Jane walks into the SVU Precinct. Finn sees her first, "Detective, I thought you were going to call for a ride."
"Sgt, it's a nice day and I'm in a good mood. It's not far, so I thought I'd walk."
Kat and Rollins walk into the squad room and see Jane. They both say, "Detective."
"So, Jane, how is the Doctor doing? Liv said she was doing well. She said that she talked to her this morning."
"Yeah, Finn, thanks. She's doing great. Her doctor is going to run a few tests and maybe release her tomorrow. I think our best bet is to drive back to Boston. Getting her on a plane with a broken bones and a wheelchair probably isn't the best idea."
Rollins asks if Jane has talked to Agent Dean since yesterday. Jane has not. Rollins fills her in. "Well, since this time he not only kidnapped and drugged someone, he crossed state lines. Dean has taken him at a Federal holding facility in Syracuse. They are trying to get him sent him to a Federal prison far from the east coast. Agent Dean doesn't want Hoyt to have easy access to you."
Jane is listening to everything that Rollins has said. "Yeah, he tends to find a way to me. Maybe putting him west of the Mississippi will make it harder. If he escapes again maybe I'll get a heads up next time."
Olivia comes out of her office and sees Jane. "Hey, Jane. Did someone fill you in?"
"Olivia, yes, Rollins did. Thank you."
"Good. Maybe this plan will help. Carisi is heading over guys, he wants to talk to us. That means you too Jane."
"Ummm...okay. He was a big help to me with this case. So, he was a Detective in this squad before becoming ADA?"
"Yeah, he was a law student while he was working here. He's a good guy. Oh, he and the captain are my youngest daughter's Godparents."
"Rollins, that's great. I love that this squad is as close as mine. The only difference is that my family is involved too. My younger brother is a detective in homicide too and now he's dating our primary computer tech guru, who is also a detective. My ma is the bartender at the bar we've gone to for years. She used to work at the Cafe at the station. Oh and my Sargeant, and former partner is the new owner of that bar."
Kat smiles, "I love being part of a cop family. My biological family isn't this close. I'm still new in this squad, but I love being here."
"Oh, Kat, you're a great cop. You did save Maura's life with the whole questioning the nurse thing. Thank you again."
Carisi walks in, "Hey guys, Detective Rizzoli, good to see you all. Look, I need some help on a case. The Brooklyn DA is giving us a case. There is a guy that has been targeting professional women. He abducts, rapes and beats them. The reason they have been working it and not us is that most of the cases have been in Brooklyn. The last couple have crept into our area too. Here is where you come in Detective Rizzoli, you are his type. I also think he's seen Rollins and Tamin on the news. Are you up to it?"
"How many women has he gotten so far? Any of them murdered?"
"Seven women. None murdered."
"Well, if all goes as planned, I'm probably leaving town tomorrow. I can help tonight. What's the plan?"
"Well, Liv, what do you think?"
"We can wire her like we did with Hoyt. We can send in the squad, disguised to observe. Where does he do his hunting?"
"The financial district is usually where he grabs his victims. About 9pm. Let's start at Beckett's on Stone Street and then Vitry Wine Whisky. Does that work for everyone?"
"Jane, will that work with your schedule?"
"Yes, it will. Visiting hours at the hospital are over at 8, I'll head back here after that."
"Sonny, what does this guy look like? Rollins asks the question that everyone was wondering.
"Based on the composites we've gotten, he's 6'3", thin, nice build, dark wavy hair, mustache with goatee. No visible tattoos. Striking blue eyes. He says that he's a broker at TD Ameritrade. He'll flash cash. All of the women said that he will order Johnny Walker Blue, neat."
Carisi says he needs to meet with Olivia to get the rest of the operation in order. Jane decides to head over to the hospital to spend some time with Maura before tonight.
Jane walks back into the hospital and heads straight to Maura's room. She stops in at the nurse's station. They tell her that Maura will be released in the morning.
Jane is all smiles when she enters Maura's room. Maura is sleeping. Jane just watches over her. Her skin is perfectly toned. Where her injuries have been stitched, it's healing nicely. Even without make-up, Maura is a vision of beauty. Her long hair with the blonde tones, the slight wave it has. Jane longed to look into her beautiful green eyes. She sits by Maura's bed and just talks to her.
"Maura, I know you're asleep. You probably can't hear me anyway. I can't wait to get us back home. I love you. I want to have a life with you, if you want to do that. I never expected you to have the same feelings for me that I have for you. It made me so happy when you told me you loved me too."
Jane moves the chair back and pulls the other chair over for her feet. She uses her blazer as a pillow and falls asleep next to Maura's bed.
Jane doesn't know how long she's been sleeping when she feels someone tapping lightly on her shoulder.
