Have you been eating? Can I get you something?"

"Oh, Jane, I am hungry. We're in NY, that gives us so many choices. What do you want?"

"Well, I think we should ask a nurse or doctor what kinds of foods you can eat. I don't want to give you something that may be too heavy or whatever."

"Usually that is what I tell you. Look at you being all adult and responsible today. How mature of you Detective."

Jane laughs and runs her fingers thru her hair and smiles at Maura. She walks out of the room to talk to a nurse.

"Well, good news Maura, you are cleared to eat whatever you want. So, what do you want?"

"Hmmmm... we're in Manhattan. Well, I've heard of a place that I'd like to try, San Carlo Osteria Piemonte. It's Italian. You know what I like. Surprise me."

"I do know what you like. I will tell you that I won't be bringing you any wine.

Jane checks in with the protective detail and heads to the restaurant.

Jane is looking at the menu and thinks to herself, this place is fancy, of course it's Maura's choice. She gets a pasta and a main entree, she figures that they'll share. Tagliatelle ai Funghi Porcini and Porcinicistata de Manzo. Basically fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms and a

Dry aged 16oz bone-in ribeye with veal reduction and rosemary potatoes.

She heads back to the hospital with dinner. Maura is in good spirits still. Jane wishes she could get her up for a walk, but a broken foot and ankle makes that difficult.

"Hey Maur, I've got one hell of a dinner. I told them what had happened and they also gave me real plates and silverware. I promised them that I would bring them back."

"Jane! You did that for me? I love you."

Jane looks at Maura with a look making her question if she heard her correctly.

"Sorry, Jane. I shouldn't have said that."

"Well, Maura, did you mean it?"

"Yes, Jane, I did. I do. I love you. I don't want to live without you either. I fell in love with you a long time ago. I didn't know how to tell you or even if you felt the same way."

"Wow. I don't know what to say. Well, except, Maura, I love you too. I love you so much. I have for a long time. When you were taken, I was devastated. I was worried that I'd never see you again. That is when I knew I needed to tell you. Maura, I love you."

"Oh, Jane. I was so scared that I'd never see you either. I knew that I'd tell you when I saw you again. When I heard you tell me that you loved me, I knew I could tell you without risk of rejection."

Jane runs her hand thru her long curls. She takes a step towards Maura and smiles. She lightly touches Maura's face. She leans in and gives Maura a very sweet kiss on her lips.

She steps back and looks at Maura's smiling face, "So, let's eat."

"Oh, Jane, this smells amazing. What did you get?"

"Oh, I got us a fresh tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and then a dry aged ribeye with a veal reduction and rosemary potatoes."

"Oh, that sounds so good. Thank you, Jane. I do wish I could have some wine, but I know that with the medications I'm on, I can't."

"Well, Doctor, you'll have wine soon enough. I promise you."

They enjoy a nice dinner together. A nice nurse reminds them that visiting hours are over, but she knows what's been going on. She offers to bring a cot in for Jane.

Maura tells her that Jane needs to get a good night's sleep, in a real bed. She asks where Jane is staying. Jane tells her that Captain Benson has offered to let her stay there. Maura convinces Jane to go, but makes her promise to come in the morning.

They give each other a very sweet kiss goodnight.

Jane checks in with the head nurse. She has promised to be the only one caring for Maura and the protective detail has Jane on speed dial.

Jane gets a cab to Olivia's. She calls to let her know that she's on her way.
