Olivia comes in around 3am. Jane hears her come in and she heads out to talk to her.
"So, how did it go?"
"All five identified him immediately. No hesitation. When we told him that not only did he try to drug and assault a cop, he was positively ID'd by five of his seven victims. I told him that I'm sure that the other two would do the same, he confessed. He waived his right to counsel. I don't think this will be the end of this though. I'm sure he has something up his sleeve for a plea though. Anyway, thank you for saying that you'd take care of Noah in the morning. That was very nice of you."
"It's not a problem. He's a good kid. Hell, he's become my buddy. I'd be happy to help you."
"Okay, then I'm going to ask a favor then. Can you get him up and ready around 7? That gives me a chance for a little extra sleep before I head to the Precinct."
"Sure! I'll make him my ma's special bunny pancakes. It'll be fun."
"Damn, Jane, I really wish I had a friend like you here."
"Olivia, get some sleep. I'll see you in the morning."
Jane is up and ready early. She heads into Noah's room around 7. He's sleeping so sound. It's adorable. "Hey, Noah, it's Jane. It's time to get up. You get to hang out with me for a while this morning."
Noah starts to stir a little, "Detective Rizzoli, you're here! Cool."
"I am. I got here after you were asleep last night, Lucy was here. You mom got home late so I told her that is I'd fix you breakfast this morning. So, get dressed, make your bed, brush your teeth and I'll have breakfast ready for you when you're done. And, since we're good friends now, call me Jane."
"Yes, ma'am."
Jane starts making Angela's bunny pancakes, she scrambles some eggs and pours Noah some milk. It's an ready for him when he walks to the table.
"These are bunnies!"
"Yep, they sure are. My mom used to make them for me. You know what, she still does make them for me."
"Thank you. They are good."
"I'm glad you like them. So, tell me more about what you like. Your mom said that you like to dance."
"I do. I played baseball for a while, with my mom's friend Peter Stone. He used to play baseball. But when he moved away I didn't want to play anymore."
"Your mom is friends with Peter Stone? The former Chicago Cubs pitcher?"
"I don't know who he played for. He was nice. When he moved I didn't want to play baseball, I wanted to dance. So, now I take dance classes."
"I used to dance too and I used to play baseball. I play softball now."
"You used to dance?"
"I did. I took ballet for several years. Then I started playing hockey. I have two brothers. We played all the sports. You can meet my mom and my brothers when you and your mom come to Boston. My mom will probably want to make you bunny pancakes too."
Noah laughs. "I like the bunny pancakes. They are good."
Jane senses that she's being watched. Olivia is standing behind her in the doorway, smiling.
"Jane, you really have a way with kids. I hope you have some, some day."
"Me too. They really are great. If it don't, I hope my brothers do have them."
"So, Noah, have you enjoyed hanging out with Jane this morning?"
"Yes, mommy. She made bunny pancakes. Her mom still makes them for her."
"I see that she got you to make your bed and everything. I think I need to know her trick."
"I think the trick is, I'm not his mom."
"Ok Noah, finish up, we're going to leave in about 20 minutes. Jane, will you be ready then?"
"Yes, I will. All my stuff is packed and ready."
"Detective Jane, you're leaving today?"
"Yes, Noah, I am. I'm taking Maura home. Remember, you met her yesterday. I am so glad I got to meet you and even more glad I got to have breakfast with you today."
Everyone finishes up all they need to do so that they can head out for the day. Dropping off Noah at school is the first stop. Noah gives Jane a big hug around her neck, "Detective Jane, I'll miss you. I can't wait to come see you in Boston. It'll be fun."
"Yes, Noah, it will be a really good time. Have a good day at school."
Noah hugs Olivia and waves at them as he walks into school. Olivia heads to the hospital to drop off Jane. She gets her bag out of the car. She thanks Olivia again, for everything.
Jane strolls into the hospital and right to Maura's room. She is signing the discharge papers as Jane is walking in. The nurses make sure that Jane knows all of the discharge instructions, not like she really needs it, I mean Maura is a doctor.
Jane calls the rental car company to make sure that the car was dropped off at Precinct 16 in Manhattan. They confirm that it was.
Jane gets Maura dressed in some clothes that she brought to NY with her. She knew that Maura would need them. She's glad that they aren't going home unused.
They leave the hospital in the wheelchair and walk to the Precinct. Jane walks into SVU pushing Maura. They are greeted by Kat.
"Maura, it's so great to see you out of the hospital. You're looking so much better."
"Thank you, Kat. And thank you for saving my life. I can't thank you enough."
"Maura, it's my job."
"Maura, this is Sgt Tutuola, or Finn. I know you've heard all about him, but I wanted you to meet him."
Finn stands and walks over to Maura, "Dr. Isles, it's very nice to finally meet you. I'm so glad that this worked out as well as it did."
"Finn, very nice to meet you. Jane thinks very highly of you, and please, call me Maura."
"Amanda, it's good to see you again. Thank you for all you've done."
"Maura, you're welcome. I'm glad that you've been released and are able to go home."
Jane asks Finn if Olivia is in her office.
"She's in there with Carisi, just knock."
They approach Olivia's office and knock on the door.
"Come in..."
"Olivia, I wanted to come say thank you to you and your team for all you did to help find me. Thank you for helping Jane. It means a lot to me."
"Maura, you are very welcome. Jane helped us too. We make a good team."
"Dr. Maura Isles, this is ADA Sonny Carisi. He was an integral part in getting Hoyt."
"Mr. Carisi, yes, you're the one I owe the most too. Thank you, so very much. You saved my life the first time. You're a DA, not a cop. You didn't have to..."
"No I didn't, but this is still my team. I'm glad I could help. And Dr. Isles, please call me Sonny."
"Sonny, it's Maura."
Jane is overcome with emotion. So many people helped in getting the love of her life out of the grips of a madman. Now, they've all met one another. Everyone is so friendly. Who would have thought that NYC and Boston would work so well together.
"You know, we're going to be friends forever now, right? That's the way it works with the Rizzolis." Jane couldn't help herself.
Maura adds, "Anytime any of you find yourselves in Boston. Come see us. Please."
Olivia adds, "We will. You can count on it. And the same goes for you all. Anytime you're in NY, come see us."
"Oh, Olivia, your son tells me that you're friends with Peter Stone? I'm a fan of his. His fastball was amazing. He could shut down just about any hitter he faced. Wow. Sorry..."
"Yeah, Jane. He was the SVU ADA before me. His father was an ADA many years ago. He went to law school after he had to leave his baseball career behind."
"That's impressive. I was at Fenway for an interleague game when he got his 1st shutout against an American League team."
Maura interrupts, "Please excuse Jane, she gets worked up when she talks about baseball."
"I do. Sorry. It drives my ma crazy too. Well, we need to head out. We both wanted to thank you all for everything. It means a lot to us. Oh, and if you need me for the trial on the case from last night, I'll be here."
"I doubt I will, but I'll be in touch."
They all say their goodbyes and Jane gets Maura into the car. She leans in and gives Maura a kiss before she gets in the car to head home. Home together.