"Noah! You came to see me here? Did you drive here?"
"No, Detective Rizzoli, I'm not old enough. Mommy brought me here."
"Jane, Maura, I didn't think you'd mind if we brought dinner to you. And, well, Noah really wanted to meet your friend that we saved."
"Of course not, Captain Benson, it's a pleasure to see you again. And, Noah, Detective Rizzoli has told me about you she said that she has enjoyed having breakfast with you. And now I get to enjoy having dinner with you. My name is Maura."
"Nice to meet you Maura. We brought spaghetti and salad for dinner. Do you like that?"
"Noah, thank you so much. That sounds great. I do love spaghetti and salad. Thank you for thinking of me."
"When mommy and I come visit Boston so we get to see you too?"
"I hope so. I think Jane said something about a Red Sox game."
The four enjoy dinner, laughs and stories. They are interrupted when Olivia's phone rings. "Hey Lucy, we're at Mt. Sinai, Room 523. Can you pick up Noah here, please? Okay, we'll see you in a bit." She hangs up her phone. Okay, Noah, Lucy will be here soon to get you."
"Maura, I'm so glad that I got to meet you. I'm so glad that Jane came to me to help find you. The two of you are remarkable women. Your friendship with each other is something to admire. Jane, you're the youngest person to be promoted to Detective and Maura, you're the Chief Medical Examiner of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. You're both so young to be so successful. I really wish I had you two working with me."
Lucy arrives to get Noah. Olivia tells her that she'll be working late but she'll keep her posted if she plans to be home before daybreak. Noah gives Jane and Maura both hugs goodbye. Lucy and Noah leave.
"Olivia, he is such a delightful young man. You said he was adopted? I was adopted at birth too. I wish I had as close of a relationship with my parents as you have with Noah."
"Thank you, Maura. Jane, I am going back to the Precinct. I will see you soon. Have a good night Maura."
"Goodbye Olivia, thank you for dinner", Maura says with a smile.
Jane adds, "I'll see you soon."
"Ummm, Jane, is there something you need to tell me? You're going back to SVU tonight?"
"Yes, I am. They need my help on a case. ADA Sonny Carisi specifically asked for my assistance. He is the one that plunged the syringe into Hoyt's neck when he had a knife to my throat. I'm going undercover to help them catch someone. The guy may or may not strike tonight, but I said I'd help. They are releasing you tomorrow and this is our last night in town. I am the type that this guy is drawn to. I'll be wired and the entire squad will be there to protect me."
"Wait. The ADA is working undercover too?"
"Yes, he was an SVU detective prior to becoming an ADA. He's a very smart man. He knows all sides of the law."
"So, tell me what this guy is wanted for."
"Well, he scouts out bars in the financial district. He picks them up, abducts them, drugs, rapes and beats them."
"Oh, Jane. I know it's your job. But I'm worried. You know, I heard you earlier when you said that you wanted to start a life with me. I want that too. I can't do that if you're not there. I almost lost my life. Please don't lose yours."
"Maur, I promise that I'll be careful. I absolutely promise you that. Maura, I love you. You won't be going back to Boston without me driving you there. Tomorrow. You're being released tomorrow and we'll head back, together."
Jane walk closer to Maura's bed and takes her hand. She looks into Maura's eyes. She strokes Maura's hair and gently touches her face. Maura reaches up to put her hand on Jane's hand. "Jane, I love you. I've loved you for a long time. I love your eyes, both the caring look you have and the dagers you throw at suspects. Your voice, it's so sexy. Your long legs. Your curly hair. Your intelligence. Your laugh. The way you care for your family. The protective nature you have over me. What's not to love? There is one thing I still need."
"Maura, anything. Just tell me."
"A kiss. Jane, I've wanted to kiss your lips for a long, long time."
Jane leans in, puts her index finger under Maura's chin. She leans in and places her lips on Maura's lips.
Their lips part and their tongues become intertwined with one another. Their breathing increases. Maura runs her hands into Jane's hair. They part, looking into each other's eyes and just smile.
"Wow. Yes. Now I can say that I love everything about you. That is the best kiss I've ever had."
"Oh, really Dr? You sure about that?"
"Jane, yes, you know I can't lie."
"Well, Dr. Isles, I have to say, that kiss was fantastic. I look forward to many more."
The two women just smile at one another. They've both wanted this for a long time.
"Well, Maur, visiting hours are over. I need to go. I'm heading to SVU."
"Jane, please be careful. I need you."
Jane scoffs, "You don't need me. You're incredibly independent."
"Okay, I don't need you need you, but I need you. I need a life with you. Jane, I love you."
"I love you too, Maura. I'll call you later." Jane kisses Maura one more time and heads out the door.
